Description

The invention relates to a guide ring for a projectile, the guide ring in one Circumferential groove of a projectile casing is arranged.

The purpose of such guide rings is to guide the projectile in the barrel when it is fired and to set it in rotation about the longitudinal axis (swirl). Such guide rings, which mostly consist of metallic materials, are known, for example, from DE-OS 37 36 167 or DE-OS 35 08 053 . Such guide rings have the disadvantage that the wear of the weapon barrel can be relatively high. However, the premature wear of the weapon barrel can be reduced if a suitable plastic is used as the material for the guide rings. The manufacture, assembly and fastening of such guide rings is relatively cumbersome and expensive. With DE-OS 35 25 854 a similar guide ring has become known, which is formed from two half rings which can be firmly connected to one another by a snap lock. However, this guide ring is not firmly connected to the projectile shell, but is arranged to slide on it, so that only a residual twist can be given to the projectile when it is fired.

The invention has for its object a guide ring of the type mentioned propose that does not have the disadvantages mentioned above.

This object is achieved by the invention specified in claim 1 . Here, the guide ring is firmly connected by openings in the projectile casing to a sealing body arranged on the rear of the projectile in the interior of the projectile casing. The guide ring is formed together with the sealing body during one step of a manufacturing process by injecting a plastic into the projectile casing through its open back.

The advantages achieved with the invention are the fact that the guide ring on manufactured in a simple manner and firmly and securely connected to the projectile casing is, with only low manufacturing costs.

1 to 3 , 1 denotes a jacket which is formed from a projectile shell 2 and a projectile tip 3 firmly connected to the latter. The projectile tip 3 , which preferably consists of a heat-resistant, fiber-reinforced thermoplastic, is injected onto the projectile casing 3 in a first step of a manufacturing process, wherein it is anchored in grooves 4 which are arranged in the interior of the projectile casing 2 . The projectile tip 3 has a centering 6 , not shown and described, in which a projectile body 5 is guided and held. The projectile body 5 is pushed into the centering 6 of the projectile tip 3 through the projectile casing 2 , which is open at the rear, in a second step of the manufacturing process. 7 with a guide ring is designated, which is embedded in a circumferential groove 8 of the shell 2 . The guide ring 7 is firmly connected by openings 9 in the projectile casing 2 to a sealing body 10 arranged on the rear of the projectile in the interior of the projectile casing 2 . The openings 9 can be, for example, six bores offset by an angle of 60 °, which are arranged radially in the region of the circumferential groove 8 . However, openings of a different shape and number are also possible.

The guide ring 7 is formed in a third step of the manufacturing process together with the sealing body 10 by injecting the same plastic used for the manufacture of the projectile tip 3 into the projectile casing 2 through the open rear side thereof. The spray material penetrates from the projectile casing 2 through the openings 9 into the circumferential groove 8 and into circumferential grooves 11 , 12 arranged in the interior of the projectile casing 2 . In addition, the spray material encloses the part of the projectile body 5 protruding from the centering 6 , so that it is firmly anchored in the projectile. A toothing 13 is provided in the circumferential groove 8 , which is in engagement with the guide ring 7 and thus contributes to the transmission of the swirl to the projectile.
