A process for controlling the use of a motor vehicle with the aid of a code signal comprising two parts, which is contained in a code store (S) carried by the user, with a code comparator (V) which is contained in the vehicle and into which the code signal is entered and which releases the use on agreement with a reference code signal, characterised in that by means of an access control device controlled by the code converter (V) in each case only a part code signal is released for a read-out process and that the release for a second part code signal (2) is only provided when a first read-out code signal (3) agrees with the corresponding reference part code signal.
    2. A process according to Claim 1, characterised in that the first part code signal read out is individualised and specific to the store and is not changed.
    3. A process according to Claim 1 or Claim 2, characterised in that the second part code signal is changed on each use of the motor vehicle.
    4. A process according to Claim 3, characterised in that the second part code signal is written in during a previous use of the vehicle.
    5. A process according to Claim 3 or Claim 4, characterised in that the second part code signal is read afresh after being written in and that on agreement with the part code signal written in, only the first part code signal is released to be read by the access control device.
