Description

The present invention relates to an insulating stop for a rail fastener.

Many railroad networks have adopted an information transport principle according to which the signal and, in particular, the electric currents circulate in the rail thanks to the conductive properties of the latter.

This principle requires excellent electrical insulation of the rail lines, which is then ensured by the lateral stop associated with the attachment of the system for fixing the rails to the sleepers.

The insulating lateral stops have very varied geometries depending on the fixing system of which they are a part. They are generally made of a plastic material allowing a good compromise to be obtained between mechanical and electrical properties.

The known insulating stops comprise a front part for bearing against the shoe of the rail, a base resting in a corresponding housing of the cross member, an upper part for supporting the fastener provided with means for supporting the rear end of said fastener and a central through hole for the passage of an anchoring member and a rear part provided with a wedging face against the rear wall of the cross member housing.

However, such stops are heavy and massive and are difficult to produce in plastic material by injection molding due to internal tensions and cavities linked to the phenomenon of thermal shrinkage.

The present invention aims to solve the above technical problems by providing that the upper part has a central depression whose bottom is inclined downward from front to rear, which is laterally flanked by two symmetrical reinforcing ribs and limited towards the rear by the support means of the fastener.

According to an advantageous characteristic, the central through hole is extended upward by a portion of cylinder to open into the depression slightly above the upper face of the ribs.

According to another characteristic, the inclined bottom communicates at the rear with a groove made through the support means of the fastener and opening out at the rear part.

According to yet another characteristic, each reinforcing rib is connected by its outer edge to a lateral wing.

According to a preferred embodiment, said support means of the rear end of the fastener consist of two symmetrical cradles connected transversely to the respective rear end of each rib and the two cradles are arranged on either side of said groove at the upper face of the ribs.

According to an alternative embodiment, the base comprises a central inclined face corresponding to the underside of the depression, bordered by two concave lateral spoils. The lower end of the remains and that of the inclined face are joined by a transverse support face which transmits to the cross member the pressure from the rear end of the fastener and the transverse support face is connected to the rear wedging face s 'extending substantially vertically and in a plane approximately perpendicular to the cradles.

In addition, the thickness of the wall of the cylinder portion is determined so as to avoid excessive bending of the fastener by forming a support stop for the blade, which consequently limits the bending deformations of the assembly. of fixation.

Furthermore, provision is made to limit the bending of the stop when fixing the fastener by means of at least one protuberance produced on said base and intended to come into bearing contact against the upper face of the housing of the crosses from a predetermined bending force.

Indeed, in the event of excessive tightening of the anchoring member of the fastener, the bending of the stop may exceed the accepted value, which may cause cracks or even a rupture.

The protuberance of the base makes it possible to avoid these phenomena.

The stop of the invention is lighter and more compact than existing stops while offering a high resistance to compression generated by the transverse forces of the rail thanks to the specific geometry of the transition volumes between the upper part, the base, the rear part and the front part.

In addition, this stop has no solid parts and can therefore be easily manufactured by injection molding without the phenomenon of air withdrawal or inclusion being detrimental to the quality and effectiveness of the finished product.

The invention will be better understood on reading the description which follows, accompanied by the drawings in which:
  • Figure 1 shows a perspective view of the stop of the invention cooperating with a rail fastening system;
  • 2 shows a top view of the stop of Figure 1;

  • FIG. 5 represents an exploded perspective view of a system for fixing a rail comprising a stop according to the invention.

The stop B shown in Figures 1 to 5 comprises a front part 1 of support against the shoe of the rail R, a base 2 resting in a corresponding housing L of the cross T, an upper part 3 of support for the fastener A consisting of a leaf spring and a rear part 4 comprising a wedging face 40 against the rear wall of the housing L of the cross member T.

The front part 1 has two angled faces 11, 12 matching the lateral edge of the rail pad R (see FIGS. 3 and 5).

The upper part 3 is provided with support means 36 of the rear end of the fastener A and a central through hole 34 for the passage of the anchor member X in the cross member T (see FIGS. 2 and 5).

In FIGS. 1 and 2, the upper part 3 also includes a central depression or recess 33, the bottom 330 of which is inclined downwards from the front towards the rear of the stop.

A.The depression 33 is flanked laterally by two symmetrical ribs 31, 32 of reinforcement and is limited towards the rear by the support means 36 of the fastener A.

The depression 33 rises gradually forward to the level of a flat rim 30 on which the front part of the fastener comes to bear.

The inclined bottom 330 communicates at its lower rear end, with a groove 35 opening onto the cross-member T directly above the rear part 4 and intended to evacuate water infiltration. The groove 35 is formed through the support means 36 of the fastener A and thus separates them into two symmetrical parts.

La face supérieure des nervures 31,32 de renfort est située à un niveau légèrement inférieur à celui du rebord plat 30.The upper face of the reinforcing ribs 31, 32 is situated at a level slightly lower than that of the flat edge 30.

Each rib 31, 32 is connected by its outer edge to a lateral wing 310, 320 which reinforces the stability in compression.

The central orifice 34 is extended upwards by a portion of cylinder 37 to open into the depression 33 above the level of the upper face of the ribs 31, 32.

A.The upper edge of the wall of the cylinder 37 thus constitutes a support stop for the central part of the fastener A. The thickness of the wall of the cylinder 37 is determined so as to avoid excessive bending of the fastener A.

The support means 36 of the rear end of the fastener A consist of two symmetrical cradles 361,362 on either side of the groove 35 connected transversely to the respective rear end of each rib 31,32.

The bottom of the cradles 361,362 is located at a lower level relative to the upper face of the ribs 31,32 while their upper front edge is located at the same level.

In FIGS. 1 and 3, the base 2 of the stop B has a central inclined face 22 corresponding to the underside of the depression 33 whose inclination is the same as that of the bottom 330 and where the central orifice 34 opens.

The pan 22 is bordered over its entire length with two concave and symmetrical side drafts 23, 24.

A.The lower end of the bodies 23,24 and that of the inclined face 22 corresponds to the lowest point of the base 2, are joined by a transverse support face 21 which transmits the support pressure from the rear end of the fastener to the cross-member T

The transverse face 21 is connected to the rear face 40 of wedging the rear part 4 extending substantially vertically and in a plane approximately perpendicular to the cradles 361,362.

La face arrière 40 vient en appui contre la paroi interne arrière du logement L de la traverse T.The rear face 40 bears against the rear internal wall of the housing L of the cross member T.

The width of the upper part 3 located above the cross member T is greater than that of the base 2 housed in the cross member so that the underside of the lateral wings 310, 320 normally rests on the upper face of the cross member T while the lateral faces of the bodies 23, 24 are in contact with the internal lateral walls of the housing L (see FIG. 5).

A.The wedging face 40 of the rear part 4 is extended horizontally by a face 41 resting on the upper face of the cross-member T and reflecting, just like the support face 21, part of the forces from the rear end of the fastener AT.

The horizontal face 41 is provided over its entire width with a groove 42 at the junction with the wedging face 40.

The stop represented in FIG. 4 conforms to that which is illustrated in FIGS. 1 to 3, but its base 2 further comprises at least one and preferably two protrusions or frustoconical lugs 251, 252 arranged symmetrically on either side of the inclined face central 22.

These protrusions are intended to come into bearing contact against the upper face of the housing L of the cross-member T during the bending of the stop from a predetermined clamping force. These protrusions 251, 252 thus limit the bending of the stop and prevent the appearance of any phenomenon of deformation or rupture.

Advantageously, the protrusions 251,252 are produced in the undercuts 23,24 midway between the front and rear support zones of the stop, that is to say in the zone where the amplitude of the bending is maximum .

At rest, before tightening of the anchoring member, the clearance situated between the lower end of the protrusions 251, 252 and the upper face of the housing L is between 0.5 and 3 mm. After tightening, there should be little play. If the tightening is excessive, the protrusions come to bear against the upper face of the housing L and the deformation of the bending is limited.

This additional support can have drawbacks for certain applications; for this purpose by a judicious choice of the geometry of the protrusions associated with the creep or relaxation properties of the material, it is possible to obtain a bearing force whose value decreases rapidly over time to become almost zero.

The bearing force is therefore only effective when it is useful, that is to say during tightening.

According to an advantageous embodiment, the protuberances are produced in the form of frustoconical elements. The lower support face of these elements has a circular section whose surface is for example less than or equal to 2 cm 2 . Equivalent results can also be obtained with hemispherical protuberances. The protrusions 251, 252 are produced in one piece with the stop directly by injection molding.

The stop shown in Figure 4, also includes on the inclined face 22, a vertical lug 26 for wedging intended to be inserted into a corresponding slot formed in the housing L.

Selon un autre mode de réalisation (non représenté) la protubérance est réalisée sur la base 2 sous forme d'un cylindre entourant l'orifice central 34.According to another embodiment (not shown), the protuberance is produced on the base 2 in the form of a cylinder surrounding the central orifice 34.

Under these conditions, it is the lower annular section of the wall of the cylinder which comes during bending, pressing against the upper face of the housing L.
