Description

The invention relates to a rotating machine grinding tool, the working surface of which is equipped with an abrasive, in particular a bonded abrasive cloth, and the abrasive provided therefor.

Rotating machine grinding tools with which grinding is carried out on an industrial scale, in particular in the furniture industry, can be divided into types of rotating grinding belts and rotating grinding wheels or rollers. The working surfaces of the grinding tools that can be brought into contact with the workpiece to be ground are equipped with abrasive abrasives. Such abrasives consist of a base made of paper, tissue or the like, the surface of which is provided with a layer of abrasive grains. Most of the time, it is about abrasive cloth glued to the work surfaces, which, due to its relatively short service life, must be replaced regularly by loosening the bond and then gluing new abrasive cloth on.

The working surfaces of the grinding tools are contoured accordingly for grinding profiles. The glued abrasive cloth is thin enough to be nestled into the contours. It has been shown that during profile grinding, point abutments of the abrasive can result on the profile to be ground, as a result of which undesirable "chatter marks" occur in the surface of the workpiece to be ground. In addition, the point support can locally lead to such high pressure that the frictional heat that occurs leads to "burning" of the abrasive. About that In addition, intermediate lacquer sanding with abrasive cloth is not possible because the lacquer layer is sanded through.

To overcome these disadvantages, it has already been proposed to replace abrasive lines with a foam strip, in whose corresponding abrasive surface to be brought into contact with the workpiece is grained abrasive material. Such a foam strip as an abrasive can only be used for intermediate sanding. The sanding to be achieved is not aggressive enough for sanding wood. In addition, it has been shown in particular in the case of rotating grinding tools that the core of the foam strip stretches due to centrifugal forces at speeds above 1200 rpm and the abrasive thereby becomes unstable. Another major disadvantage is that the workpiece to be ground rolls the abrasive formed from foam due to the abrasive pressure, which loosens the grain bond of the abrasive material on the abrasive surface and flaking occurs.

It is also possible for corners of the workpiece to penetrate the flexible elastic abrasive, as a result of which pieces can be torn out. The insertion and removal of the grinding tool therefore requires a great deal of technical effort on the corresponding units and machines.

The invention has for its object to provide a rotating machine grinding tool and an abrasive provided for its equipment, in which the disadvantages described above do not occur.

This object is achieved in that an elastic pad is arranged between the work surface and the abrasive cloth.

With the grinding tool according to the invention, as with a Abrasive cloths are sanded relatively aggressively, whereby the disadvantages do not occur due to the padding of the sanding cloth with an elastic pad. "Chatter marks" do not occur when grinding with the grinding tool according to the invention and the abrasive cannot burn; because no frictional heat builds up because the grinding pressure is even. The grinding tool is therefore advantageously suitable for grinding profiles, since there is a large-area abrasive support on the workpiece. Larger deviations in shape and dimensional tolerances are advantageously compensated for.

Compared to the abrasive, which is only suitable for intermediate varnish sanding and comprises a foam tape with abrasive grains bound to a surface, an abrasive tool equipped in this way has the advantage that the relatively soft pad is protected under the abrasive cloth so that pieces are not torn out. The mechanical strength of the abrasive cloth covering the pad prevents instability due to centrifugal forces.

A suitable foam with appropriate porosity and elasticity can therefore be selected for the upholstery.

A grinding tool, for example a rotating grinding wheel, can first be covered with a foam pad on its work surface in preparation for the grinding process. An abrasive cloth is then placed over it, covering the free surface of the foam pad.

The pad can be glued to the work surface, whereby the abrasive cloth can in turn be glued to the pad. In this way, contoured work surfaces of grinding tools can also be equipped for profile grinding.

The abrasive cloth and pad can be in the form of strips that are only cut to the appropriate length.

The abrasive cloth strip is particularly advantageously wider than the upholstery strip. This makes it possible to pull the longitudinal edges of the abrasive cloth strip over the longitudinal edges of the padded strip and to attach them to the grinding tool, for example a rotating grinding wheel, by gluing. The pad is completely encapsulated under the abrasive cloth and protected against mechanical influences.

An embodiment of the abrasive, with which a grinding tool can be equipped in the manner according to the invention, and for which independent protection is also claimed, provides that a central region of the abrasive cloth strip is coated with a cushioning strip. Appropriate prefabrication can thus be used to provide a one-piece abrasive consisting of upholstery and abrasive cloth, which is in the form of strips or strips. Sections of appropriate length can be cut from the abrasive strip with which the working surfaces of an abrasive tool can be equipped.

So that the equipment of contoured work surfaces is possible without any problems, at least one of the longitudinal edges of the abrasive strip has notches. Both longitudinal edges of the abrasive strip are preferably provided with corresponding notches, which facilitate nestling of the abrasive strip into corresponding contours in the working surface of an abrasive tool. The notches are attached in such a way that they protrude at least partially into the adjacent edge of the cushion strip. The padding strip on the underside of the loop This does not hinder the deformations necessary for nestling into the contours of the work surface.

The notches can be simple, more or less acute-angled incisions. The notches are preferably designed as a row of holes running parallel to the respective longitudinal edge of the abrasive, a longitudinal edge incision being made in each hole.

The pad strip can be attached to the underside of the abrasive cloth strip using appropriate means, for example adhesives.

In order to be able to fasten the abrasive according to the invention to a grinding tool, the undersides of the abrasive cloth strip and the cushion strip arranged on the work surface have a coating of adhesive that can be activated by preferably dissolving.

Das Polster 4 liegt dadurch geschützt unter dem gegen mechanische Belastungen relativ beständigen Schleifleinen 5.1 shows a schematic view of a grinding tool 1 in section. The grinding tool has a tool body 2 with a work surface 3 that can be pressed against a workpiece (not shown here). The work surface 3 is covered with a foam pad 4. Abrasive cloth 5 is placed over the upholstery is wider than the pad 4, so that its longitudinal edges 6 and 7 can be folded down, pulled over the side edges of the pad 4 and can be attached to the flank surfaces 8 and 9 of the tool body 2, for example by gluing. The pad 4 is thus protected under the abrasive cloth 5, which is relatively resistant to mechanical loads.

Of course, the pad 4 can also be glued to the work surface 3. Furthermore, it is possible to glue the abrasive cloth over the entire surface with the facing top of the cushion 4.

Fig. 2 shows a bottom view of an abrasive which is prefabricated in the form of a strip, a portion of which is shown here. The abrasive consists of the abrasive cloth strips 5, the central strip area of which is coated with a strip of cushion 4. Since the abrasive cloth strip 5 is wider than the upholstery strip 4, only the protruding longitudinal edges 6 and 7 are visible here, the longitudinal edges of the upholstery strip 4 being designated 10 and 11.

Notches 12 denote notches which are designed as a row of holes running parallel to the respective longitudinal edge 6, 7, a longitudinal edge incision 13 being made in each hole.

Fig. 3 shows a sectional view of the abrasive along the line III - III in Fig. 2. Under the abrasive cloth strips 5, the pad 4 is glued. The longitudinal edges of the abrasive cloth strip 5 are again designated 6 and 7, it being clearly visible here that the abrasive cloth 5 is wider than the cushion 4. As in FIG. 2, it can also be seen in FIG. 3 that the notches formed as a row of holes partially extend into the upholstery strip 4.

As indicated in FIG. 3, the undersides of the abrasive cloth strip 5 and the arranged cushion strip 4, which come to rest on the work surface 3 (FIG. 1), are provided with a coating 14 made of, for example, adhesives which can be activated by detachment.
