Abstract

A tubular body has four or more fold lines, of which two (1, 4) converge towards one end of the tubular body and the two remaining ones (2, 3) converge towards the other end thereof. Two side regions (11, 13) can be folded back against the inner surface of a third region (12). The dimensions of the fourth side region (14) are such that, when the body is folded, the said region readily fits between bounding fold lines (1, 4). When the tubular body is expanded, it undergoes maximum deformation, so that it remains stable both in the folded state and in the expanded state. The invention is useful for obtaining varying shapes, stabilising the body in its expanded state and making housings to be used as disposable vases, containers for liquids or creams, or boxes.

Description

The present invention relates to a tubular body foldable, made in particular of cardboard, and intended by example to constitute the side wall of a case.

The present invention also relates to a envelope, container or case provided with such a body.

The present invention applies in particular to the realization of flower vases delivered folded, intended for be kept or otherwise discarded after use.

We know many forms of folding case. They have the advantage of being able to be delivered in the folded state, therefore at low volume, to the user.

Le pliage consiste à aplatir la paroi latérale tubulaire selon deux arêtes parallèles et opposées (US-A-3 369 727 et US-A-4 063 679).Most of the time, such foldable cases have a determined geometric shape, most often parallelepiped. In addition, each folding principle is most often linked to a specific geometric shape or to a small family of such forms, usually few aesthetically attractive. Folding consists of flatten the tubular side wall along two edges parallel and opposite (US-A-3,369,727 and US-A-4,063,679).

It has been imagined according to the invention to seek a folding principle that allows for shapes attractive and varied, allowing for fantasy and real aesthetic research. In particular, it was imagined according to the invention to make vases of flowers folding, intended to be offered in the folded state as long as a bouquet of flowers. This takes away from the person receiving the bouquet the concern of research, often difficult, of a suitable vase to contain it.

The object of the present invention is thus to propose a foldable tubular body whose folding structure offers great freedom in choosing the aesthetics of the tubular body in the state set in volume.

According to the invention, the foldable tubular body defining a first, a second, a third and a fourth successive lateral regions connected to each other by a first, a second, a third and fourth articulation lines, while that the second and third lines of articulation, defining between them the second lateral region, or the two other articulation lines, converging on one of the ends of the tubular body, is characterized in that that the first, second and third lines articulation allow, from the state set volume of the tubular body, to fold down the first and the third lateral regions overlapping each other against the inner side of the second region, and fold down the inner side of the fourth region against that of the first region, in that the fourth line joint is invertible to change to the concave state until the outer side of the fourth region is folded down against that of the third region, and in that the fourth region is sized to register substantially unconstrained between the first and the fourth articulation lines when the first and third regions are folded into overlap against the second region.

This structure is extremely simple to make since it suffices to give the tubular body four lines particularly positioned. She permits to freely choose the shape of the body tubular in the set state. This shape can be almost regular or on the contrary very irregular, in depending on the positioning of the articulation lines. The transition from the set state to the folded state and conversely is very easy. The minimum number of four articulation lines, can be increased at will, each lateral region which can itself be composed of several faces.

According to another aspect of the invention, an envelope comprises a tubular body according to the first aspect and means for closing at least one of the ends of the body tubular, so as to produce a box.

It is also provided according to the invention that the envelope comprises such a tubular body and a waterproof pocket connected to the inner perimeter of the body tubular, for example near its end upper, so that the whole constitutes a vase of disposable flowers.

According to another aspect of the invention, the envelope, always including the tubular body of the first appearance, is fixed around a flexible container and / or deformable for liquid or pasty substance.

It is still expected that the tubular body will directly from the sealed container for substance liquid or pasty. In either case, the invention makes it possible to gradually drive out the substance, such as toothpaste, condensed milk, cleaning products, etc., gradually doing pass the body from the set state to the folded state. It is thus very convenient to effectively exhaust the substance initially contained in the envelope.

Other features and advantages of the invention will become more apparent from the description below, relating to nonlimiting examples.

As shown in Figure 3, the tubular body is made from a blank 21 in the form of parallelogram connected on one side to a tongue of collage 22. From this side to the opposite side of the parallelogram, this is subdivided into four regions 11, 12, 13, 14 which succeed one another between a first line of articulation 1 corresponding to the side of the parallelogram adjacent to tongue 22, up to opposite side 23 of the parallelogram. Regions 11 to 14 are further separated from each other by a second, a third and fourth articulation lines 2, 3 and 4 which each extend between the other two sides 24 and 26 of the parallelogram. So, as the Figures 1 and 2, once the tongue 22 glued to the region 14 so that the articulation line 1 is superimposed on side 23 of the parallelogram, there is formed a deformable tube having four lateral regions 11 to 14 succeeding each other along the periphery of the tubular body being separated from each other by four lines 1, 2, 3, 4 each extending from one end to end of the tubular body without cutting mutually. Sides 24 and 26 of the parallelogram then form the ends of the tubular body.

The tubular body is made of a material of preferably semi-rigid such as cardboard. The deformability of the tubular body resides on the one hand in its articulated structure along the articulation lines 1 to 4, and secondly in the flexibility of the regions 11 to 14 between articulation lines 1 to 4. The articulation lines are for example obtained by material weakening such as creasing of the cardboard, or thickness reductions if the body is in plastic material. The second and third lines of articulation 2 and 3, defining between them the second lateral region 12, converge towards one of the ends of the tubular body, namely the end upper 24 in the representation of FIGS. 1 to 3. On the contrary, the other two articulation lines 1 and 4 defining between them the fourth lateral region 14 converge towards the other end of the tubular body, namely the lower end 26 in the representation of figures 1 to 3.

The first, second and third lines of articulation 1 to 3 allow the face to be folded down interior of the fourth region 14 against that of the first region 11, as well as the inner side of each of the first and third regions 11 and 13 against the inner face of the second region 12, to lead to the folded configuration shown in the figure 1, in which the first lateral region 11 overlaps the third lateral region 13. Each of the articulation lines 1 and 4 is then entirely located on the same side of the axis on the other. Other says, the geometric axes 31 and 34 of the lines of articulation 1 and 4 intersect at a point 16 located in outside these two lines, that is to say in the extension of these. Ultimately, it is possible that point 16 is located at a common end of lines 1 and 4, as we will see in one of the examples dimensions given with reference to Figures 5 to 13.

This type of overlap implies that, along the end 24 of the tubular body, the sum of the lengths L 1 and L 3 (FIG. 1) of the first and third lateral regions is greater, on the one hand than the length L 2 of the second lateral region 12 and on the other hand to the length L 4 of the fourth lateral region 14. The above is expressed as follows: L 1 + L 3 > L 2 L 1 + L 3 > L 4 .

Les même constatations peuvent être faites le long de l'extrémité inférieure 26.The same findings can be made along from the lower end 26.

The fourth lateral region 14 is dimensioned to extend without noticeable deformation between the lines of articulation 1 and 4 thus positioned one by compared to each other. This folded configuration of the body tubular is permitted by the property of the fourth hinge line 4 to take an inverted state, that is to say projecting towards the inside of the tube, so that the fourth lateral region is supported by its outer face against the outer face of the third lateral region.

The folded configuration, shown in Figure 1, constitutes for the tubular body a state of deformation minimum in which the only elastic energy stored is that, possibly, of deformation of articulation lines 1 to 4.

The tubular body is able to pass from this folded configuration to the volume configuration of Figure 2 by opening the first side region 11 relative to the second region 12 around line 2 then pushing the fourth line of articulation 4 outwards. We thus go through a maximum of deformation substantially when the third and the fourth regions 13 and 14 are roughly coplanar, then the strain energy decreases as the articulation line 4 becomes more convex towards outside the tubular body, until reaching a second minimum when the configuration is reached, therefore stable, from Figure 2. In this example, at least the first and third lateral regions then take a curved configuration, the four hinge lines being convex outward from the tubular body.

In the alternative embodiment of Figure 4, we added two additional articulation lines 6 and 9 each along a diagonal of the first region 11 and respectively from the third region 13, which is are thus each subdivided into two faces 11a, 11b and 13a, 13b respectively. All of these faces can thus take on substantially planar shapes when the tubular body is in the volume state. The lines of articulation 6 and 9 are shown in phantom with double point in figure 3. Line of articulation 6 extends between the upper corner of the second region and the bottom corner of the fourth region, in other words along the long diagonal of the first region 11 and it defines a concave edge when the body tubular is in volume. On the contrary, the line additional articulation 9 extends along the small diagonal of the third region 13, so between the angle top of the fourth region 14 and the bottom corner of the second region 12, and it defines an edge convex on the tubular body in the set state. This is only illustrative, and we could have made two concave edges along the two large diagonals of regions 11 and 13, or two convex edges depending on the two small diagonals, we could also have placed the additional fold line in positions other than diagonal.

From the volume set state shown in figures 2 and 4, it is easy to fold the body tubular to return to the configuration of the figure 1, which also applies to the example of FIG. 4 to folded state. For that, it is enough at first apply a push P (figure 2) on the line articulation 4, preferably in the vicinity of the end 24 of the tubular body along which the fourth lateral region 14 is the longest. This allows to cross the position where the energy of deformation is maximum. After that, the folding is almost alone, but we can of course help him by folding the first region 11 against the second region 12. If necessary, a reference 27 (Figures 2 and 4) may be provided to indicate the point of the body tubular where pressure P must be applied to cause folding.

The observation of figure 1 makes it possible to appreciate that in the folded state, the relative position of the lines of articulation 1 and 4 would be the same if one placed the third region 13 overlapping on, and no longer under, the first region 11. Therefore, in this also folding mode, the fourth side region connects hinge lines 1 and 4 without constraint.

In this case the fourth region folds back by its inner face against the third region and by its outer face against the first region. He is for that necessary that the first line of articulation 1 can be inverted to form a concave fold and the fourth line of articulation 4 can form a fold convex. In the case of a cardboard production, one either of the two folding modes is usually possible. A second reference 28 (figure 2) can be intended to indicate on line 1 the point where the application of a closing pressure Q allows the folding according to the second mode. Conceptually, the two folding modes can be described identically, provided that the names given are properly swapped to the lateral regions and to the articulation lines.

The example of Figures 5 to 13 will only be described for its differences from the previous one, and the reference numbers will be kept to designate the analogous elements. In this example, the tubular body has eight substantially equal faces formed by triangles, all or some only having a truncated vertex. These triangles succeed each other head to tail so that the tubular body has two ends of square shape, at least some of the vertices of which are bevelled. The square of one end is offset by 45 ° around the axis of the body relative to that of the other end. The blank intended to make such a body tubular (Figure 5) as before includes first, second, third, and fourth lines of articulation 1, 2, 3 and 4 represented by lines solid, and additional articulation lines 6, 7, 8 and 9 shown in phantom to allow to distinguish them more easily. The first and third lateral regions 11 and 13 have substantially the form of parallelograms and fold lines additional 6 and 9 extend substantially according to the small diagonal of these parallelograms so that show additional convex edges as shown in figure 13. The fold lines additional 7 and 8 subdivide the second region 12 in three triangular faces. Lines 7 and 8 each extend from the middle of the longest edge from region 12 to a respective end from its shortest edge. The fourth region 14 does corresponds to only one triangle. Faces 11a and 11b of region 11 are located at both ends of the blank which allows for bonding with the tongue 22 along the additional articulation line 6. Gluing is more reliable because the lines are less used than lines 1 to 4 during the folding operations and setting in volume of the body.

Figures 6 to 8 show that by folding successive of the blank first along the line hinge 3 then in reverse direction along the articulation line 4 then in the natural direction along from line 2 and finally along line 1 we bring the face 11a to be superimposed on the tongue 22 previously glued to obtain the body directly tubular in the folded state.

So that this manufacturing by successive folding is feasible, you must have previously positioned the articulation lines 1 to 4 so that the fourth region is substantially unrestricted between articulation lines 1 and 4 in the folded state.

On va donc choisir chacun des bords B1 et B3 un peu plus long que chacun des bords B2 et B4.In the example of FIGS. 5 to 13, this requires slight deviations from the strict equality of the eight triangular faces. In particular the examination of FIG. 9 makes it possible to understand, without taking account for the moment of the truncated vertices of certain triangular faces, that if the edges B 2 and B 4 of the second and of the fourth region 12, 14 along of the upper end of the body are of equal length, the edges B 1 and B 3 cannot also have this same length since they are substantially positioned like the diagonals of a rectangle whose two opposite sides would be B 2 and B 4 . We know that the diagonals of a rectangle are longer than each of its sides. We will therefore choose each of the edges B 1 and B 3 a little longer than each of the edges B 2 and B 4 .

At the other end of the tubular body, it can be seen from FIG. 9 that if the edges C 1 and C 3 of the first and third regions 11, 13 are chosen to be equal, they are necessarily each larger than half from the edge C 2 of the second region since the sum of two sides C 1 and C 3 of a triangle is always greater than the third side C 2 . The fourth region 14 has a zero or almost zero length along this end of the tubular body, depending on whether the triangle constituting this fourth region is truncated or not. There is shown by an enlargement at the bottom of FIG. 9 the folding configuration at the bottom of the region 14 when the latter consists of a truncated triangle. When the triangle is not truncated, the point of concourance 16 of the articulation lines 1 and 4 coincides with the end of these, as illustrated in FIG. 5.

Thus, along the upper end of the tubular body, the long and short edges are seen to alternate, namely B 1 (long), B 2 (short), B 3 (long), and B 4 (short). On the contrary, along the other end of the tubular body, two short edges C 21 and C 22 (forming part of the edge C 2 of the second region 12), are followed by two long edges C 3 and C 1 .

As a practical example, corresponding to a tubular body having a length of 105 mm, one can approximately give the short edges a length of 40 mm and with long edges a length of 41.5 mm. The triangles whose base is a short edge can then not be truncated, while the triangles having for base a long edge can be truncated so that have at the top a width "S" (figure 5) equal to the difference in length between long edges and short edges, about 1.5 mm in the example. We thus obtains two advantages. On the one hand all hinge lines of the blank in Figure 5 are parallel to either of two directions and two only, which greatly facilitates manufacturing. On the other hand, the width "S" of the vertices truncated triangles, located at certain angles of each end of the tubular body, reduces the extra length to give to the long edges. The effect aesthetic is therefore improved as well by equality of inclination of the edges only by the small deviations of length between long and short edges along each end of the tubular body.

We can further improve the appearance by making so that bevels are present at all angles, in other words that all the triangles are truncated, more or less important depending on the length of their base, always to respect the parallelism of all lines of articulation with one or the other of two directions on the blank.

According to a particularly advantageous example, the edges B 2 , B 4 , C 21 and C 22 have a length of 40 mm each, the edges B 1 and B 3 a length of 41 mm, and the edges C 1 and C 3 a length 42 mm. Each triangular face has a truncated vertex whose width is equal to the base of the triangle in question, reduced by 39 mm, which gives a bevel of 1, 2 or 3 mm depending on the case. This configuration has the advantage that the two ends of the tubular body in the set state are in the same circle when viewed along the axis of the body. The tubular body appears strictly vertical when placed by one of its ends on a horizontal surface.

Les figures 10 à 13 illustrent le passage de l'état plié de la figure 9 à l'état mis en volume de la figure 13, selon un processus similaire à celui décrit à propos de l'exemple des figures 1 à 3.Figures 10 to 13 illustrate the passage of the folded state of FIG. 9 in the folded state of the Figure 13, according to a process similar to that described in About the example of Figures 1 to 3.

Folding can be initiated by pressing the item 27 as described above.

If necessary, the tubular body can be transformed containing such as a box or a vase exterior means of a bottom 29 (Figure 13) shaped to fit together in the end 26 of the body 3, and close this end. Similarly, the box can be closed above by a cover having a similar shape at the bottom 29. A bottom or a cover such as 29 but nestable externally is also conceivable. In at the same time, such bottoms or covers stabilize the shape of the tubular body set in volume.

The examples of FIGS. 14 to 25 will only be described for their differences from that of FIGS. 5 to 13. In the example of FIGS. 14 and 15, all the faces are triangular, no vertex is truncated. This makes it necessary to provide a greater difference between the long edges B 1 , B 3 , C 1 , C 3 on the one hand and the short edges C 21 , C 22 , B 2 , B 4 on the other hand. For example, still for a 105 mm long body, the long edges can be around 43 mm in length and the short edges around 40 mm in length. These differences remain difficult to detect with the naked eye, which perceives the shape of the tubular body as regular. Independently of the foregoing, the tubular body of FIGS. 14 and 15 comprises, along the edges C 21 , C 22 and C 3, respective flaps 36, 37, 38 to produce a conventional bottom, that is to say not automatic. The tubular body thus forms, with these components, a box with closed bottom and open top.

In the example of Figures 16 and 17, the blank has a fan shape, so that one end of the tubular body has a much larger perimeter than the other. The tubular body thus has the general appearance of a trunk of a pyramid. Such tubular bodies are mutually nestable. Here again, an almost regular configuration is possible thanks to a slight excess length of the edges B 1 and B 3 relative to the edges B 2 and B 4 , and of the edges C 1 and C 3 relative to the edges C 21 and C 22 .

The example of FIGS. 18 and 19 is in accordance with that of FIGS. 5 to 13 except that the edges C 1 , C 21 , C 22 and C 3 are provided with respective flaps 31, 32, 33 and 34 to produce a bottom called " automatic "well known to the packaging specialist. One thus realizes with the tubular body set in volume and said bottom a box with closed bottom and open top represented in figure 19.

In the example of FIGS. 20 and 21, the edges B 1 , B 2 and B 3 are extended respectively by a flap 39, a cover 41 and a flap 42 to allow the upper closure of this container. This is intended to constitute a disposable flower vase. To this end, the cover 41 has an orifice 43 surrounded by deformable tongues 44 intended to bring the bouquet together as shown in FIG. 22. After forming the tubular body from the blank as shown in FIGS. 6 to 13, inside the tubular body a waterproof bag open at its upper end. This attachment is achieved by bonding 46 between the outer face of the bag and the inner face of the tubular body over the entire periphery at a short distance from the upper edge of the bag and the edges B 1 -B 4 of the tubular body. Once this bonding has been made during manufacture, the vase can be placed in the folded position by exerting pressure on the angle between the edges B 3 and B 4 as previously stated. The bag 45 does not oppose this folding. As the bag 45 forms the bottom of the vase, the tubular body is open at its lower end, to simplify the volume setting operation as much as possible.

When buying a bouquet of flowers, the florist provides, free of charge or at an additional cost, the vase in the folded state, the person who bought the set which can in turn offer the vase and the bouquet.

The bag 45 serves to contain the water necessary for the conservation of the bouquet. Once the flowers have withered, the foldable vase is thrown away, preferably in the folded state to minimize clutter in the bin.

In the example of Figure 23, the tubular body 51 belongs to a sealed container whose bottom 52 is closed by a flexible wall as well as the end upper 53, however provided with a screw cap 54. The tubular body 51 can for example be made in a material with reduced rigidity along the lines articulation, for example a plastic or very malleable metal along the joints and significantly more rigid outside the joints. With this achievement, the gradual expulsion of the product (condensed milk, toothpaste, floor maintenance cream, for shoes, etc ...), instead of being done by a disordered deformation of a tube or the like, takes place methodically by starting compression on mark 27 and until the envelope is completely folded. This allows the envelope to be emptied very efficiently without have great efforts to perform even when the product runs out. The end of the tubular body which is adjacent to mark 27 is placed opposite the wall flexible fitted with plug 53. Thus, the compression of the sealed container begins with the end opposite the product ejection orifice.

In the example of Figure 24 the tubular body 61, for example made of cardboard, simply squeezes peripheral envelope for a waterproof pocket 62 in plastic material, the upper end of which is intended to be cut or torn to release the product. Again, the tubular body 61 will help rationally compress the pocket 62 to expel the product, starting at the far end of the opening.

In the example in Figure 25, the lines of articulation, instead of being carried out by simple creases in a cardboard blank, for example, have a certain width L. They consist of a veil of flexible material joining the faces proper, which are thicker and almost rigid. This facilitates manufacturing because all sides can consist of identical, truncated triangles or not. The length deviations required for the folding are provided by the flexible material, which in the state folded of the body aligns with the faces whose dimension must be larger. Usage is also easier because folding can be started by pressing on any triangular face vertex.

Of course, the invention is not limited to examples described and shown.

Body height does not have to be tubular is the same all along its periphery.

Compared to the example in Figure 4, we could for example provide at least one edge additional on the second lateral region and none on the other three regions. The invention does not exclude neither the presence of articulation lines on the fourth lateral region. In the case of faces all identical or similar, their shape can be trapezoidal instead of triangular for example.

Face numbers greater than eight are conceivable.

The tubular body can be produced from a tube of material, instead of starting from a blank. We can realize the invention directly by molding.

In the case of a tubular body flared towards one of its ends, it is not essential that the second and fourth lateral region shrink in opposite directions.

It is notably possible to combine freely, other than described, tubular body structures described, with the means of total closure or partial, lower or upper described and / or with the sealing means described.
