Definitions
- the invention relates to a sports boat borrowing its essential characteristics from a priori very distant design vehicles, such as in particular windsurfing and Prao.
- Windsurfing is therefore controlled by displacement of the center of the sail, operated by the windsurfer himself, whose whole body participates in the stabilization of the sail. In strong winds and / or due to fatigue (especially in the arms), he has difficulty effectively steering his machine.
- the Prao is a sailboat designed and originally used by the inhabitants of Sunda Island, comprising a single pendulum fitted at its end with a float.
- the behavior of such a boat is very different depending on the wind direction, due to its asymmetry.
- the pendulum is in the wind and behaves essentially as a counterweight.
- the invention proposes a sports boat combining certain characteristics of these two boats, in a new arrangement allowing their cooperation and offering, in the end, a completely original sport steering mode.
- a boat of this kind is known from FR-A-2 619 782.
- the invention relates to a boat according to the text of claim 1.
- the main float has the same general appearance as that of a windsurf board; it may include a drift.
- the cross-member forming a pendulum is preferably articulated to the main float by a journal system pivoting about its axis and arranged perpendicular to the main float.
- the articulation between the cross member and the auxiliary float is similar; the two pivot axes at the two ends of the crosspiece forming a pendulum are therefore parallel.
- the boat comprises a nacelle forming a seat or the like, integral with the mast-transom assembly.
- the frame comprises upper maneuvering hoops, maneuverable by the arms, and lower maneuvering hoops, maneuverable by the legs.
- the drawings show a sports boat conforming to principle of the invention and essentially consisting of a main float 11, similar to that of a windsurfing board and provided here with a fin 12 and a rear spoiler 13, an auxiliary float 14, a beam forming a beam 16 connecting the two floats and a mast 18 carrying a sail 19.
- the beam forming a beam 16 is articulated to said floats at each of its ends, respectively. These articulations are here materialized by trunnion systems 20, 21, respectively, of vertical parallel axes 20a, 21a, symbolized by broken lines in FIG. 1.
- a means 24 for locking the articulation between said crosspiece 16 and the main float 11 is provided. It is here arranged in the vicinity of the trunnion system 21.
- this locking means 24 is controlled by a mechanism that can be actuated manually.
- the auxiliary float is provided with an automatic orientation means, such as a spatula tail 25 or the like. With this simple arrangement, the auxiliary float is always oriented in the direction of movement, parallel to the main float.
- the mast 18 is here integral with the cross member forming a pendulum 16.
- the sail 19 is mounted in a rigid frame 28, for example in metal tube, articulated at its upper part to the mast 18, more particularly at the end of a yard 30 , itself attached to this mast.
- the same frame 28 is articulated at its lower part to an arm 32 slightly inclined. This arm 32 is itself articulated by a pin 33 with a vertical axis to the cross member forming a balance 16.
- the arm 32 could be articulated to the mast 18. This arm cooperates with lateral stops 34, integral with the cross member, to delimit a travel range of the lower part of said armature.
- the articulations of the frame to the yard 30 and to the arm 32 are advantageously produced by devices known under the name of "diabolos". Such a device consists of two aligned axes rotatably mounted with respect to each other and a hose made of elastomeric material allowing an offset.
- a "diabolo" 36 is provided between the yard and the frame and a “diabolo" 38 between the frame and the arm 32.
- the boat further comprises a nacelle forming a seat 40 or the like, integral with the mast-transom assembly.
- said nacelle 40 consists of a tube hoop fixed to the mast and supporting a seat 41, for example of heavy canvas.
- the nacelle could be connected to a part other than the mast, it could be secured to a support fixed to the crosspiece.
- the rigid frame 28 is provided on either side of the sail 19 with transverse operating hoops (which are commonly called "wishbones" in the field of windsurfing).
- the frame 28 comprises upper maneuvering hoops 43, maneuverable by the arms, and lower maneuvering hoops, 44, 45, maneuverable by the legs.
- Elements 46 can join arches located at different levels, to facilitate the maintenance of the feet of the user.
- the controlled locking means 24 here consists of a brake, the jaw 48 of which is secured to the cross member 16, moves opposite an annular flange 49 secured to the main float 11.
- the movable elements of the jaw are actuated via a cable 50, by a lever 51 located in the vicinity of the nacelle. In the example, this lever is fixed to the hoop of the nacelle.
- the brake could also be of the drum type; it could be replaced by a cleat and notched pinion system.
- the brake is normally applied by the user, acting on the lever 51.
- the latter is provided with a locking mechanism avoiding having to constantly apply it.
- the orientation of the main float relative to the cross member is therefore fixed and determined by the user.
- the auxiliary float automatically turns in the direction of movement, thanks to the spatula tail 25.
- the user When he wants to tack, the user releases the brake, the main float automatically rotates to the downwind position and simultaneously the user acts on the sail to rotate the balance and change tack.
- the auxiliary float rotates automatically to return to position in the new direction of travel.
- the user applies the brake again to block the articulation of the cross member with respect to the main float.

Description
The invention relates to a sports boat borrowing its essential characteristics from a priori very distant design vehicles, such as in particular windsurfing and Prao.
We know the principle of windsurfing, bringing together a profiled float, on which the user can stand up and a wing whose mast is articulated to this float and includes a maneuvering hoop making it possible to maintain the sail in a chosen position compared to the wind. Windsurfing is therefore controlled by displacement of the center of the sail, operated by the windsurfer himself, whose whole body participates in the stabilization of the sail. In strong winds and / or due to fatigue (especially in the arms), he has difficulty effectively steering his machine.
In addition, the Prao is a sailboat designed and originally used by the inhabitants of Sunda Island, comprising a single pendulum fitted at its end with a float. The behavior of such a boat is very different depending on the wind direction, due to its asymmetry. Thus, during a change of edge, if the balance and its float were in the wind relative to the boat, these are found downwind and vice versa, causing a total modification of the behavior of the boat. The most advantageous situation is that where the pendulum is in the wind and behaves essentially as a counterweight.
The invention proposes a sports boat combining certain characteristics of these two boats, in a new arrangement allowing their cooperation and offering, in the end, a completely original sport steering mode.
Une embarcation de ce genre est connu de FR-A-2 619 782. L'invention concerne une embarcation selon le texte de la revendication 1.A boat of this kind is known from FR-A-2 619 782. The invention relates to a boat according to the text of claim 1.
The main float has the same general appearance as that of a windsurf board; it may include a drift. The cross-member forming a pendulum is preferably articulated to the main float by a journal system pivoting about its axis and arranged perpendicular to the main float. The articulation between the cross member and the auxiliary float is similar; the two pivot axes at the two ends of the crosspiece forming a pendulum are therefore parallel. Consequently, supposing that the cross member and the auxiliary float are in the wind, during a tack which involves temporarily releasing the articulation between the main float and the cross member forming a pendulum, the latter and the auxiliary float remain in the wind after tack, because the two floats pivot hard themselves.
According to another preferred characteristic, the boat comprises a nacelle forming a seat or the like, integral with the mast-transom assembly. In this way, the user can use his legs to steer the sail. To do this, the frame comprises upper maneuvering hoops, maneuverable by the arms, and lower maneuvering hoops, maneuverable by the legs.
The simultaneous use of the arms and legs, exercising on the different arches or "wishbones" allows to increase the force exerted on the wing, while reducing fatigue in the arms. The entire human body is involved in an entirely new way in piloting this boat, while retaining the sporting character that is expected from this type of gear.
- la figure 1 est une vue schématique générale de l'embarcation selon l'invention;
- la figure 2 est une vue schématique de détail, à plus grande échelle, de l'articulation blocable entre la traverse formant balancier et le flotteur principal;
- la figure 3 est une vue de détail du bras d'articulation inférieur de l'armature de voile;
- Figure 1 is a general schematic view of the boat according to the invention;
- Figure 2 is a schematic detail view, on a larger scale, of the lockable joint between the cross member forming a pendulum and the main float;
- Figure 3 is a detail view of the lower articulation arm of the sail frame;
- Figure 4 is a detail view from above, showing the nacelle forming a seat in which the user takes place; and
- Figure 5 is a top view of the sail frame.
The drawings show a sports boat conforming to principle of the invention and essentially consisting of a
The boat further comprises a nacelle forming a
The controlled locking means 24 here consists of a brake, the
Le flotteur auxiliaire s'oriente automatiquement dans le sens du déplacement, grâce à la queue spatulée 25.In operation, the brake is normally applied by the user, acting on the
When he wants to tack, the user releases the brake, the main float automatically rotates to the downwind position and simultaneously the user acts on the sail to rotate the balance and change tack. The auxiliary float rotates automatically to return to position in the new direction of travel. At the end of the maneuver, the user applies the brake again to block the articulation of the cross member with respect to the main float.
