Abstract

When paper is pulled out from a vertically arranged roll of household paper (6) it is screwed up and must be flattened before it can be used for wiping purposes. This is because the roll (6) is unwound from the inside and outwards. According to the invention, substantially flat paper (5) can be obtained if the paper (5) is unwound from the outside and inwards and if the paper (5) is allowed to pass the edge of a disc (8) having a diameter larger than that of a full roll of paper.

Description

PAPER DISPENSER
The present invention relates to a paper dispenser for household and toilet use. A dispenser may supply paper for wiping purposes in which case it is presented in units that are individually folded and stacked on top of each other. Removing a unit from such a dispenser is somewhat complicated since the folded unit must be withdrawn through a gap. For this reason it has been suggested that paper from an ordinary kitchen roll shall be used for wiping purposes. Such a kitchen roll is produced without an inner cylinder for the paper to be rolled onto, and is placed vertically in a dispenser, the paper being unwound from the centre of the roll outwards, through a central opening in the dispenser. This means that the paper is screwed up when it emerges and must therefore be flattened out before use. Naturally such a dispenser functions satisfactorily but is somewhat laborious. r^
The object of the present invention is to provide a dispenser from which paper from a roll emerges flat instead of screwed up. This is enabled according to the present invention, if a roll of paper is arranged vertically about a cylindrical rod around which the roll of paper can rotate. A unit is attached at the lower end of the rod, said unit having an edge defining a circle, the mid-point of the circle being parallel to the axis of the rod. If the roll of paper is unwound from the outside inwards and if it passes said circular edge before reaching the consumer, it will be in flat state when withdrawn.
The paper dispenser may consist of a cover, at the upper end of which a cylindrical rod or body is attached and about which rod or body the roll of paper is arranged. At the lower end of the rod is a disc having greater diameter than the diameter of a fully wound roll of paper.
The present invention will be described in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawing showing one embodiment of a paper dispenser.
In the drawing 1 is a casing of metal or plastic, or of any other material. It is preferably cylindrical in shape but may naturally be any shape at all, such as conical. The casing is closed at its top end by a part 2, while being completely open at its lower end 3. A cylindrical body or rod 7 is attached by one end to the upper end 2 of the casing. A roll of paper 6, which may consist of a conventional roll of kitchen paper, is arranged along the rod 7. A disc 8 is secured at the lower end of the cylindrical bodv 7 with the aid of a screw 9. The disc may be any suitable shape, either flat or curved. Its diameter is greater than that of the paper roll 6 when fully wound. The paper roll 6 is unwound from the outside inwards and its free end 5 is allowed to pass the edge of the disc 8, with the result that the end of the paper emerging below the disc is substantially flat. The casing 1 is provided at its upper end with a bracket 10 to permit simple attachment of the paper dispenser to a wall.

Claims

C L A I M S
1. A dispenser for obtaining paper from one end of the paper in a roll such as a roll of household paper intended for wiping purposes, said roll of paper being arranged in a cover or casing designed for attachment to a wall in such a manner that the roll is substantially vertically journalled, the casing being closed at both ends of the roll with the exception of a passage for paper at the lower end of the roll, characterised in that the roll (6) is rotatably journalled about a cylindrical body
(7) arranged inside the cover (1) and secured at its upper end (2), and that a body
(8) is arranged at the other end of the body (7), the outer edge of the body (8) defining a circle the central axis of which coincides with the axis of the cylindrical body (7), said outer edge being designed as an edge to support paper (5) pulled from the outer end of the roll of paper (6).
2. A paper dispenser as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that said circle (8) has a diameter greater than the diameter of a full roll of paper (6).
