Description
The invention relates to an electrical connector with a short-circuit element, Consisting of a plug with two contact elements and which run parallel to each other from a mating connector, in which a two-wire to the contact elements of the connector electrical line is connected, in which the contact elements in an open position are free of the mating connector, in which there is an open recess in the connector for Recording of the existing of resilient metal, two approximately V-shaped to each other Arms shorting element is attached, the opening between the Contact elements is located and in which the short-circuit element in its the open position of the Connector corresponding rest position on both contact elements, in its the Close position of the connector corresponding working position, the contact elements touches and in the direction of the axis of the contact elements between its own Shape and spring force predetermined rest position and its working position movable in Plug is arranged (US-A-4 894 019).
Such a device is used, for example, to trigger the explosive charge for the So-called "airbag" used by motor vehicles, which if necessary to sudden Inflation of the impact bag housed in the steering wheel of a motor vehicle leads. For Repairs and maintenance may require the connection between To disconnect explosive charge and power source. To do this, the mating connector is removed from the connector deducted, which is attached to the line of the explosive charge. Through the then open There is a risk that the explosive charge can be accidentally and accidentally caused by external charges is triggered uncontrollably. That cannot happen.
From GB-A-2 245 775 a device emerges in which the short-circuit element with one end is fixed in the material of the plug. Its other end is free and therefore springy bendable. In the closed position of the device, in the connector and mating connector are assembled, the short-circuit element is attached by a to the mating connector Pen bent so far out of its rest position that it does not touch the contact elements.
In the case of the connector described at the beginning of US Pat. No. 4,894,019, this is Short-circuit element designed as a coil spring, the two ends of which as arms sideways stand out. The coil spring is arranged on a pin of a carrier which is in a sufficiently large recess of the plug of the connector is movably arranged. On a protrusion is attached to the end face of the mating connector which, when plugged together Plug connector on one end face of the carrier, which projects far beyond the coil spring is present.
The invention has for its object the connector described above easier to design.
- that the short-circuit element designed as a bracket projects in its rest position into the space provided for the mating connector in the closed position of the connector by a shorter distance in relation to the length of the contact elements formed as connector pins protruding from the connector,
- that the short-circuit element is arranged in its working position, bearing against the end face of the mating connector plugged into the connector, and
- that the recess of the plug is flared outwards in the region of its opening by bevels serving as contact surfaces for the short-circuit element.
In this connector, the circuit is one connected to the line of the connector Explosive charge automatically short-circuited if no mating connector is plugged into the connector is. The explosive charge can then no longer be triggered by external charges. Reached is the short-circuit element arranged in the plug, which by its shape and its spring force then short-circuits the two contact elements when the mating connector is not at all or at least not completely plugged into the connector. The short circuit element is only moved from its rest position by the mating connector when its contacts already are in contact with the contact elements. In the working position, the short-circuit element is like this pushed far back into the connector so that it no longer touches the contact elements. If the Mating connector is withdrawn from the connector, the short-circuit element follows because of it Shape and spring force of the movement of the mating connector. It then closes in its Rest position the two contact elements just before the mating connector is completely off deducted the same. In this way it is ensured that the circuit of the Explosive charge is never open. It is either short-circuited or by the Mating connector occupied. The short-circuit element also places between the rest position and Working position only a short way back, so that its effectiveness is quick is guaranteed.
