Abstract

A large number of such tufting needles is moulded into needle modules which, in turn, are secured to a needle bar. On one side the tufting needles have a thread guide groove and one edge of the looper side opposite the thread guide groove is bevelled. Several variants must be held in readiness depending on the purpose and looper design. In the tufting needle and needle module system, therefore, there must be further simplifications so that the needle modules can be used for all ranges of looper designs. The invention provides for the second edge of the looper side of the tufting needle also to be bevelled.

Description

TUFTINGNADEL TUFTING NEEDLE
Beschreibungdescription
The invention relates to a tufting needle, consisting of a piston which can be at least partially molded into a needle module, and a shaft which has a needle tip provided with an eye and a thread guide groove on one side and a chamfer on one edge of the looper side opposite the thread guide groove having.
A large number of such tufting needles are molded into needle modules, which in turn are attached to a needle bar.
The needle modules have a contact surface which can be provided with a projecting strip. The bar can be designed as a molding bar which engages in a groove of the needle bar. It can also be designed as a contact strip which bears against the lower edge of the needle bar when it is fastened.
A needle module is already known from WO 95/23 253, the two sides of which are designed as contact surfaces. Accordingly, a contact strip is formed on both contact surfaces.
German utility model 295 06 819.1 shows a needle module with likewise two contact surfaces and molded strips on both contact surfaces, which engage in a groove in the needle bar.
Dies hat folgenden technischen Hintergrund:In the aforementioned variants, the module can thus also be used in a position rotated by 180 °. The number of tools required can be halved in this way. This has the following technical background:
This is due to the following cause: When the needle module is in operation, after piercing a base fabric, a looper engages between the side surface of the needle and the side of a tufting needle
Thread and hold the thread. In this way, loops are formed when the needles are moved upward again.
In order to keep the wear when loops and needles work together, the needles on this side surface are chamfered at a certain angle to the direction of movement of the looper.
Depending on how the tufting machine is designed, whether the looper engages to the left or right of the needles during their movement and whether the looper is arranged to the left or right of the needle bar with a view of the longitudinal direction of the needle bar, corresponding module variants must be used are made, in the described case there are four possibilities, ie there are four different modules available.
With the modules described at the outset, which can be used in two positions, the number of variants required can be halved, since one module can be twisted for both loops arranged on the left and right of the needle bar. This leaves two variants for looper engaging on the left or right side surfaces of the needles.
The invention has for its object to provide further simplifications in the system of tufting needles and needle modules, so that the needle modules can be used for all constellations of looper designs.
According to the invention, the object is achieved in that a chamfer is likewise provided on the second edge of the looper side.
In den zu¬ gehörigen Zeichnungen zeigen:In a preferred manner according to the invention, the tufting needle can be designed symmetrically with respect to a plane dividing the thread guide groove and the looper side in the middle. The invention will be explained in more detail using an exemplary embodiment. The associated drawings show:
Fig. 1 Ein Nadelmodul mit den erfindungsgemäßen Tuftingnadeln in Vorderansicht,1 a needle module with the tufting needles according to the invention in front view,
Fig. 2 ein Nadelmodul entsprechend Fig. 1 in Seitenansicht,2 shows a needle module corresponding to FIG. 1 in side view,
Fig. 3 eine vergrößerte Ansicht eines Moduls mit den erfindungsgemäßen Tuftingnadeln von unten,3 is an enlarged view of a module with the tufting needles according to the invention from below,
Fig. 4 die Seitenansicht eines Nadelmoduls mit bisher bekannten Tuftingnadeln,4 shows the side view of a needle module with previously known tufting needles,
Fig. 5 is an enlarged view of the needle module corresponding to FIG. 4 in the view from below.
Mit einer der Anlageleisten 6 liegt das Nadelmodul 1 dann beim Betrieb einer Tuftingmaschine an der Unterkante einer Nadelbarre an.1 shows a needle module 1, consisting of a base body 2 and the tufting needles 3, which are molded into the base body 2 with part of their piston 4. The base body 2 is provided with a bore 5 for attachment to a needle bar. As can be seen from FIG. 2, a contact strip 6 is formed on both sides of the base body 2. With one of the contact strips 6, the needle module 1 then bears against the lower edge of a needle bar during operation of a tufting machine.
The shaft 7 of the tufting needles 3 has a thread guide groove 8 for thread guidance, as is clear in the view according to FIG. 3. From the view of FIG. 2, the thread guide groove 8 is located on the back of the needles 3. At the tip of the needles 3 there is an eye 9 through which the thread is passed.
On both end faces of the needles 3 there are bevels 10 towards the front side face, as seen from FIG. 2 in the paper plane, of the looper side 11 of the needles 3. Thus, the needle module 1 can be used for tufting machines, the looper of which is not shown here to a position of the needle module as shown in FIG. 2, from a direction from the left towards the needle module 1 and to the right past the needles or from a direction from the right towards the needle module 1 and past the needles. In the first case, the looper intervenes between the needles and the threads moving up and down to the left, and in the other case between the needles and the threads moving up and down to the right.
When the needle module 1 rotates on the needle bar, the needle module is suitable for tufting machines whose loopers are moved from the left towards the needle bar and to the left past the needles or from the right towards the needle bar and right past the needles.
The needles 3 are provided with a chamfer 10 on only one edge. They are therefore only suitable for tufting machines, the looper of which, in the view of FIG. 4, are moved towards the needle module from the left and grip the thread on the right of the needles.
When the needle module 1 is rotated by 180 °, the needle module 1 is suitable for tufting machines, the looper of which, analogous to the view in FIG. 5, but now with a needle module rotated by 180 °, is moved from the right toward the needle module and the Grab the thread to the right of the needles.
For tufting machines, whose looper grips the thread to the left of the needles, viewed from the direction of movement of the looper, a needle module would be necessary, the needles of which are chamfered on the opposite edge.
A needle module equipped with the needles according to the invention can, provided that it is also designed in such a way that it can also be used in a position rotated by 180 °, can be used for all variants of tufting machines.
