Definitions
- the present invention relates to a device according to the preamble of claim 1.
- the devices of the type mentioned have in common that the force required for compressing empty cans is large, so that it can only be applied manually with difficulty.
- a reduction gear as a remedy has the disadvantage that the compression process is delayed in time, that is, it takes longer and is therefore no less tedious.
- a device of this type has become known in the prior art from US Pat. No. 4,561,351.
- a plate is hinged to a hand lever. If the hand lever is pivoted downwards against a can, the plate presses against the can with a lower edge and is pivoted against a hinge of the hand lever when the can is pressed in.
- the can diameter may only vary within narrow limits. If the can diameter is too large, the angle of impact of the plate on the can becomes too flat and the plate can no longer be pivoted inwards towards the pivot axis of the hand lever.
- the present invention has for its object to provide a generic device in which a can can be compressed with less force, so that its manual operation can also be done by weaker people.
- the invention has the advantage that the forces that occur enable a comparatively light and space-saving construction of the device, so that it can be set up easily at public collection points, in the kitchens of restaurants or households.
- the static element of the device forms a U-shaped stand 1, which behaves essentially stiff and dimensionally stable under the load that occurs.
- Its base 2 forms a support for a can 3 that is to be compressed and is open on one side, and has an active region 4 that supports the can 3 in the region of a surface line.
- the device has an input end 5 and a discharge end 6 for the can 3 and is preferably designed with the base 2 inclined towards the discharge end 6.
- the angle of inclination should preferably be selected such that a can 3 resting on the floor 2 slides against the discharge end 6. If the base 2 is oriented horizontally, a can can also be inserted into the device through the input end 5 and, after being compressed, can be removed again from this end.
- a longitudinal groove can be provided in the effective area 4 of the base 2.
- a pivot shaft 9 is mounted, on which the two ends of a bow-shaped actuator 10 are attached.
- the crossbar 10 'of this actuator 10 serves as a handle.
- a plate 11 is attached to the two legs of the organ 10 and, as will be described later, is assigned the function of a second force transmission element.
- the swivel path of the actuator 10 determines its work path (arrow 16).
- a flap 13 is articulated on the underside of the plate by means of a hinge 12 arranged parallel to the floor 2 and at right angles to the walls 7, 8. It hangs down under the action of gravity and is guided with lateral pins 14 in guide curves 15 of the walls 7, 8.
- the guide curves 15 can be placed on the walls 7, 8 or milled into them.
- the flap 13 has the function of a first force transmission element, the path of work of which is determined by the guide curves 15.
- the explained setup works as follows.
- the actuator 10 pivoted into its upper end position.
- a can 3 to be compressed is placed with the can base 18 in front from the input side 5 onto the base 2 and pushed against the discharge end 6 until it is at the previous highest point near the plate 11 or touches it.
- it is aligned essentially axially parallel to the longitudinal center of the base 2, whereby the latter supports at least along a surface line.
- the lower, preferably rounded narrow side 17 of the plate 15 is located above the can 3 and preferably between the can bottom and the can center.
- the narrow side 17 can also be formed by a roller rotatably mounted on the flap 13.
- both the plate 11 and the flap 13 move in a feed movement downward along an assigned working path.
- the flap 13 follows the guide curves 15 and, at the end of this movement phase, meets with the lower narrow side 17 at a specific point on its way to the highest lying surface line of the can shell. In the case of a box with a rectangular cross-section, it would hit the top of the box.
- the can base 18 can be in constant contact with the plate 11 and is pushed back by the latter towards the input end 5.
- the plate 13 exerts a force component directed against the effective area 4 of the support 2 on the can jacket and presses this initially with elastic deformation.
- the jacket bends and a crease notch is formed in the can jacket around the lower narrow side 17 of the flap 13 (FIG. 2a).
- the deformation of the can jacket causes a force which acts on the highest point 19 of the can base 18 and acts against the open can end, which is superimposed on a force component or is superimposed at the latest with the start of the subsequent third movement phase, which is exerted by the plate 11 the can bottom is exercised in the area of the highest point 19.
- this force component first exerts a torque directed against the effective area of the support 2 around the lower narrow side 17 of the flap 13 and later around the crease notch thereby created, and folds the can bottom 18 around the crease notch against the base 2 of the stand 1
- the guide curve 15 or the working path of the first force transmission element 13 undergoes a deflection during the transition from the curve branch which is oriented essentially at right angles to the floor 2 to an acute angle on the floor 2 in the direction of the input end 5 tapering branch b.
- the flap 15 is thereby moved during the further advance against the input end 5 or out of the active area of the plate 11, in which the can bottom 18 is pressed against the can jacket which has meanwhile been flattened (FIG. 2b).
- the actuator 10 is in the starting position (Fig. 2) pivoted up. If the stand 1 is inclined towards the discharge end 6, the compressed can slides under the plate 11 of the actuating member 10 pivoted back into the starting position and leaves the device 1 through the discharge end 6.
- the same parts as in the first exemplary embodiment are designated with the same reference numerals. Therefore, their repeated description is omitted.
- the differences from the first example lie in the fact that the two side walls 7, 8 are frame-shaped and are therefore open on the side.
- a second difference is the design of the first power transmission element. With these differences, it is caused that the first force transmission element is moved laterally towards the end of its feed path instead of towards the input end 5 of the stand 1.
- the second force transmission element consists of two levers 130 which can be pivoted symmetrically relative to one another and which are each connected to the plate 11 at the upper end outside the stand 1 via a universal joint 131.
- a flag 132 is attached, which are directed towards each other and whose lower, aligned narrow sides 133 functionally correspond to the lower narrow side 17 of the flap 13 in the first example.
- Each of the lower ends of the levers 130 is each connected via universal joints 134 to an associated link 135, which - likewise outside of the stand 1 - are firmly connected to the floor 2 via universal joints 136.
- two guide wedges 137 are attached to the floor 2.
- a can 3 to be pressed is pushed into the stand 1 from the input side 5 in the same way as in the first example.
- the actuating member 10 is then pivoted downward, whereupon the narrow sides 133 of the flags 132 hit the can jacket and press it in to form a notch.
- the can 3 is now deformed during the further downward pivoting of the actuator 10 in the same way as in the first example. If the can 3 is bent sufficiently (corresponding to FIG. 2a), the links 130 meet the guide wedges 137, as a result of which the levers 130 with the flags 132 are pivoted outwards in the final phase of the feed and thereby emerge from the effective area of the plate 11, so that this can pivot the can bottom 18 completely against the compressed can jacket.
- the complete compression requires the described workflow twice.
- the can 3 which has only been partially compressed, is inserted again - with the lid first - into the device and the actuating member 10 is pivoted downward.
- the lid (same as the bottom 18 above) is pressed against the can jacket and the can is pressed completely flat.

Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a device according to the preamble of
The devices of the type mentioned have in common that the force required for compressing empty cans is large, so that it can only be applied manually with difficulty. A reduction gear as a remedy has the disadvantage that the compression process is delayed in time, that is, it takes longer and is therefore no less tedious.
A device of this type has become known in the prior art from US Pat. No. 4,561,351. In this case, a plate is hinged to a hand lever. If the hand lever is pivoted downwards against a can, the plate presses against the can with a lower edge and is pivoted against a hinge of the hand lever when the can is pressed in. To ensure that the plate has the correct angle of impact on the can when the press is closed, the can diameter may only vary within narrow limits. If the can diameter is too large, the angle of impact of the plate on the can becomes too flat and the plate can no longer be pivoted inwards towards the pivot axis of the hand lever.
The present invention has for its object to provide a generic device in which a can can be compressed with less force, so that its manual operation can also be done by weaker people.
According to the invention, this object is achieved by the characterizing features of
The invention has the advantage that the forces that occur enable a comparatively light and space-saving construction of the device, so that it can be set up easily at public collection points, in the kitchens of restaurants or households.

The static element of the device forms a
Der Schwenkweg des Betätigungsorgans 10 bestimmt dessen Arbeitsweg (Pfeil 16).Between the two
The explained setup works as follows. In the initial position of the device, the
Under the action of a downward force P acting on the
In the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 3 and 4, the same parts as in the first exemplary embodiment are designated with the same reference numerals. Therefore, their repeated description is omitted. The differences from the first example lie in the fact that the two
If the
