Abstract

It is intended to create a simple means of strain relief for the cables (8) which make contact with connecting terminals (22) in a housing with connecting terminals. This is achieved by a special refinement of a chamber (1) for accommodating the connecting terminals (22). The chamber (1) is essentially formed by a lower part (3) having sprung tongues (2) on the cable entry side and by a chamber cover (11) whose ribs compress the tongues (2). In consequence, a retaining force is exerted on the cables (8). <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a terminal connection housing having a chamber, which is essentially formed by a lower part and a chamber cover, and arranged in the chamber, an opening for the passage of lines forming pressure elements.

A generic terminal connection housing can be found in the publication WO 91/10269. Here, the clamping of a cable with multiple lines in a circular opening is disclosed. The cable is gripped by a clamp with movable pressure elements. A U-shaped terminal block with ribs is inserted into the housing, whereby the ribs slide over the pressure elements, which then clamp the cable. At the same time, the ribs with locking recesses snap into the opening. Due to this rigid inner stop of the ribs on the housing, the size of the insertable cable is fixed. Lines or bundles of lines with different diameters cannot be clamped because the ribs rigidly limit the opening for the passage due to the stop. This known cable connection is only suitable for connecting a single cable of a certain diameter, to which the opening, the clamp with the pressure elements and the clamping bracket must be adapted.

The European patent application EP-A-0.517.937 describes installation housings for devices in building system technology with strain relief means for cables to be introduced in order to relieve them against tension at terminals, as are common in general installation technology. In order to save space and to make do with inexpensive, thin housing walls, conventional strain relief devices could not be used here. The installation housing according to the European patent application manure has the following characteristics. It is closed by a lid. A molded part is inserted between the side walls and forms a clamping lip for clamping a line to the counter-clamping area. The molded part has a clamping plane in which opposing gripping tabs of the walls are clamped by the arms of the molded part engaging behind them. The molded part is secured against tilting by means of guides on the molded part and on the walls of the installation housing. On one side of the molded part that is accessible from the outside, gripping edges are, for example, staircase-shaped. Through a recess or a support rib, the molded part can be gripped behind with a tool in the manner of a screwdriver and lifted out or levered out under support on housing edges.

The present invention has for its object to provide a terminal connection housing, in which the lines to be connected are provided in a simple manner and without additional aids for strain relief and at the same time the falling out of individual or several lines from the terminals is prevented.

To achieve this object, the lower part has at least three pressure elements which are arranged next to one another and are designed as resilient tongues and which form a plurality of openings lying next to one another and designed as gaps for the passage of lines next to and above one another. Here, ribs on the chamber cover which are not used as fastening elements are engaged with the lower part in such a way that the ribs resilient in both directions transversely to the gaps exert a force narrowing the gap on some of the tongues.

If the tongues are divided, the individual tongue parts can be used to individually hold single or multiple lines. The force exerted on the lines by the tongue parts depends, for example, on the respective line diameter, with thicker lines only widen the tongue parts acting on them, so that the gap between adjacent tongue parts is not also widened for thinner lines, which would reduce the holding force for these. An increased effect of the tongue parts is achieved if the ribs adapt to the divided Tongues are divided. This results in independent clamping areas.

An advantageous embodiment exists if a clamping block with multiple clamps is provided in the chamber, which is fastened via a dovetail connection. In order to be able to put the chamber lid on as easily as possible, it is expedient if it is provided with a guide rib. The fastening of the chamber cover can be achieved in a simple manner in that the chamber cover has a side wall with a snap nose.

Is the terminal housing e.g. a connector housing, as is often used to connect devices of building system technology, it is advantageous if there are several chambers of the same type. In this case, simplified handling is achieved in that several chambers are covered with a multiple cover.

An embodiment of the invention is explained in detail below with reference to a drawing.

The section through the connector housing 20 is shown for simplification only for the left part with a chamber 1. However, the other three chambers 1 are the same built up, so that a detailed representation for them was omitted. The lower part 3 belonging to the formation of the chamber 1 is provided with resilient tongues 2 on the line insertion side. Clamping blocks with multiple clamps 22 can be inserted into the chambers 1 (see FIG. 2, 3), which are fastened to the lower part 3 via a dovetail connection 4, 5. The multiple terminals 22 can be plugged onto contact pins 6 in the chamber 1, which are contacted on a circuit board 7 on the bottom of the connector housing 20.

As FIG 1 shows, the resilient tongues 2 each consist of two tongue parts. The top view according to FIG. 2 shows that the spring tongues 2 form two gaps 21 for the passage of the lines 8 to the multiple terminals 22 in the chamber 1. For the dovetail connection of the multiple clamps 22 to the lower part 3, this has a corresponding recess and a projection 5.

FIG 3 zeigt einen Klemmblock mit Mehrfachklemmen 22. Each terminal half of the terminal block can accommodate four lines 8 one above the other. The two clamping halves are connected to each other in pairs by a dovetail. The resilient tongues 2 according to FIGS. 1 and 2 prevent the lines 8 from falling out of the multiple terminals 22. The pressure of the resilient tongues 2 against the lines 8 located in the columns 21 is increased by fitting a chamber cover 11 according to FIG. For this purpose, the chamber cover 11 has ribs 10 which are in engagement with the tongues 2 and press the outer edges of the tongues 2 in the direction of a narrowing of the gap. The chamber cover 11 also has a guide rib 16 which slides into an adapted recess when the chamber cover 11 is placed on the lower part 3 and in this way for the correct engagement of the ribs 10 in the tongues 2 cares. 5 shows the chamber cover 11 in a different perspective, in which both the guide rib 16 and the ribs 10 are visible. As shown here, the ribs 10 and the tongues 2 can be subdivided, as a result of which holding forces on the lines 8 of different strengths can be achieved for the different areas. On the side walls 18 of the chamber cover 11 there are snap lugs 19 which snap into corresponding recesses in the lower part 3 and thus hold the chamber cover 11.

The chamber covers for the four chambers of the connector housing 20 according to FIG. 1 are constructed in the same way as described above. A simplification of the multiple coverage of several chambers 1 is possible by using a correspondingly constructed multiple cover in which the above-described features (10, 16, 18) of the chamber cover 11 are combined for several chambers 1.
