Definitions
- the invention relates to an extractor hood with at least partial cancellation of the fan noise by sound compensation with at least one built-in fan and a flow channel that connects the suction area to the fan, with a reference microphone for recording the noise of the fan to be compensated, with at least one sound source and an error microphone, which is arranged in the flow direction in front of the sound source, in particular in the suction area of the extractor hood, and with a signal processing unit connected to the reference microphone, the sound source and the error microphone, which, from the signals of the reference microphone and the error microphone serving as an input signal, at least one output signal supplied to the sound source partial cancellation of the noise generated.
- Extractor hoods for extracting steam generated during cooking and roasting in the range are known in many embodiments.
- air mixed with cooking fumes drawn in by a fan or by a pair of fans is either returned to the room in recirculation mode after it has been cleaned, or is extracted to the outside in an exhaust air mode via an extraction duct.
- a correspondingly high delivery rate of the fan is required to achieve a sufficient suction effect. Since the impeller diameter of the fans used must be kept small in view of the known overall dimensions of the extractor hood, high fan speeds are required to achieve the desired delivery rate, which reach up to 3,000 rpm with radial fans.
- the superimposed compensation sound field is very precisely equal in amplitude and must be in phase opposition, and that the directions of propagation of the interference sound and the compensation sound field must also match. Furthermore, transient transmission characteristics of the sound propagation path have to be considered.
- a corresponding arrangement can consist of a tube in which both the sound and the air flow propagate. The direction of the air flow is in principle not important for sound compensation.
- the reference microphone is arranged in the tube in the area of the sound inlet for picking up the noise.
- an electro-acoustic transducer (loudspeaker) for generating the compensation sound field.
- the distance between the reference microphone and the loudspeaker essentially results from the condition that, during the sound propagation between the reference microphone and the loudspeaker, all the necessary calculations by the computing unit of the signal processing unit must be completed, taking into account all delays and phase shifts, so that the compensation sound field through the loudspeaker can be generated simultaneously and in phase with the noise.
- the residual sound remaining after the compensation is picked up by means of an error microphone, which is arranged behind the sound source in the direction of sound propagation or at least at the same distance from it and supplies the control variable for readjusting the signal processing unit.
- Essential components of the signal processing unit are usually one or more digital filters, the filter coefficients of which can be adapted in such a way that the simulation of the sound transmission path required for noise compensation is always optimal, taking into account the feedback effects between the sound source and the reference microphone, for example according to the method of the smallest sum of squares.
- the generally known prior art includes an electronic noise attenuation system according to DE 39 08 881 A1 and a low-noise turbomachine, which is shown in DE 32 09 617 A1. Furthermore, the Russian patent specification 836 653 provides corresponding general information on the construction of a sound compensation arrangement.
- the invention is based on the above-mentioned prior art, the task is to design an extractor hood so that at one under economically acceptable cost, an at least partial cancellation of the noise generated by the fan is achieved.
- the solution according to the invention is that in an extractor hood of the type described at the outset, the channel length of the flow channel is increased compared to the linear guide.
- the term "detour” is understood to mean an extension of the flow channel compared to the linear configuration forming the shortest connection. As a result of this detour, which increases the flow resistance, there is sufficient time in the computer in the signal processing unit to be able to calculate the compensation signal from the input signals supplied. This means that the necessary arithmetic operations can also be carried out with relatively simple computers.
- the noise cancellation is preferably carried out by the signal processing unit only for tonal frequencies or quasi-periodic noises. Furthermore, it can advantageously be provided that the noise cancellation is limited to frequencies below 2,000 Hz, preferably below 1,500 Hz. An analysis of the fan noise reveals maxima of the signal amplitudes at frequencies below 2,000 Hz. In preferred cases even below 1,500 Hz.
- the signal processing for the noise cancellation can therefore be limited to frequencies below 2,000 Hz, preferably below 1,500 Hz will.
- the noise components occurring above these frequencies can advantageously be suppressed by means of additional passive sound absorbers, which in principle have a better effectiveness at low frequencies than at low frequencies.
- the training can expediently be such that a synchronization sensor is used instead of the reference microphone to synchronize the sound source with the noise generated by the fan.
- the flow channel U-shaped, L-shaped, C-shaped, helical, helical or spiral. It should be noted that on the one hand the flow resistance of the flow channel is kept small and on the other hand the acoustic properties of the flow channel are as close as possible to the The conditions described above with regard to one-dimensionality of the sound field, linearity and causality are approximated.
- the noise reduction can advantageously be supported by passive, constructive measures.
- the wall surfaces of the flow channel can also expediently have irregular surface changes, for example grains, or sound-absorbing coatings.
- the flow channel can also be advantageous to divide the flow channel into two or more acoustically decoupled subchannels.
- These sub-channels are expediently formed by air baffles, which are advantageously guided in such a way that flow separations are reduced or avoided.
- Another advantageous special feature can be that the flow channel or the partial channels or the interior of the extractor hood is provided with sound absorbers.
- two single-sided or double-sided suction radial fans are arranged side by side or one behind the other and that the two radial fans are housed in spiral housings, which are designed as air guiding elements for the air flow in the interior of the extractor hood.
- the housing interior of the extractor hood is part of the exhaust air duct.
- FIG. 1 shows a suction screen 1 of an extractor hood for exhaust air operation, which has a filter plate 2 at its suction opening.
- a flow channel 3 which rises in a straight line and opens at its upper end into a housing 5 of a radial fan 4.
- the extractor hood In the area of the noise source, ie the radial fan 4, there is a reference microphone 7 and in the suction area the extractor hood has a sound generator 8 and a fault microphone 9.
- the measured variables of the reference microphone 7 and the error microphone 9 are fed to a signal processing unit 6 as input variables.
- the output variable of the signal processing unit 6 feeds the sound generator 8.
- a detour according to the invention is provided in the embodiment of FIG. 2 by curved design of the flow channel 10.
- the left, vertical leg 11 opens to the suction screen 1 of the extractor hood, while the right vertical leg 12 forms an outlet to the fan housing 5 of the radial fan 4.
- the signal processing unit 6, like the sound source 8, can be accommodated in the free interior 13 enclosed by the detour duct of the exhaust air duct 10.
- the exhaust air duct can be accommodated in a wall cupboard of a kitchen unit.
- FIG. 3 which is shown from the side for clarification in FIG. 4, two radial fans 14 and 15 arranged next to one another are provided.
- the two fan housings 16 and 17 open into a common exhaust outlet 18.
- the reference microphone 7 is located on the wall-side end of a horizontal transition piece 21 connected to the vertically rising part of the flow channel 19.
- the flow channel 19 opens backwards into the two fan housings 16, 17 of the two radial fans 14, 15 and the common fan outlet 22 is with an outlet connection 23 connected.
- the individual parts not mentioned correspond to those of the embodiment according to FIG. 1.
- the sound source 8 can advantageously consist of one or more loudspeakers.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to an extractor hood with at least partial cancellation of the fan noise by sound compensation with at least one built-in fan and a flow channel that connects the suction area to the fan, with a reference microphone for recording the noise of the fan to be compensated, with at least one sound source and an error microphone, which is arranged in the flow direction in front of the sound source, in particular in the suction area of the extractor hood, and with a signal processing unit connected to the reference microphone, the sound source and the error microphone, which, from the signals of the reference microphone and the error microphone serving as an input signal, at least one output signal supplied to the sound source partial cancellation of the noise generated.
Extractor hoods for extracting steam generated during cooking and roasting in the range are known in many embodiments. In this case, air mixed with cooking fumes drawn in by a fan or by a pair of fans is either returned to the room in recirculation mode after it has been cleaned, or is extracted to the outside in an exhaust air mode via an extraction duct.
A correspondingly high delivery rate of the fan is required to achieve a sufficient suction effect. Since the impeller diameter of the fans used must be kept small in view of the known overall dimensions of the extractor hood, high fan speeds are required to achieve the desired delivery rate, which reach up to 3,000 rpm with radial fans.
When the extractor hood is in operation, this creates a clearly prominent fan noise, which, depending on the fan type used, has a complex frequency and amplitude spectrum, which is composed of a broadband flow noise and speed-determined, harmonic components. Experience has shown that the noise amplitudes are greatest in the area of the blading of the fan wheel, because the greatest speed gradients and associated pressure fluctuations occur there. Due to the large open suction surfaces in the suction area of the sound-permeable filter surface, the possibilities for sound insulation are greatly restricted by using sound-absorbing insulation material. In addition there are restrictions regarding the frequency range, fire protection regulations and the requirement to keep the generally porous sound absorber surfaces clean and thus to make them accessible for cleaning. Based on these Circumstances are perceived as particularly annoying, particularly in the case of the higher fan power levels that are usually available as options.
The physical principle of "active sound compensation", i.e. the at least partial cancellation of noise by superimposing an antiphase signal, sometimes referred to as "anti-noise" or "counter-noise", is known.
Einen Überblick über den Stand der Technik auf dem Gebiet der aktiven Schallkompensation geben die Veröffentlichungen D. Guicking: Active Noise Control - Achievements, Problems and Perspectives, IEICEJ Technical Report Vol. 91, No. 1 (April 12, 1991), pages 1-10, Paper No. E A 91-1 sowie D. Guicking: Active Noise Control - A Review based on Patent Specifications, Proceedings of the International Noise and Vibration Control Conference, May 31 - June 3, 1993, St. Petersburg, Russia, Vol. 2, pages 153 - 158. The publications D. Guicking: Active Noise Control - Achievements, Problems and Perspectives, IEICEJ Technical Report Vol. 91, No. provide an overview of the state of the art in the field of active sound compensation. 1 (April 12, 1991), pages 1-10, Paper No. EA 91-1 and D. Guicking: Active Noise Control - A Review based on Patent Specifications, Proceedings of the International Noise and Vibration Control Conference, May 31 - June 3, 1993, St. Petersburg, Russia, Vol. 2, pages 153 - 158. From these publications it is known to record the background noise to be compensated for by means of a reference microphone and to use this to calculate a compensation noise which is superimposed on the background noise by means of a sound source, whereby the background noise is at least partially canceled. The replacement of the reference microphone with a synchronization sensor is also mentioned in the first-mentioned publication.
It is also known that because of the almost logarithmic relationship between the sound pressure and the volume perception of the human ear, the superimposed compensation sound field is very precisely equal in amplitude and must be in phase opposition, and that the directions of propagation of the interference sound and the compensation sound field must also match. Furthermore, transient transmission characteristics of the sound propagation path have to be considered.
The high demands on the accuracy and speed of the signal processing led to the fact that industrial applications for sound compensation by means of adaptive digital filters in systems which are simple from an acoustic point of view only became known in recent years.
One such application, which corresponds to the prior art, is the compensation of predominantly low-frequency interference noise in a straight ventilation duct, which enables approximately one-dimensional sound propagation and has an approximately linear transmission characteristic which is the same for all noise components. A corresponding arrangement can consist of a tube in which both the sound and the air flow propagate. The direction of the air flow is in principle not important for sound compensation.
It is also known to improve the sound compensation by performing a correction of the compensation sound by recording the residual sound remaining in the superimposition by means of an error microphone, the error microphone acting back on the computing unit of the signal processing unit.
In the arrangement discussed first, the reference microphone is arranged in the tube in the area of the sound inlet for picking up the noise. There is a defined distance in the direction of sound propagation an electro-acoustic transducer (loudspeaker) for generating the compensation sound field. The distance between the reference microphone and the loudspeaker essentially results from the condition that, during the sound propagation between the reference microphone and the loudspeaker, all the necessary calculations by the computing unit of the signal processing unit must be completed, taking into account all delays and phase shifts, so that the compensation sound field through the loudspeaker can be generated simultaneously and in phase with the noise.
The residual sound remaining after the compensation is picked up by means of an error microphone, which is arranged behind the sound source in the direction of sound propagation or at least at the same distance from it and supplies the control variable for readjusting the signal processing unit.
Essential components of the signal processing unit are usually one or more digital filters, the filter coefficients of which can be adapted in such a way that the simulation of the sound transmission path required for noise compensation is always optimal, taking into account the feedback effects between the sound source and the reference microphone, for example according to the method of the smallest sum of squares. There are a number of algorithms according to which the necessary calculations are carried out, for example by means of a microprocessor or signal processor.
An arrangement for noise compensation is known from US Pat. No. 5,206,911 which only requires an error microphone. A reference microphone is not used. This assumes that the background noise has a certain predictability or quasi-periodicity. For example, it can be composed at least to a considerable extent of a few discrete frequency components or be correlated with an operating parameter of the noise generator, such as the speed.
For many applications of active sound compensation, the previously known principle proves not to be applicable because the physical requirements regarding the properties of the sound field do not exist or because the computing capacity required to calculate the compensation sound field in the signal processing unit would cause impracticably high costs.
Especially for the present application in an extractor hood, which can be intended for installation in kitchen wall cabinets, the conditions regarding the acoustic properties of the flow channel, which must also allow sufficient air throughput, have been unsuitable for active sound compensation and the associated signal processing as too considered costly.
The generally known prior art includes an electronic noise attenuation system according to DE 39 08 881 A1 and a low-noise turbomachine, which is shown in DE 32 09 617 A1. Furthermore, the Russian patent specification 836 653 provides corresponding general information on the construction of a sound compensation arrangement.
The invention is based on the above-mentioned prior art, the task is to design an extractor hood so that at one under economically acceptable cost, an at least partial cancellation of the noise generated by the fan is achieved. The solution according to the invention is that in an extractor hood of the type described at the outset, the channel length of the flow channel is increased compared to the linear guide. The term "detour" is understood to mean an extension of the flow channel compared to the linear configuration forming the shortest connection. As a result of this detour, which increases the flow resistance, there is sufficient time in the computer in the signal processing unit to be able to calculate the compensation signal from the input signals supplied. This means that the necessary arithmetic operations can also be carried out with relatively simple computers.
In bevorzugten Fällen sogar unterhalb von 1.500 Hz.It may be expedient additionally or in general that the noise cancellation is preferably carried out by the signal processing unit only for tonal frequencies or quasi-periodic noises.
In this frequency range, noises are perceived by the human ear as particularly unpleasant. To avoid an unnecessarily costly signal processing effort, the signal processing for the noise cancellation can therefore be limited to frequencies below 2,000 Hz, preferably below 1,500 Hz will. The noise components occurring above these frequencies can advantageously be suppressed by means of additional passive sound absorbers, which in principle have a better effectiveness at low frequencies than at low frequencies.
Particularly in the case of predominantly tonal frequencies or quasi-periodic noise components, the training can expediently be such that a synchronization sensor is used instead of the reference microphone to synchronize the sound source with the noise generated by the fan.
This is particularly advantageous if a fan type is selected, the background noise of which has less a broadband spectrum than tonal frequencies. Radial fans have proven to be such fans, in particular if they have blades which are curved backwards with respect to the direction of rotation and if appropriate have a special housing geometry.
Surprisingly, it has been shown that effective extractor noise compensation of the fan noise can be achieved with a reasonable amount of effort, in particular with regard to the signal processing unit, for extractor hoods.
It can be advantageous to design the flow channel U-shaped, L-shaped, C-shaped, helical, helical or spiral. It should be noted that on the one hand the flow resistance of the flow channel is kept small and on the other hand the acoustic properties of the flow channel are as close as possible to the The conditions described above with regard to one-dimensionality of the sound field, linearity and causality are approximated.
Furthermore, the noise reduction can advantageously be supported by passive, constructive measures. For this purpose, it can be advantageous for the flow channel to have wall surfaces at least in sections such that the intensity of sound reflections transverse to the direction of flow is reduced. For this purpose, it appears advantageous to design the wall surfaces of the flow channel while largely avoiding parallel wall surface sections, such as occur, for example, in the case of a rectangular or circular cross section. The wall surfaces of the flow channel can also expediently have irregular surface changes, for example grains, or sound-absorbing coatings.
In a further embodiment, it can also be advantageous to divide the flow channel into two or more acoustically decoupled subchannels. These sub-channels are expediently formed by air baffles, which are advantageously guided in such a way that flow separations are reduced or avoided. Another advantageous special feature can be that the flow channel or the partial channels or the interior of the extractor hood is provided with sound absorbers.
It can also be advantageous that two single-sided or double-sided suction radial fans are arranged side by side or one behind the other and that the two radial fans are housed in spiral housings, which are designed as air guiding elements for the air flow in the interior of the extractor hood. After all, it can be advantageous in that the housing interior of the extractor hood is part of the exhaust air duct.
