Definitions
- the present invention relates to a method and a device for quick interconnection of two electric cables, for example for the realization lighting point connections along a ship corridor or for the creation of electrical connection points in industrial sectors, tertiary, building, lighting, etc.
- a ship is normally equipped with many lighting points permanent. It is then necessary to be able to distribute the electrical energy in several points which are for example distributed along the same corridor, from the same three-conductor cable running through this corridor. You also need to be able to perform specific work, connect in parallel on this cable, provisionally and in any useful place.
- the technique used today is to provide a succession of sections of cable which are attached in height all along the corridor and whose two ends hang down, for example, at height man.
- said housing is shaped so that the half-housing can also be used when closing the entire housing incorporating the plate, vampire connection push button of the starting cable.
- reference 1 designates a cable line that conventionally runs a corridor of the ship in order to distribute energy electric, temporarily or permanently, at several selected points.
- This cable 1 is typically a flat cable, of the “bus” type, which comprises, in its insulating sheath, three coplanar conductive wires themselves respectively protected by their insulating sheath.
- This cable 1 is clearly visible in FIG. 2, and is commercially available.
- the device of the invention comes to take the electrical energy on line cable 1 to distribute it to a operating device, here a lighting lamp 3 which is connected to the free end a lighting cable 4, of a length chosen as a function of the point of use, typically a few meters.
- the lamp 3 is for example a portable lamp that we want to connect at this point to light up to do some work.
- lighting cable 4 is a three-wire cable sheathed conductors, including two line conductors and a ground conductor.
- this cable 4 does not need to be a flat cable to ensure the work of the invention, and it is therefore here a cable with three conductors and section circular.
- the interconnection device 2 comprises a box 5 which is made of two nestable halves, including a first half of housing 6 which receives the cable starting 4, and a second half of housing 7 which, as will be seen below, serves as receptacle and push button for connecting the line cable, or cable 1.
- An intermediate plate 8 is further provided (see Figures 2 and 3) which is positioned in the housing 5, between the two cables 1 and 4 then superimposed in this case.
- Three grooves 9, 10, 11 for positioning the ends of the three wires sheathed 12, 13, 14 ( Figure 4) of the starting cable 4 equip the internal part of the first half of housing, or lower half, 6.
- a cable gland 15 holds the cable 4 at its entry in half of housing 6.
- the end part of the cable 4 which enters the receptacle 6 has been previously stripped of its outer sheath in order to release the three sheathed wires 12, 13, 14.
- the plate 8 is designed to be inserted very precisely into the half of the housing 6, and its underside (see FIG. 3) is accordingly furnished guide pins 16 of bars 17 for holding the wires, and ribs 171, which cooperate with conjugated female forms provided for in this effect in the half-housing 6.
- feet 18 and clipping lugs 19 provide a firm and positive positioning of this plate 8 in the lower half-housing 6.
- the internal part of the other half of the case, or upper half-housing 7, is fitted with positioning lugs 20 which cooperate with conjugate cavities 21 which are formed in columns 22 secured to the other face, or upper face in the drawings, of the plate 8.
- the half-housings 7 and 6 are respectively provided with lugs and bottomless recessing cavities 23, 24 which ensure the closure of the half-casing 7 on the half-casing 6 by firmly trapping the plate intermediate 8 as well as the lower cable 4 and the upper cable 1.
- Various organs, such as conjugate grooves 28, 29 and plates guide 30 ensure proper positioning of the supply cable 1 in the housing 5, and there are even provided sealing members 31, at the entry and exit of this cable 1 in the housing 5, to avoid pollution or penetration of moisture in the internal part of this box once the connection is made.
- the plate 8 is equipped with three metallic double tips 32, 33, 34 which are taken in advance, that is to say during the factory construction of the plate 8 to which they are therefore permanently integrated in this plate 8 so that, for each of these double-pointed, one point is protruding upwards on the upper face of plate 8, according to Figure 2, while the opposite coaxial point is protruding down on the underside of the plate 8, according to Figure 3.
- Figures 4, 5, 6 show how, according to one of the multiples possibilities of carrying out the invention, the installation is carried out successively the end, previously stripped of its outer sheath, of the cable 4 (FIG. 4), then (FIGS. 5 and 6) the forced insertion of the plate 8 into the lower housing 8, which causes the needles 32, 33, 34 to penetrate into the respective sheathed wires 12, 13, 14, then electrically connecting these needles to these wires.
- This first action can be carried out either in the workshop or on site, which then makes it possible to cut the cable 4 exactly to the required length.
- connection device 2 of the invention is ready to be, in situ, installed and connected to the point chosen on the line cable 1.
- the upper half-housing 7 is first of all (FIG. 7) positively set up, thanks to its aforementioned guide members 28, 30 ( Figure 2), straddling the line cable 1. Then, still according to Figure 7, the half-box 6, furnished according to Figure 6 of cable 4, is rotated 90 degrees in the direct direction to present the openings 35 of the slides 25 opposite the ends of the axle 26.
- the connector can be delivered with parts 6 and 7 assembled on the grooves 35 and the axes 26, which avoids the previous steps.
- the lower half-housing 6 is then subjected to a vertical translation upwards to bring it closer to the upper half-housing 7 and firmly fit it into the latter.
- the three upper points 32, 33, 34 pierce cable 1 and connect respectively, by drilling insulation, on its three wires which they then provide positive interconnection with their three combined wires 12, 13, 14 of the lower cable 4.
- the lower cable 4 can be arbitrary, provided that contains the desired number of useful conductors.
- tips 32-34, the plate 8 which carries them, and the internal structure of the upper half-casing 7 must be adapted to the morphology of the cable 1, and in particular to the arrangement of the wires useful it contains.
- Support on the intermediate plate 8 to connect the starting cable 4 can also be carried out by closing the box 5 using the upper half-box 7.
- this connector is intended to be used on a cable line 1 as shown in the drawings, i.e. a cable structurally flat and of the “bus” type, in which the useful wires are therefore coplanar and practically adjacent.
- a cable line 1 as shown in the drawings, i.e. a cable structurally flat and of the “bus” type, in which the useful wires are therefore coplanar and practically adjacent.
- tips 32-34 should in principle have different lengths and adapted to the position, in the line cable, their combined wires.
- the active wires, or useful wires, of the line cable are, in projection on the plane horizontal (according to the present drawings), parallel to each other.
- double-pointed which are made each of two points directed in opposite directions, each consisting of two coaxial points, the main thing being that these two points (of the same double-point) are electrically connected to each other.
