Electric switch with a housing (1) which accommodates at least one fixed contact element and a corresponding switch contact element and on which at least one actuating member is movably supported, the switching positions of which influence the switch contact element, whereby the switch incorporates a curved profile contrivance (2) defining the switching positions which cooperates with a spring-loaded push facility (3) pertaining to the actuating member for the purpose of generating the actuating forces, and whereby the housing features a flexibly outswinging retention device by way of which the electric switch can be accurately fixed in its locked position in a recess of a receptacle, characterized by the fact that at least one actuating member of the electric switch is connected to the retention device by way of a shifting device and can be moved by increasing the force expenditure to an operational position which does not conform with the switching positions and in which the retention device attains its unlocked position.
  2. Electric switch in accordance with claim 1, characterized by the fact that the operational position of the actuating member in relation to its direction of actuation is arranged in advance of a switching position.
  3. Electric switch in accordance with either of claims 1 or 2, characterized by the fact that the operational position of the actuating member in relation to its direction of actuation is arranged subsequent to a switching position.
  4. Electric switch in accordance with any of claims 1 to 3, characterized by the fact that the operational position of the actuating member is attained by a movement of which the actuating direction differs from the direction(s) of actuation required to attain the switching position(s).
  5. Electric switch in accordance with any of claims 1 to 4, characterized by the fact that the operational position of the actuating member is attained by way of a movement which comprises several superimposed directions of actuation.
  6. Electric switch in accordance with any of claims 1 to 5, characterized by the fact that the increased force expenditure required to reach the operational position is attained by way of the interaction between the curved profile contrivance (2) and the push facility (3).
  7. Electric switch in accordance with any of claims 1 to 6, characterized by the fact that the retention device encompasses at least one clip element (4) which is guided in a sliding manner in the housing (1) and is moved to its locked position by the force of a helical pressure spring (8).
  8. Electric switch in accordance with any of claims 1 to 7, characterized by the fact that the shifting device is moulded in one piece onto the underside of the actuating member facing the retention device.
  9. Electric switch in accordance with claim 8, characterized by the fact that the shifting device consists of at least one shoulder (10) formed onto the underside of the actuating member of which the shoulder edge corresponds to an actuating nose (9) moulded onto the clip element (4).
  10. Electric switch in accordance with claim 9, characterized by the fact that the shoulder edge of the shifting device features an actuating field which is slanted in relation to its direction of displacement.
  11. Electric switch in accordance with either of claims 9 or 10, characterized by the fact that the actuating nose (9) moulded onto the clip element (4) features a flank slanted towards the direction of displacement of the clip element (4) to come to bear on the slanted actuating field of the shifting device.
  12. Electric switch in accordance with any of claims 1 to 11, characterized by the fact that the retention device incorporates two clip elements (4) guided in the housing in a slidable manner.
  13. Electric switch in accordance with any of claims 1 to 12, characterized by the fact that the actuating member is formed as a combined shift knob (5) to transmit rotary, pull and push motions of which the cup-shaped underside facing the retention device is extended in a steplike manner by two shoulders (10) forming the shifting device, whereby the front shoulder edge of each shoulder (10) corresponds to an actuating nose (9) of the two clip elements (4) guided in the housing (1) in a slidable manner, and whereby the rotary axis (6) of the combined shift knob (5) is equipped with two retaining chambers, each of which holds a spring-loaded push facility (3), each of which is assigned to a curved profile contrivance (2) which is held in a fixed position in the housing (1).
  14. Electric switch in accordance with claim 17, characterized by the fact that the operational position of the actuating member is attained by way of a combined push/rotational displacement.
  15. Electric switch in accordance with claim 1 or any of the following, characterized by the fact that at least one actuating member is designed as a rocker switch.
  16. Electric switch in accordance with claim 1 or any of the following, characterized by the fact that at least one actuating member is designed as a rotary knob.
  17. Electric switch in accordance with claim 1 or any of the following, characterized by the fact that at least one actuating member is designed as a push button.
  18. Electric switch in accordance with claim 1 or any of the following, characterized by the fact that at least one actuating member is designed as a sliding switch.
