Description

The invention relates to a double-ended electric lamp with a preferred Operating situation and a socket for such a lamp according to the preamble of Claims 1 or 5.

A combination of a bilateral corresponding to the preamble of claim 1 socketed electric lamp and a socket for such a lamp for double-ended high-pressure discharge lamps in the photo-optics sector are used, and common for their versions. They have been around for a long time Time available in stores. These sockets are usually in a projection device or integrated a reflector lamp, and the aforementioned double-sided High-pressure discharge lamps have a lamp bulb with two pedestals Ends that extend diametrically along the longitudinal axis of the lamp envelope. The lamp bulb ends are essentially, especially in the base area rotationally symmetrical with respect to the longitudinal axis of the lamp bulb, while the lamp itself is not rotationally symmetrical and a well-defined one preferred operating position. Such, the preamble of the claim 5 corresponding lamp is for example in the German patent application DE 29 17 745 or in the published patent application EP 0 477 668 A1.

The rotational symmetry of the lamp with respect to the longitudinal axis of the lamp bulb is destroyed, for example, by a pump stem attachment that is centered on the lamp bulb wall is arranged. When installing the lamp in a projector or a reflector lamp, the user must make sure that the pump stem attachment does not affect the optical imaging. To do this, it must be in the version inserted lamp in a certain position, their preferred operating position, rotated be, so that the pump stem approach to one for optical imaging is not used location. A serious disadvantage of the previously common two-sided socketed electric lamps with preferred operating position and their associated Versions are that they are not equipped with a positioning aid are guaranteed that the lamp only in the preferred operating position can be installed. The rotationally symmetrical structure in the base area of the Lamp bulb ends, in particular the base sleeves on the lamp bulb ends, as well as the matching versions allow almost any Installation position of the lamp, so that the user with the aforementioned lamps and Versions only with the help of an instruction manual about the professional installation inform and pay attention to the correct position of the pump stem attachment. If the user does not exercise sufficient care, this will result in cheap Case only for poor optical imaging and in the worst case even destroying the lamp.

The published patent application DE 29 17 745 describes one with an orientation aid provided gas discharge lamp. The orientation guide ensures that the lamp can only be used in an orientated version.

It is the object of the invention to have a double-ended electric lamp to provide a preferred operating position and a socket for such a lamp, the one positioning aid that is easy to install compared to the prior art own and which ensures that on the one hand with the base or lamp provided with the base sleeve only after correct alignment, that is, in the preferred operating position, in the optical equipped with the socket Device can be used, and on the other hand this lamp but also in optical Devices can be installed that still with the lamp sockets previously used are equipped.

This object is achieved by the characterizing features of Claim 1 and claim 5 solved. Particularly advantageous designs the invention are described in the dependent claims.

In the case of the combination according to the invention of a double-ended electrical The lamp bulb ends have a lamp and a holder for such a lamp a stop surface arranged perpendicular to the lamp's longitudinal axis, with steps are provided, the rotational symmetry of the lamp bulb ends in the base area cancel, while the socket contacts belonging to the socket, the clamping lie against the stop surfaces, with web-shaped ones that are matched to the steps Projections are equipped. The steps in the stop surface and the web-shaped Projections on the socket contacts form a positioning aid for the lamp. They ensure that the lamp is only inserted in the correct position in the socket can be. When inserting the lamp bulb ends into the designated one The steps in the stop surface and the effect of the socket contacts Web-shaped projections on the socket contacts as guide elements.

The steps are advantageously milled to a shallow depth in the stop surface or in the base of the base sleeve. These cutouts are easy to install and do not change the diameter of the lamp bulb ends in the mounting area of the lamp the length of the lamp, the means the distance between the stop surfaces, so that the lamp with the invention Socket can also be installed in devices that are still compatible with conventional ones Lamp holders without positioning aid are equipped.

The positioning aids are such on the stop surfaces and on the socket contacts attached that the lamp bulb ends and the socket contacts with respect of the lamp center are arranged point-symmetrically, that is, with a 180 ° rotation of the lamp and the socket around a suitable axis of rotation, which is arranged perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and the middle between the socket contacts or runs centrally between the lamp bulb ends, the first with the second capped lamp bulb end and the first with the second pressure spring to be brought to cover. This arrangement of the positioning aids Advantage that the two capped lamp bulb ends when installing the lamp in the version is equivalent, that is, interchangeable. Finally, must for lamps that are supplied with alternating current, not pay attention to the polarity of the electrical connections. Especially This arrangement of the positioning aids is advantageous in the case of alternating current operated lamps, the lamp bulb ends directly, without use of connecting cables between the lamp and the socket, as electrical connections are formed. On the other hand, it prevents Above arrangement of positioning aids, for example, that the Lamp with the top facing down is inserted into the socket.

The stop surface and the positioning aids on it are advantageously part of the applied to the lamp bulb ends metallic base sleeves. The socket sleeves and the socket contacts serve not only to hold the lamp, but also to electrical connection of the double-ended electric lamp.

Beide Sockelhülsen 4a, 4b sind identisch geformt.FIG. 1 shows a high-pressure discharge lamp 1 with a base on both sides with a socket according to a preferred embodiment of the invention pictured. The lamp is in particular a AC powered metal halide high pressure discharge lamp with an electrical power consumption of approx. 575 W. The also shown Socket contacts 2a, 2b of the socket are, for example, in a video projector or integrated into an overhead projector. The lamp 1 has a lamp bulb 3 made of quartz glass with two diametrically arranged on both sides of the discharge space 3c, sealed gas-tight Ends 3a, 3b, which extend along the longitudinal axis A-A of the lamp 1 extend. The lamp bulb 3 is identical to the discharge vessel here the lamp 1. The lamp bulb ends or discharge vessel ends 3a, 3b are piston shafts with gas-tight molybdenum sealing foils executed. The molybdenum sealing foils are used for power supply the lamp electrodes protruding into the discharge space 3c, between which there is a gas discharge during lamp operation trains. The piston shafts 3a, 3b each carry at their free ends a metallic base sleeve 4a, 4b, which with the or the molybdenum sealing films of the corresponding piston skirt electrically connected is. The lamp bulb 3 is rotationally symmetrical in the area of the bulb shafts 3a, 3b with respect to the lamp longitudinal axis A-A. In the area of Discharge space 3c becomes the rotational symmetry of the lamp bulb 3 through a pump stem attachment 5, which is from a melted pump stem stems from, destroyed. The high-pressure discharge lamp 1 becomes horizontal Location, that is operated with a horizontally running discharge path. During lamp operation, the lamp bulb 3 must be such be aligned so that the pump stem attachment 5 points upwards. To the To ensure correct installation position of the lamp 1, the metallic, in essentially rotationally symmetrical with respect to the lamp longitudinal axis A-A executed socket sleeves 4a, 4b on the free ends of the piston shafts 3a, 3ab, and the socket contacts 2a, 2b of the lamp holder coordinated positioning aids. The metallic Base sleeves 4a, 4b have two adjacent sections 6a, 7a and 6b, 7b of different diameters. The two tubular ones Sections 6a, 6b and 7a, 7b of each base sleeve 4a, 4b form a perpendicular annular disk-shaped arranged to the lamp longitudinal axis A-A Stop surface 8a or 8b. The first tubular section 6a or 6b of the Base sleeve 4a or 4b has a larger diameter than its second tubular section 7a or 7b. The free end of the piston skirt 3a or 3b is fixed in the first section 6a or 6b of the base sleeve 4a or 4b. The open end of the second tubular portion 7a or 7b closed by a metal base pin 9a or 9b. The stop faces 8a, 8b of the base sleeves 4a, 4b are each approximately 1.5 mm deep Milled 10a, 10b provided. These cutouts 10a, 10b each define a step in the stop surfaces 8a, 8b with a straight, vertical to the edge of the lamp longitudinal axis A-A. The depth of these cutouts 10a, 10b is less than the wall thickness of the base sleeves 4a, 4b in the area of the stop surfaces 8a, 8b. Both base sleeves 4a, 4b are identical shaped.

The socket contacts 2a, 2b are also shaped identically. They exist made of metal and have essentially the shape of an angle. The socket contacts 2a, 2b have a contact surface 11a and 11b and a bent at right angles from the lower edge of the contact surface 11a or 11b Base 12a or 12b. At the upper edge of the contact surface 12a or A slope 13a or 13b is formed on 12b. In the area of the contact surfaces 12a, 12b each have socket contacts 2a, 2b a slot-like Breakthrough 14a, 14b, which extends into the slope 13a or 13b. Moreover the socket contacts 2a, 2b each have a web-shaped projection 15a or 15b, which in addition to the slot-like opening 14a or 14b protrudes from the contact surface 11a or 11b and parallel to the Breakthrough 14a or 14b runs. The width of the slot-like openings 14a, 14b is based on the diameter of the second tubular sections 7a, 7b of the base sleeves 4a, 4b matched. The socket contacts 2a, 2b serve also for the electrical power supply of the lamp 1. The electrical contact is over the contact surfaces 11a, 11b of the socket contacts 2a, 2b and the stop surfaces 8a, 8b of the base sleeves 4a, 4b. The base sleeves 4a, 4b serve here directly, without using feed lines or Connection cables between lamp and socket, as electrical connections the lamp 1.

When the lamp 1 is inserted into the socket, the second sections engage 7a, 7b of the base sleeves 4a, 4b into the openings 14a, 14b of the socket contacts 2a, 2b, so that the contact surfaces 11a, 11b of the socket contacts 2a, 2b abut against the stop surfaces 8a, 8b of the base sleeves 4a, 4b. The web-shaped projections 15a, 15b of the socket contacts grip 2a, 2b into the cutouts 10a, 10b of the base sleeves 4a, 4b. The millings 10a, 10b and the web-shaped projections 15a, 15b ensure in combination with the as a receptacle for the base of the lamp bulb 7a, 7b serving openings 14a, 14b that the lamp 1 only with Pump stem attachment 5 pointing upwards into the socket contacts 2a, 2b the lamp holder can be used. The pump stem approach shows 5 when installing the lamp 1 down, for example, prevent the web-shaped Projections 15a, 15b that the base sleeve sections 7a, 7b in the Recordings 14a, 14b of the socket contacts 2a, 2b can be inserted.

The capped lamp bulb ends 3a, 3b and the socket contacts 2a, 2b with the positioning aids 10a, 10b, 15a, 15b are point symmetrical with respect the center of the lamp, the center of the lamp between the lamp bulb ends 3a, 3b or in the middle between the socket contacts 2a, 2b lies on the lamp longitudinal axis A-A. It means that the capped lamp bulb ends 3a, 3b and the socket contacts 2a, 2b with a 180 ° rotation of the lamp 1 and the holder by a suitable one Rotation axis that is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and centrally between the socket contacts 2a, 2b runs, the first 4a with the second socket Lamp bulb end 4b and the first 2a with the second pressure spring 2b and in particular the positioning aid 15a of the first 2a with the 15b of the second pressure spring 2b and the positioning aid 10a of the first 4a are brought into congruence with the 10b of the second lamp bulb end 4b. In particular, the point symmetry described above causes both Lamp bulb ends 3a, 3b are completely equivalent. The lamp 1 can be so oriented during installation that the lamp bulb end 4a either in the receptacle 14a of the pressure spring 2a or in the receptacle 14b engages the pressure spring 2b. The positioning aids 10a, 10b, 15a, 15b ensure that the lamp 1 only with the upward pointing Pump stem approach 5 can be used in the socket. Since the Positioning aids 10a, 10b, 15a, 15b according to the invention neither the distance of the stop surfaces 8a, 8b from each other the diameter of the Base sleeves 4a, 4b in the mounting area of the lamp 1 - this is the second tubular section 7a, 7b of the base sleeves 4a, 4b, which in the receptacle 14a, 14b of the socket contacts 2a, 2b engages - can change, the invention Lamp 1 can also be installed in optical devices that still are equipped with the conventional lamp holders.

The invention is not limited to the exemplary embodiment explained in more detail above. For example, the lamp can also be a high-pressure discharge lamp with a double-ended base, which is the Discharge vessel of the lamp encloses. In this case, the lamp bulb identical to the outer bulb. In addition, the pump stem approach also a different orientation than in the preferred embodiment exhibit. Furthermore, the preferred operating position of the lamp does not have to be must be defined by a pump stem approach. A sickle-like discharge vessel curved upwards can also be the preferred operating position the lamp. The preferred operating position of the lamp can but also essentially by the non-coaxial arrangement of one rod-shaped discharge vessel determined within the outer bulb become. Furthermore, the lamp can also be an incandescent lamp with a festoon-like Be the lamp bulb, the one on the lamp bulb has the translucency irregularity of the lamp bulb, such as Example has a pump stem approach.
