Abstract

The apparatus for protecting a device (11) has two temperature dependent switch mechanisms (12,13) each having two temperature dependent switch points. The apparatus also has at least two external connectors (15,16,17). The two switch mechanisms (12,13) are arranged directly in a single housing (21) such that each switch mechanism connects an associated first or second external connection (16,17) directly with a middle connection (15) in dependence on its temperature. The middle terminal is common to both switch mechanisms and is preferably provided as the third external connection. Preferably each switch mechanism is in the form of a bimetal snap strip.
