Description

The invention relates to a vacuum cleaner according to the preamble of the first claim.

In a known vacuum cleaner of this type (DE 38 15 321 A1) there is a motor blower downstream of a dust collector chamber in a chamber which has a throughflow opening for outflowing air freed from usual dust particles. On its side facing away from the engine blower chamber, the throughflow opening has a circumferential sealing surface, against which the edge of a disk filter is tightly applied. This is ensured by support webs on a cover which is pivotally mounted on the contour of the vacuum cleaner device housing and in which the blown air, which is then freed of even the finest particles, is conducted into an elongated outflow channel provided on the bottom of the device housing. The outer peripheral edge of the filter element is thus clamped between the support webs of the cover and the sealing surface of the flow opening. The flat multi-layer filter disc used for this has an unsatisfactory filter result. There is also the risk that when inserting not all edge parts come into tight contact with the associated sealing surface, so that parts of the air conveyed by the motor fan can pass this filter element.

The invention has for its object to take measures in a vacuum cleaner according to the preamble of the first claim, by means of which a secure connection of the sealing element to the throughflow opening is achieved and which permit the use of a highly effective filter element.

This object is achieved according to the invention by the characterizing features of the first claim.

In one embodiment of a vacuum cleaner according to the invention, the filter element is enclosed by a dimensionally stable frame which can be brought securely into the conveyed sealing position with respect to the throughflow opening by mechanical centering on a cover. The inherently unstable filter element is firmly connected to this frame, so that overall a reliable covering of the through-flow opening, through which the pre-cleaned air conveyed by the motor fan flows, is ensured. The filter element can consist, in particular, of a filter disc which is closely shaped like an accordion, that is to say folded in a zigzag, so that a filter surface which is substantially larger in relation to the surface enclosed by the frame is available. The folded edges are alternately in or against the direction of flow of the conveyed air, so that they have the necessary rigidity against the pressure generated by the air flow. Due to the tight grip of the frame around this pleated filter element, a tight seal is achieved, in particular on the open end edges of the individual folds, which can still be secured in that the open end edges are glued tightly to the respectively adjacent wall sections of the frame by means of a curing adhesive. The adhesive can be applied before inserting the filter element into the frame. For secure mounting and sealing, it is also advisable for the attachment of the sealing element in the frame to provide a groove that is open both parallel to the direction of flow of the air flowing through the filter element and in the area of the adjacent folded edges. In the viscous state, a viscoelastic hardening adhesive is poured into the groove formed in this way, which improves the seal and in particular forms a mechanically stable hold between the filter element and the frame. This sealing element is in particular attached to the side from which the air flows. On the opposite side of the frame, on the other hand, radially inwardly directed edge strips are expedient, which engage under the folded edges pointing in the direction of flow and thus serve to mechanically support the filter element against the air flow pressure. The frame also preferably has a radially circumferential annular flange which is provided on the side next to the sealing element and can carry a sealing ring, so that the filter as a whole is to be applied tightly to the throughflow opening. For this purpose, it is expedient to center the frame on its side facing away from the throughflow opening on supporting webs which are provided on a cover which is pivotably hinged to the device housing. The arrangement is such that, when the cover is closed, the filter is in tight contact with the flow opening. Between the supporting webs, the very fine airborne particles, which pass through the filter, can then flow into a blow-out duct, which is provided on the bottom of the device housing and is designed to dampen noise.

The invention is explained in more detail below on the basis of the schematic diagrams of a partially illustrated vacuum cleaner.

In a device housing 1 of a vacuum cleaner, which is only partially indicated, there is a large-volume filter bag 2 designed for filtering the dust-laden sucked-in air in a dust collector room 3, to which a blower chamber 4 for receiving a motor blower 5 is connected. The largely cleaned air conveyed by the motor fan 5 relaxes in the blower chamber 4 and flows out of it downwards in the direction of a bottom wall 6 of the device housing through a throughflow opening 7. The flow opening 7 are arranged in the blower chamber 4 air guide ribs 8, which are inclined so that access to the engine blower 5 is prevented according to the regulations. The throughflow opening 7 is followed by an air-permeable filter, which surrounds a filter disc folded in an accordion-shaped or zigzag-shaped manner as a filter element in a frame 9 all around and closely fitting. The frame 9 has an axial length in the direction of flow, which is adapted to the height of the individual folds of the filter element. As a result, the end edges 11 of the individual folds come into tight contact on opposite wall sections 12 of the frame 9 by appropriate length dimensioning of the filter element 10. The folded edges 13 of the filter element point alternately in or against the direction of flow of the conveyed air and, in the case of a rectangular design of the frame, extend parallel to the short wall sections of the frame 9. For mechanical mounting and additional sealing, the frame points in the region of the against the direction of flow directional folded edges 13.1 has a groove 14 which is open to the throughflow opening 7 and to the adjacent sections of the end edges 11 in the region of the folded edges 13.1. In the groove 14 formed in this way, an adhesive is poured into the viscous state as an additional sealing element 15, which hardens in a viscoplastic manner and brings about the firm connection between the frame 9 and the filter element 10. The groove 14 with the adhesive 15 arranged therein points against the direction of air flow. The adhesive 15 closes the free passage of air from the groove 14 into the folds which are open at the bottom. In order to also reliably and tightly connect the remaining sections of the front edges 11 to the respectively adjacent wall 12 of the frame 9, they are fixed to the walls 12 by means of adhesive. For this purpose, the front edges 11 and / or the wall sections 12 can be provided with the adhesive before the filter element 10 is inserted, which is also applied in a viscous state and then hardens in a viscoplastic manner. For additional support of the filter 9, 10, the frame 9 has, on its side facing away from the throughflow opening 7, radially inwardly directed edge strips 16 which engage behind the folded edges 13.2 pointing in the direction of flow. The filter 10 is thereby additionally supported against the flow pressure. The edge strips 16 determine the insertion depth of the filter element 10 at the same time. The length of the end edges 11 is dimensioned such that the completely inserted filter element 10 does not protrude beyond the groove 14. The groove 14 with the adhesive 15 extends all around the filter element 10, so that the two opposite end fold sections 13.3 are tightly connected to the frame 9 via their length running parallel to the fold edges 13.

The filter 9, 10 is arranged with a radial circumferential arrangement on the frame 9, laterally next to the sealing element 15 Provided ring flange 17 which carries a sealing ring 18 in an appropriately adapted groove as the outer peripheral edge. This sealing ring 18 is in tight contact with the sealing surface 19 surrounding the throughflow opening 7. A counter bearing is a cover 21 which is molded into the outer contour of the housing and forms a transition between the base 6 and a rear wall 20 of the device housing and which is pivotable at the transition to the base 6 on the device housing is held and which is releasably locked in the illustrated working position at the transition to the rear wall 20 by means of a locking button 23. On the cover 21 there are support webs 23 which reach under the ring flange 17, center and press it against the sealing surface 19 in such a way that the required seal between the throughflow opening 7 and the filter 9, 10 is ensured. The frame 9 ends at a distance from the cover 21 and, in conjunction with the support webs 23, forms at least one flow channel which forms an elongated blow-out channel 24 in the region of the base 6 for the air conveyed by the motor fan 5 and thus contributes to noise insulation.

This results in the possibility of using a filter element suitable for filtering out the finest particles of suspended matter with a very large surface area and thus low flow resistance with a simple structure and easy handling, the frame and the positioning of the same on the support webs achieving a secure, tight enclosure of the throughflow opening 7 becomes. An offset of the outer circumferential edge 17, 18 with respect to the throughflow opening is thereby reliably avoided, and also by gluing the filter element 10 to the frame 9 other air bypass flow paths.
