Description

The invention relates to a reusability lock for one Container for the ink supply of an ink printhead.

Such ink printheads are used both in the usual office printers and in small, fast printers.
The latter are part of modern machines for printing addresses or for product labeling and in future also for franking mail.
For the printheads, the function should be guaranteed so that there are no pressure point failures. This is important not only because of the print image quality in general, but especially for security-relevant print image data such as value, date and machine number when franking. In order to prevent pressure point failures and damage to the print head, it is imperative, among other things, to ensure that the ink print head is supplied with the ink approved for it as free of bubbles as possible.
It is common, see DE 27 09 730 C2, to dock the ink connection line from the ink print head to the container for the ink supply - in the further fresh ink container - via a hollow needle to the container, which is provided with a rubber-elastic closure which is pierced by the hollow needle. This prevents both air from entering the ink supply line and unwanted ink from the container. However, it is possible with this docking principle that the partially or completely empty fresh ink container is refilled with any ink and inserted into the printer by unauthorized persons.
This can lead to failures or even damage to the ink printhead.

For safe ink supply, it is important to recognize the ink end and signal in time. It is an ink end detection known, see DE 27 28 283 C2, in which in the bottom of Fresh ink container two electrodes are continuously introduced and the contact resistance between these electrodes was measured and is evaluated. The electrodes are arranged in troughs that are in the bottom of the container is molded. Requirement for use Such an ink end detection is the use of a electrically conductive ink.

The purpose of the invention is to increase functional reliability.

The invention is based, while maintaining the task Docking of the fresh ink container and an ink end detection means arranged in the latter Electrodes to develop a reusability barrier that only the use of new ones specified by the printer manufacturer Permits fresh ink containers. The use of once in operation fresh ink containers taken and refilled is closed prevent.

According to the invention, this object is achieved according to the patent claims.
By irreversibly triggering a covering device for at least one of the electrodes by means of the hollow needle for ink docking, it is achieved that for a fresh ink container which has been docked once the end of the ink is always signaled after the hollow needle has been pulled, regardless of how much ink is actually present in the container.
Once the fresh ink container has been undocked and redocked, it can no longer be used for ink supply, but if at all, only for ink disposal as an old ink container.

1, a fresh ink container 1 has a bore 111 in its front wall 11, into which a rubber-elastic closure 4 is inserted. A hollow needle 5 is inserted through the rubber-elastic closure 4 and is connected to an ink print head via an ink connection line 6 in a manner not shown. The side walls 12 and the rear wall 13 of the fresh ink container are designed as smooth walls without feedthroughs. A trough-shaped depression 143 is worked into the bottom 14, in the area of which the hollow needle 5 opens. The hollow needle 5 has an ink opening 51 on the side. Outside the recess 143, two electrodes 142 are fitted into the bottom 14 toward the front wall 11, which electrodes are surrounded by a bead 141 projecting therefrom.
A cover device 2 is arranged on the bottom 14 in the depression 143. The covering device 2 essentially consists of a rocker 21 mounted rotatably about an axis 22, two bearing blocks 23 for the axis 22 and a resilient latching hook 25 and a compression spring 24, see also FIG. 2.
The covering device 2 is arranged on the bottom 14 and designed in such a way that it partially lies in the plug-in area of the hollow needle 5. A tooth 2122 on the rocker 21 is used for this purpose.
In Fig. 2 details of the structure and the sequence of effects are shown. Before the hollow needle 5 comes into operative connection with the rocker 21, it is locked with a first short hook-shaped lever arm 211 of the rocker 21 on the latching hook 25, see FIG. 2a. For this purpose, both the locking hook 25 are provided with a nose 251 and the short lever arm 211 with a nose 2111. The latching hook 25 is elastically bent in the direction of the short lever arm 211, so that both lugs 251, 2111 are non-positively hooked together.
The short lever arm 211 is also cushioned by the compression spring 24 towards the bottom 14 and is pressed by the same upwards against the locking hook 25. In this way, the fresh ink container 1 is adequately secured against unwanted triggering of the cover device 2.
The other second, somewhat longer lever arm 212 is designed such that an electrode 142 and the plug-in area of the hollow needle 5 lie in its swivel area. For the purpose of securely covering the electrode 142 or the bead 141 surrounding it, the lever arm 212 is provided on the inside with a correspondingly adapted covering 2121. In the plug-in area of the hollow needle 5, a tooth 2122 is integrally formed on the lever arm 212, on the front surface of which the inserted hollow needle 5 with the tip 52 abuts in a non-positive manner. When the hollow needle 5 hits the front surface of the tooth 2122 with its tip, the long lever arm 212 is pushed up and the short lever arm is pressed down against the spring force of the compression spring 24. As a result, the latch hook 25 is released and moves outside the swivel range of the short lever arm 211, see FIG. 2b. The cover device 2 is thus unlocked.
According to the transmission ratio between the two lever arms 211, 212 or the point of application of the compression spring 24 and the starting point of the tooth 2122, the long lever arm 212 with the tooth 2122 is non-positively against the hollow needle 5. If the hollow needle 5 is pulled out, the rocker 21 is pivoted about the axis 22 by the compression spring 24 to such an extent that the covering 2121 lies non-positively on the bead 141 and the tooth 2122 lies below the insertion area of the hollow needle 5. If the hollow needle 5 is inserted again, the rocker 21 remains in the position described. The electrical connection between the two electrodes 142 is thus interrupted and is continuously evaluated as the ink end. This means that printing with this fresh ink container is no longer possible.
