Claims (10)

1. A storage unit of the type comprising a carrying case (2) with a lower body (6) having a closable lid (7) articulated on its rear edge, and a support (1) for the said case, characterised in that

   - the support (1) has two opposed edges (13A, 13B) supporting the two opposed edges of the carrying case (2), namely an edge on the hinge side of the lid (7), or rear edge (13A), and an edge on the closure side of the lid (7), or front edge (13B);

   - the rear edge (13A) comprises retaining means (51) to counteract lifting of the rear edge of the carrying case;

   - for closure purposes the lid (7) comprises at least one catch (25) having a hook (48) to snap into place behind a raised coupling portion (26) provided on the body (6) of the case, the said catch having a projection (50) at its upper part;

   - the front edge (13B) of the support (1) supports at least one articulated knuckle (5) comprising a frame (44), suitable for catching behind the projection (50) on the catch (25) of the lid (7) when the carrying case (2) is in position on the support (1), and a locking lever (40) articulated on the front edge (13B) and on the frame (44);

   - the arrangement being such that after the catching of the frame (44) behind the said projection (50), operation of the lever (40) causes the said hook (48) to snap into place behind the said raised portion (26) prior to reaching the dead centre of the knuckle joint, and then, after the said dead centre has been passed, the lever (40) reaches a final stable position in which it locks the carrying case on the support.
2. A storage unit in accordance with claim 1, characterised in that the said projection (50) on the catch (25) surrounds the front and upper sides of the crosspiece (45) of the frame (44) in the locking position of the lever (40).
3. A storage unit in accordance with claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the axis (42) of articulation of the lever (40) on the frame (44) is concealed by the lever when it is in locking position.
4. A storage unit in accordance with any one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the knuckle joint (5) comprises a lever support (38) snapped into place on the front edge (13B) of the support (1).
5. A storage unit in accordance with any one of claims 1 to 4, characterised in that the knuckle joint (5) comprises a lever support (39) defining a side plate (38), the free end of which has an opening (53) for introduction of a padlock or the like when the lever (40) is in locking position.
6. A storage unit in accordance with any one of claims 1 to 5, characterised in that the support (1) is a storage box open upwardly.
7. A storage unit in accordance with claim 6, forming a tool box which firstly comprises the said storage box (1) provided with a carrying handle (4), and secondly comprises the said carrying case (2) which is intended to hold small tools and accessories and is also provided with a carrying handle (8).
8. A storage unit in accordance with claim 7, characterised in that the tool box comprises an intermediate removable plate (3) sandwiched between the raised portions (14 to 16) of the box (1) and the case (2).
9. A storage unit in accordance with claim 7 or 8, characterised in that the box (1) comprises means (18, 19) for holding a handsaw (33), more particularly a hacksaw, against a lateral wall (11) of the box, the said means particularly comprising a hook (22) oriented upwardly and projecting from the said lateral wall (11).
10. A storage unit in accordance with claim 9, characterised in that on its side opposite the said lateral wall (11) the hook has a surface (21) forming a guide slope for positioning the carrying case.
