Claims (13)

  1. An apparatus for cooling extruded sections
    a) with an upper air jet (4) with a slit-shaped jet orifice and disposed above a track along which the extruded section (1) is delivered and
    b) with, below the delivery track and in the transport direction offset in relation to the upper jet (4), lower air jets (5) disposed at a shorter distance from the extruded section (1) than is the upper jet (4),
    characterised in that
    c) a plurality of upper air jets (4), in the transport direction of the extruded section (1), are disposed one after another and in each case offset by half a spacing in relation to the lower jets (5),
    d) the lower jets (5) have slit-shaped jet orifices with a smaller jet slot width than the upper jets (4) and
    e) the jet orifices of the lower and upper jets (4, 5) extend crosswise to the extrusion and delivery direction (2) of the extruded section (1).
  2. An apparatus according to Claim 1, characterised in that the jet bodies of the air jets (4, 5) are provided with means of varying the nozzle pressure in at least two portions of the air jet (4, 5), viewed in the longitudinal direction of the jet slot, in other words crosswise to the extrusion and transport direction (2) of the extruded section (1).
  3. An apparatus according to Claim 2, characterised in that the means of varying the jet pressure consist of slide plates (28) adapted for displacement crosswise to the longitudinal axis of the jet slots and which by reason of perforations which differ in the longitudinal direction of the slide plates (28), throttle the flow of air in the cross-section of flow to the jet slots as they move in their longitudinal direction.
  4. An apparatus according to one of Claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the delivery track consists of a roller way (3) and in that the lower air jets (5) are disposed exactly or at least approximately exactly between the rollers of the roller way and the upper air jets (4) are positioned exactly or approximately exactly above the rollers of the roller way (3).
  5. An apparatus according to one of Claims 1 to 4, characterised in that the upper air jets (4) together with their jet boxes which serve to supply them with air are capable of vertical adjustment in order to change their distance from the extruded section (1).
  6. An apparatus according to one of Claims 1 to 5, characterised by a rapid lift means for the upper jets (4) and by switching means to trigger the rapid lift means.
  7. An apparatus according to one of Claims 1 to 6, characterised by radial fans (8, 12) to supply the air jets (4, 5).
  8. An apparatus according to one of Claims 1 to 7, characterised in that in the air jet panels (4, 5) above or below the extruded section (1) there are water jets (31, 32) to enhance the cooling effect.
  9. An apparatus according to Claim 8, characterised in that the water jets (32) are mounted on jet assemblies (31) mounted in the air jet bodies (30).
  10. An apparatus according to one of Claims 8 or 9, characterised in that the water jets (31, 32) with the jet assemblies (31) carrying them are adapted for reciprocating movement crosswise to the extrusion and delivery direction (2) of the extruded section (1).
  11. An apparatus according to one of Claims 8 to 10, characterised in that the jet assemblies (31) of the water jets (31, 32) are subdivided into at least two portions which can be supplied with water at different pressures and/or in differing quantities.
  12. An apparatus according to one of Claims 1 to 11, characterised in that the upper jet panel (4) is divided in its central longitudinal vertical section and in that the two parts (4r, 41) of the upper jet panel (4) are mounted to rotate at their outer edges about axes (20r, 201) which extend in the extrusion and delivery direction (2) of the extruded section (1) and in that each partial jet panel (4r, 41) can be pivoted in a vertical or approximately vertical direction by a rotary movement leading outwards from the centre.
  13. An apparatus according to Claim 12, characterised in that in order to adjust the height of the two upper partial jet panels (4r, 41) to the form of the extruded section (1), the vertical positions of the lateral axes (20r, 201) are adjustable.
