Definitions
- the present invention relates to a one-piece tool head for an application tool for stripping-free contacting of a wire in a connection contact, which is mounted in a housing, according to the preamble of claim 1.
- CH-PS 669 284, DE-OS 34 32 028, DE-GM 80 13 494 and DE-PS 38 03 969 each describe application tools in which an excess wire length is used in the connection contact in the stripping-free contact of the wire a scissor-like cutting device is removed.
- Such tools have a complex multi-part structure due to their complicated mechanics and are therefore relatively expensive to manufacture.
- a guide groove for the wire is provided at the front ends of both legs of the tool head, these two guide grooves being aligned and extending perpendicular to the tool axis. Therefore, when contacting, the end of the wire to be contacted can be inserted into the aligned guide grooves in a favorable manner, so that the wire end can be guided into the desired connection contact using the wiring tool. Because the wire end is fixed in the guide grooves, this can be securely inserted into the respective connection contact. In this case, it is not necessary to first lead the wire to the respective connection contact, after which the wiring tool is put on, but the wire can be guided to the connection contact together with the wiring tool. This ensures a much faster and safer mode of operation since the wire end can no longer slip out of the connector to be fitted.
- the shear surface can form an angle between 90 ° and 120 ° to the tool axis, seen in the direction of actuation. This creates an obtuse angle between the shear surface and the direction of actuation or tool axis, which ensures good shearing of the excess wire length. At the same time, this obtuse angle ensures that - in contrast to a knife edge - no wear occurs on the shear edge.
- the opening provided between the legs of the tool head can be essentially U-shaped. This ensures that the tool head can be securely guided over the connector to be fitted.
- recesses are provided on both sides of the opening, which receive a guide contour of the housing.
- these recesses can also expand conically from the front end of the tool head in the direction of its rear end. This in turn makes precise work easier, since the relatively narrow inlet of the openings allows the tool head to be positioned well.
- the conical extension ensures that the wiring tool is not tilted during the contacting process, but that there is a certain (slight) play so that the wire can be sheared off quickly.
- Particularly good guidance of the tool head in the connection contact housing is achieved if the recesses on both sides of the opening run in an arc shape at their rear end.
- two guide webs can be formed through the opening between the legs of the tool head and the recesses on both sides of the opening, which run parallel to the tool axis.
- Such guide bars in turn increase the user-friendliness, since the tool can be inserted into the respective contact unerringly.
- the front end of at least one guide web can be an additional plunger form, which mechanically clamps the wire to be contacted in the housing of the connection contact.
- the wire is pressed down into the connection contact first by the plungers, which are formed by the groove base of the two guide grooves of the legs.
- an additional plunger is created by the front end of the one guide web, which, after the excess wire length has sheared off, clamps the wire behind the connection contact in the housing at the end of the contacting process.
- extremely reliable clamp connections are achieved.
- edges of the groove walls facing the opening can be chamfered in at least one guide groove. This training in turn facilitates the insertion of the tool head into the connection contact.
- the tool head can consist of metal. This creates an extremely robust and at the same time easy to manufacture tool head, which is subject to practically no wear.
- the shear surface 18 is formed by the groove base of a guide groove 20 which is formed at the front end of the leg 12.
- the shear surface 18 forms a shear edge 24 together with an inner surface 22 of the leg 12.
- the angle between the shear surface 18 and the tool axis X or the parallel inner surface 22 of the leg 12 is approximately 105 °, viewed in the actuation direction B of the application tool.
- the edges of the guide groove 20 facing the opening 16 are provided with a chamfer 26, which facilitates the handling of the application tool.
- the upper leg 14 of the tool head 10 in FIG. 1 is also provided at its front end with a guide groove 28 which is aligned with the guide groove 20 of the lower leg 12, but - as viewed in the direction of the tool axis X - the guide groove 28 of the leg 14 is deeper than the guide groove 20 of the leg 12.
- a groove base 19 (FIG. 3) of the guide groove 28 is further away from the front end of the tool head than the groove base 18 (FIG. 2) of the guide groove 20.
- both guide grooves 20 and 28 are perpendicular to the tool axis X.
- edges of the groove walls of the guide groove 28 facing the opening 16 are also provided with a bevel 30 in order to facilitate insertion of the tool head.
- FIG. 1 shows, through the opening 16 and the recesses 32, 32 ', a guide web 34 is formed on the leg 12 and a guide web 36 on the leg 14. These guide webs 34 and 36 run parallel to the tool axis X.
- the front end 38 of the web 34 forms together with the groove base 19 an additional plunger which clamps the wire 76 in the housing 72 of the terminal block 70.
- the wire 76 is clamped and contacted in the connection contact 74 and the housing 72 of the connection strip 70 in the best possible way, at the same time the excess wire length is sheared off.
- the tool head 10 can thus be returned counter to the actuation direction B.
- the tool head 10 is fastened in a handle part, not shown, which is made of plastic. This creates a very easy-to-use application tool.

Description
The present invention relates to a one-piece tool head for an application tool for stripping-free contacting of a wire in a connection contact, which is mounted in a housing, according to the preamble of claim 1.
Such application tools for contacting stripping-free connection contacts are known from the prior art in various embodiments. For example, CH-PS 669 284, DE-OS 34 32 028, DE-GM 80 13 494 and DE-PS 38 03 969 each describe application tools in which an excess wire length is used in the connection contact in the stripping-free contact of the wire a scissor-like cutting device is removed. Such tools have a complex multi-part structure due to their complicated mechanics and are therefore relatively expensive to manufacture.
A tool head according to the preamble of claim 1 is known from DE-OS 36 23 258. In this known tool head, a knife is provided as a separating device for separating the excess wire length at a front end of a leg. At the end of the contacting process, this knife cuts off the excess wire length, with further movement of the contacted wire being prevented by the housing of the connecting contact during the cutting process.
It is the problem (object) on which the present invention is based to create a tool head for an application tool (wiring tool) which can be produced in a material-saving and inexpensive manner and which is wear-free, while at the same time ensuring fast and reliable contact.
This object is achieved by a tool head with the features of claim 1 and by a method according to claim 13.
According to the invention, a guide groove for the wire is provided at the front ends of both legs of the tool head, these two guide grooves being aligned and extending perpendicular to the tool axis.
Furthermore, according to the invention, the guide groove of the leg without a separating device, viewed in the direction of the tool axis, is deeper than the guide groove of the leg with a separating device. At the same time, the groove base of both guide grooves forms one Tappet, the groove base of the guide groove of the leg with separating device forming a shear surface with a shear edge. These features according to the invention not only ensure that the wire can be guided reliably by the wiring tool when making contact, but moreover, at the end of the contacting process, the excess length of the wire shears off behind the connection contact by means of the shear edge provided in the tool head due to the guide grooves having different depths. The shaving device is not a knife known from the prior art, which, on the one hand, is complicated to manufacture and, on the other hand, is subject to wear, but according to the invention, the excess wire length is sheared off by the shear edge of the tool head in connection with an edge of the housing of the connection contact. This special design creates a shear element that is not subject to wear, since shearing off takes place by the interaction of an edge of a groove base with an edge of the housing. In addition, there are no additional shearing or cutting separating devices in the tool head according to the invention, ie the tool head according to the invention can be produced in a particularly material-saving manner.
Advantageous embodiments of the invention are characterized by the subclaims.
The shear surface can form an angle between 90 ° and 120 ° to the tool axis, seen in the direction of actuation. This creates an obtuse angle between the shear surface and the direction of actuation or tool axis, which ensures good shearing of the excess wire length. At the same time, this obtuse angle ensures that - in contrast to a knife edge - no wear occurs on the shear edge.
According to a further embodiment of the invention, the opening provided between the legs of the tool head can be essentially U-shaped. This ensures that the tool head can be securely guided over the connector to be fitted.
According to a further embodiment of the invention, recesses are provided on both sides of the opening, which receive a guide contour of the housing. In particular, these recesses can also expand conically from the front end of the tool head in the direction of its rear end. This in turn makes precise work easier, since the relatively narrow inlet of the openings allows the tool head to be positioned well. At the same time, the conical extension ensures that the wiring tool is not tilted during the contacting process, but that there is a certain (slight) play so that the wire can be sheared off quickly. Particularly good guidance of the tool head in the connection contact housing is achieved if the recesses on both sides of the opening run in an arc shape at their rear end.
According to a further embodiment of the invention, two guide webs can be formed through the opening between the legs of the tool head and the recesses on both sides of the opening, which run parallel to the tool axis. Such guide bars in turn increase the user-friendliness, since the tool can be inserted into the respective contact unerringly.
According to a preferred embodiment, the front end of at least one guide web can be an additional plunger form, which mechanically clamps the wire to be contacted in the housing of the connection contact. In this case, the wire is pressed down into the connection contact first by the plungers, which are formed by the groove base of the two guide grooves of the legs. However, an additional plunger is created by the front end of the one guide web, which, after the excess wire length has sheared off, clamps the wire behind the connection contact in the housing at the end of the contacting process. As a result, extremely reliable clamp connections are achieved.
According to a further embodiment, the edges of the groove walls facing the opening can be chamfered in at least one guide groove. This training in turn facilitates the insertion of the tool head into the connection contact.
According to a further embodiment, the tool head can consist of metal. This creates an extremely robust and at the same time easy to manufacture tool head, which is subject to practically no wear.
If the tool head according to the invention is attached to a handle part, this creates an application tool with the advantages described above. The handle part of this application tool can be made of plastic.

The process of contacting and shearing off when using the tool head according to the invention is described below.
At the beginning of the contacting process, the

After the
Due to the inventive design of the tool head, only a small amount of force is required when contacting and shearing.
In addition, the
