Definitions
- the ignition mixture 12 consists of black powder, which is bound in nitrocellulose. About 10% nitrocellulose is dissolved in 90% acetone. All easily combustible materials, such as NC paper, and in particular the propellant charge in the form of pellets 10, 10.1, come into consideration as carrier materials.
- the ignition mixture is also arranged as layers 13 on the support tube 20, specifically inside and outside.
- the propellant charge tube 22 is in the shrink tube 15. This protects the glued pellets 10.1 against mechanical abrasion by vibrations, in particular by transport.
- the ignition mixture 12, which adheres to the pellets 10.1, is thus retained on the circumference of the propellant charge tube 22.
- the poured propellant charge 9 therefore does not lead to abrasion of the ignition mixture mentioned.
Abstract
Description
The invention relates to an ignition system for propellant charges according to the preamble of claim 1.
An ignition transfer charge for a large-caliber propellant charge is known from EP-A-0 306 616. This ignition transfer charge is shock-resistant because it is encased in a support tube. The ignition transfer charge consists of a high-energy propellant powder, while the support tube consists of molded normal propellant powder.
Such a low-pressure ignition system has relatively long ignition delay times of up to a few hundred milliseconds. One of the main reasons for this is the slow burning rate of the reinsulated charge.
The invention has for its object to provide a combustible ignition system according to EP-A-0 206 616, which has a very short implementation time for igniting the propellant charge and is also suitable because of the high energy generation of multi-part charge structures.
Die Erfindung löst diese Aufgabe entsprechend den kennzeichnenden Merkmalen des Anspruches 1.The invention solves this problem in accordance with the characterizing features of claim 1.
Advantageous developments of the invention can be found in the subclaims.
The following conditions are essential for the invention:
- 1. Part of the propellant charge in the form of pellets is thinly coated with the ignition mixture,
- 2. The coated pellets are arranged within a burstable or combustible thin-walled shrink tube
- 3. the shrink tube is arranged concentrically around a perforated, likewise combustible support tube,
- 4. A flame charge from an ignition amplifier penetrates the support tube axially unhindered and radiates evenly radially onto the coated pellets corresponding to the holes.
Because the pyrotechnic coating burns directly on the propellant powder, there is a significantly greater heat transfer into this material. The amount of energy that pyrotechnics can use for ignition is thus significantly higher than in existing systems.

According to FIG. 1, there is a propellant charge module 1 for large-caliber ammunition, for example a two-part tank cannon ammunition according to FIG 9 in the form of
These pellets 10.1 are each completely surrounded by a layer 12 of an ignition mixture. This ignition mixture bonds the pellets 10.1 to a so-called
The ignition mixture 12 consists of black powder, which is bound in nitrocellulose. About 10% nitrocellulose is dissolved in 90% acetone. All easily combustible materials, such as NC paper, and in particular the propellant charge in the form of
The ignition mixture is also arranged as
Anschließend verbrennen das Mantelrohr 5 und der Deckel 6.After ignition of the
The layers 12 on the pellets 10.1 are ignited almost without delay - that is, almost simultaneously. The pellets 10.1 therefore burn almost simultaneously. The
The circumferential, poured
This lighting in a broad front represents an enormously increased swelling effect compared to the prior art. This swelling effect enables more powder, i.
According to FIG. 3, a two-part ammunition 1.30 has a
Surprisingly, the
The implementation of the combustible materials mentioned then leads to the acceleration of the projectile 31 in a weapon barrel, not shown. The
The mechanically stable
The
According to FIGS. 4 and 5, in the case of a one-piece propellant charge module 40, a projectile 32 projects into the first third of the
Two ignition units 14.1 are arranged eccentrically to the projectile 32 and connected to the
Instead of the
This structure described in relation to FIGS. 4 and 5 is also suitable for the two-part ammunition 1, 2 according to FIG. 3 or also for an ammunition (not shown) with a plurality of separate propellant charge modules. The first propellant charge module has the structure according to FIG. 1, while the subsequent propellant charge modules also have the structure according to FIG. 1 except for the
