Definitions
- the present Patent of Invention relates to a depilatory wax heating apparatus that, in addition to the function for which it is designed, affords a number or advantages discussed hereinafter, and others that are inherent in its organisation and construction.
- Hair-removing methods consisting of applying layered hot wax and removing it once it has cooled down, thereby pulling out the hair, have been known from time immemorial.
- the prior art also includes the existence of non-reusable solid state wax containing cases provided with a device for applying the wax in a sheet-like layer, said cases being stored in specific apparatus which include heating means that liquefy said wax in order that it may be suitably applied. Said heating means are devised to let off sufficient heat in order for the wax, which is solid at room temperature, to be liquefied, acquiring a suitable viscous state enabling it to flow through the dispensing means included in the application head, to be spread on the skin in a sheet-like layer.
- the current apparatus designed to heat the cases aforesaid, of the kind including an application head consist of an enclosure provided at its mouth with one or several guide-like openings, suiting the cross-section of the wax containing case.
- a heating apparatus of the above kind can therefore house cases of differing sizes or capacities which are altogether heated through the heating means with which it is fitted.
- the heating means of apparatus known heretofore consist of tubular housings leading to said openings, said housings being made of a metallic material which conveys the heat generated by wire heater sandwiched between pressure-sensitive aluminium plates.
- the electric circuit includes a thermostat designed to automatically control the ideal wax melting temperature rendering the wax suitable to be applied on the skin.
- the present Patent of Invention has been devised to overcome the drawbacks summarily mentioned in the foregoing section, common in the prior art, resorting to such end to means heating the solid wax contained in the application cases up to the viscous state melting temperature, which means, after said ideal application temperature is attained, provide the heat required to hold the same stable for an unlimited time, and therefore any of the application cases located in the heating apparatus is in optimum conditions to be used.
- the said heating means are made of a material (PTC) that is connected to the mains and associated to the heat conveying metallic tubular housings where the wax applicators are located.
- PTC a material
- the PTC material serves as a heat controller, contributing whatever energy is required to maintain the scheduled heat, and concurrently controlling the same, making the use of a traditional thermostat unnecessary.
- Figure 1 is a perspective view of a depilatory wax application case heating apparatus.
- Figure 2 is a cross-section of the apparatus, along II-II.
- Figure 3 is a longitudinal section of the apparatus, along III-III, which figure shows an application case located in the relevant enclosure.
- Figure 4 is a perspective of the heat conveying metallic housing where the wax applicators are located, which housing has heat generating and temperature stabilising means on its outer face.
- Figure 1 of the preferred embodiment shows an external perspective overview of the heating apparatus, which consists of a receptacle, generally designated -1-, which could be said to be prism-shaped, rectangular in plan and having rounded or semicircular ends, open at the top, a body -2- being coupled at its mouth which includes the electrical connections with the mains lead -3-, that has a plug -4- for it to be plugged into the mains.
- a plinth -2a- is formed on said body -2- provided with a rectangular opening through which a pilot light -14-signalling whether the apparatus is on, is visible.
- the body -2- has a longitudinal furrow -5- at its base, with an opening -7- on its bottom that is perimetrically designed to snugly receive the section of one or several applicator cases, of the kind -6-.
- the said opening has purposely sized spaces -7a- and -7b- leading to a tubular housing -8- whose section is equivalent to the said opening -7-, which housing is made of heat conveying metallic plate and houses the full vertical length of the application cases -6-, save for their application head -6a-.
- the unit described has a cover -9- shaped to match the body -1-.
- the outer surface of the housing -8- has a clamp-10- to hold heat controlling and heating temperature stabilising means of the application cases, which means are designated -11- and comprise flat bars -12- connected to a conductor -13- and made of an electricity conducting material, known with the acronym PTC, which serves as a heat controlling member.
- a first objective of the invention has been- devised in order that once the ideal melting temperature is achieved for the solid wax contained in the application cases, said temperature is successfully controlled and hence stabilised, thereby allowing the applicators to be kept in working conditions for as long as desired.
- a second objective of the invention is designed to simplify the traditional heating means used heretofore in apparatus of this kind, eliminating the use of a heating wire or electrical resistor, plates or armouring for such resistor and a thermostat, with the consequent economic savings this entails, with a view to reducing product costs.
