Description

The present invention relates to a bundle of detachable sheets which can be used for packaging foodstuffs or other products.

Document FR-A-2 247 071 describes a bundle of packaging sheets in which the different sheets, previously cut to the desired format, are joined together by gluing, stapling, or riveting, and include a separation or perforation line allowing the detachment of the sheets by simple manual traction on a gripping means. Gripping means envisaged in this French patent consist either of a fold made in one of the lower corners of the sheets or a fold made along the lower edge of the sheets.

Document FR-A-2 269 425, which is an addition to FR-A-2 247 071 also describes a bundle of packaging sheets similar to that of the main patent, the sheets of which may include, as gripping means, holes provided in each of the sheets to allow the insertion of a finger of the user and thus facilitate the grasping of the sheet, ie an embossing along the lower edge of the sheets.

In practice, only the gripping means constituted by folds formed in the lower corners of the sheet or along the lower edge of the sheet have proved effective for better grasping of the sheets of the bundle.

However, these bundles of leaves have a certain number of drawbacks.

In particular, the presence of a fold at the bottom of each of the sheets of the bundle has the disadvantage of doubling the thickness of the bottom of the bundle at the folds, because each fold consists of a double thickness of leaf. The presence of these folds and this difference in thickness of the bundle makes it difficult to receive the sheets at the end of the machine which performs the folds because it is not possible to automatically store the leaves which, due to the presence of double thickness at one end, do not form a regular parallelepiped. In addition, the presence of this extra thickness at one end of the sheets and of the bundle does not allow automatic counting, with separation of packets from a given number of sheets in order to individualize identical bundles. For this reason, the bundles were until now sold by weight, from an approximate thickness, which prohibited the marketing of a perfectly standardized product.

Finally, the presence of this extra thickness, did not allow a rational arrangement of the bundles in a corrugated cardboard box which led to an insufficient filling of the packaging with risks of damage to the bundles which overlapped irregularly.

On the other hand, this extra thickness led to a necessary limitation of the thickness of the bundles to prevent the excess thickness at the base of each of the bundles from resulting in a degraded winding of the sheets making their gripping difficult. Indeed, as it is not possible to grasp the sheets by the fold from bottom to top, when the extra thickness is significant, the gradual rolling of the sheets means that the sheets have to be picked up inside the hollow resulting from the superposition folds. Thus when the bundle includes a large number of sheets, the advantage of easy gripping of the sheets is lost.

The object of the present invention is therefore to provide a bundle of sheets overcoming the above drawbacks.

More particularly, the object of the invention is to provide a bundle of sheets, the sheets of which can be easily grasped and detached by a user, one by one, without contact with the other sheets of the bundle, which guarantees good hygiene.

Another object of the invention is to provide a bundle of sheets which does not have any extra thickness, resulting in a gradual winding of the sheets.

Another object of the invention is to provide a bundle of sheets having a determined number of sheets, this number being determined by automatic counting of each of the sheets during the manufacture of the bundle.

Finally, the present invention aims to provide bundles of sheets having a practically constant thickness maintained over the entire length of the bundle, thus allowing more regular packaging of the bundles during their packaging for dispatch.

According to the present invention, a bundle of sheets is produced in which the different sheets, previously cut to the desired format, are joined together along a first transverse edge and are each provided, in a second transverse edge opposite the first transverse edge, gripping means consisting of a fold characterized in that the thickness of each sheet is reduced, in an area adjacent to the second transverse edge of width at least equal to the width of the fold, by a value between 20 and 40% compared to the initial thickness of the sheet.

In a first embodiment, the zone of reduced thickness has a width equal to that of the fold.

In a second embodiment, the zone of reduced thickness has a width twice that of the fold.

The fact of making an area of reduced thickness of double width compared to the width of the fold itself makes it possible to obtain an even greater reduction in the thickness of the bundle at the level of the fold, in particular to obtain a thickness practically identical at both ends of the bundle.

According to another recommended embodiment of the invention, each sheet of the bundle may also include an embossing formed along the first transverse edge, this embossing preferably being such that the thickness of each sheet at the level of the embossing is approximately equal to the total thickness of each sheet at the fold area formed along the second transverse edge.

The sheets which can be used in the bundles of the present invention are all sheets such as sheets of paper, translucent or opaque, and in particular sheets of paper intended for packaging, for example of food products. The sheets can also be coated on one side, for example with products suitable for contact with food products, such as only paraffin. Preferably, the sheets used for the bundles of the present invention have a grammage between 20 and 50 g / m 2 , and the grammage chosen being a function of the intended use.

The sheets of the bundles of the present invention are joined together along the first transverse edge by gluing, stapling or riveting, and preferably comprise near this first transverse edge and parallel to this a line of separation or perforation allowing easy detachment of the sheets by simple manual pulling on the gripping means.

The bundle may also include, in the vicinity of the first transverse edge, one or more openings such as holes, allowing its adaptation to a hook, peg or suction cup, for attachment to a wall close to the user.

As indicated, each sheet of the bundle of sheets according to the invention comprises a gripping means constituted by a fold formed along the second transverse edge of the sheet, opposite to the first transverse edge. Preferably this fold extends over the entire length of the second transverse edge parallel to this edge, but could also consist of a fold formed in one of the corners of the second transverse edge. The fold has a sufficient width to allow easy gripping of the sheets and which avoids excessive consumption of paper. Preferably the fold will have a width of between 15 and 30 mm, a width of 25 mm being recommended.

In the known prior art, the production of such a fold at the second transverse edge of each of the sheets has the result that the total thickness of the sheet at the fold is twice the thickness of the rest of the sheet and therefore the bundle has one end whose thickness is double the other end. As indicated above, this extra thickness at one end of the bundle of sheets has several drawbacks. In particular, during the formation of the bundle, the excess thickness of the sheets at one end makes it difficult to receive the sheets at the end of the machine because it is not possible to automatically store such sheets which do not form a regular parallelepiped. Furthermore, it is also not possible to perform an automatic counting of these sheets and a separation of packets of sheets from a given number of sheets which would make it possible to individualize identical bundles. In fact, the bundles were sold by weight from an approximate thickness.

In addition, this extra thickness (double thickness) of one end of the bundles of sheets led, when the bundles included a large number of sheets, to a degraded winding phenomenon of the sheets which made gripping difficult.

According to the invention, the thickness of each of the sheets of the bundle is reduced, in an area adjacent to the second transverse edge of width at least equal to the width of the fold, by a value of between 20 and 40% relative to the initial thickness of the sheet, preferably 30%. The width of the reduced thickness zone is as indicated at least equal to the intended width of the fold, that is to say the width of the part of the sheet intended to be folded up to form the fold or flap. Obviously the initial thickness of the sheet is that of the sheet before any reduction in thickness.

As mentioned previously, in another embodiment of the invention the width of the zone of reduced thickness is twice that of the fold or flap, in other words the zone of reduced thickness comprises the fold or flap and the surface of the sheet immediately below this fold or flap.

A reduction of more than 40% in the thickness of the sheet would be difficult to achieve and would risk weakening the fold to such an extent that the sheet would tear at this fold during use. Reducing the thickness of the sheet by less than 20% does not reliably provide the advantages of the present invention.

According to the invention, the zone of reduced thickness of the sheets can be produced by laminating, between two knurls, a continuous strip of paper in a zone adjacent to a transverse edge of the strip. The knobs can be heated to increase the calendering and therefore reduce the thickness of the paper at the fold. Depending on the pressure and temperature chosen, the thickness reduction can be adjusted. The fold is then formed in a conventional manner and the strip is cut into sheets which are received, at the end of the machine, under form of regular parallelepiped bundles.

In an embodiment recommended to further improve the regularity of the bundle and to prevent, when the sheets of the bundle are compressed, that they risk adhering to each other, in particular if they are waxed and exposed to heat, provision is made to proximity of the first transverse edge, that is to say the transverse edge opposite the edge provided with the gripping fold, an embossing having a width of between 1 and 5 cm and preferably 2 and 3 cm. Preferably, the embossing is such that the thickness of the sheet, at the level of this embossing, is equal to the thickness, approximately, at the level of the fold formed in the second transverse edge of the sheet.

Under these conditions, a bundle is obtained having a thickness practically identical at the two ends.

Thus, during shaping, the cut sheets are superimposed on each other without pressure. Air remains between them thus avoiding too pronounced adhesion between the sheets. An almost constant thickness is also maintained over the entire length of the bundle. With this recommended realization of the bundle of sheets, the reception of the sheets is much more regular and makes it possible to use on the machine for manufacturing the bundle a counting system making it possible to individualize the bundle with a programmed number of sheets. The counted parallelepipedic bundles can then be placed on a carpet to be brought to an automatic stapling station.

This produces a faster and more economical automatic bundle of sheets making it possible to obtain more regular bundles. Finally, obtaining such more regular bundles allows easier storage in the crates and it is also possible to position in a crate of given size a greater number of bundles, the crates then containing the same quantity of bundles which does not 'was previously not possible due to the irregularity of the bundles.

  • figure 1 une vue de face d'une réalisation d'une liasse selon l'invention;
  • figure 2 une vue analogue à la figure 1, mais avec le pli de préhension entièrement ouvert;
The following description refers to the appended figures which represent, respectively:
  • Figure 1 a front view of an embodiment of a bundle according the invention;
  • Figure 2 a view similar to Figure 1, but with the gripping fold fully open;
  • Figure 3 a perspective view of the bundle of Figure 1, the spacing between the sheets of the bundle having been exaggerated to show their positioning; and
  • Figure 4 a front view of another recommended embodiment of the bundle of sheets according to the invention.

In the figures where the same reference numbers represent the same elements, and in particular in Figures 1 to 3 there is shown a bundle of sheets 1 according to the present invention. In this recommended embodiment of the invention the bundle of sheets is held in a rigid support 7, for example of cardboard, for the transport or the distribution of the sheets of the bundle. The support comprises a rigid bottom element of dimension greater than the sheets, a portion of which, projecting beyond a first transverse edge 3 of the sheets, is provided with openings 9, for example holes to allow attachment to a wall. . The support further comprises a flap which encloses the bundle of sheets over it and which is fixed so as to hold all of the sheets along the first transverse edge by means, for example, of staples 8. Each of the sheets of the bundle comprises parallel to the first transverse edge and slightly below the staples 8 a transverse line of perforation allowing easy separation of the sheets. A fold or flap 5a is formed, along a fold line 4a, along each of the second transverse edges 4 of the sheets 2, opposite the first transverse edge 3 of the sheets. In the embodiment shown, the thickness of each sheet has been reduced in an area 5 adjacent to the second transverse edge of the sheet by a value of 30% relative to the initial thickness of the sheet. As shown in FIG. 2, this zone of reduced thickness 5a in the embodiment shown has a width equal to the width of the fold or flap 5a.

This bundle is generally similar to the bundle shown in Figures 1 to 3 but further comprises an embossing produced in the upper part of each of the sheets 2 of the bundle parallel to the first transverse edge 3 of each of the sheets, near the latter, and preferably slightly below the perforation line 6. From preferably, the embossing of each sheet 2 is such that the thickness of each sheet, at the level of the embossing 10, is equal to approximately the total thickness of each sheet at the level of the fold 5a, that is to say the sum of the thicknesses of fold 5a and of the surface of the sheet directly below this fold.

In the embodiment shown as the thickness of the fold 5a is reduced by 30% compared to the initial thickness of the sheet, the embossing 10 will therefore preferably result in an increased thickness of the sheet in the embossing area. about 70% compared to the initial thickness of the sheet. Thus, it can be considered that the bundle of sheets has practically equal thicknesses at its two opposite transverse ends leading to bundles of more regular parallelepipedic sheets, the number of sheets of which can be predetermined. Generally, this embossing has a width of between 2 and 3 cm.

A bundle of sheets is thus obtained which has a practically regular thickness and comprising a predetermined number of sheets.
