Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a security paper which can be authenticated using means forming a colored trace on the paper, this trace being erasable.
  • Various security papers are known which can be authenticated using authentication compositions. Such papers are described, for example, in European patent application EP-A-391,542, filed by WIGGINS TEAPE.
  • a security paper authentication system is described which comprises, in combination, a security paper comprising both a starch and an iodate salt and an authentication composition consisting of an acidic solution. an iodide, the system being such that when the authentication composition is applied to the authentic security paper, the iodine is generated and a characteristic amidoniode color is produced.
  • German patent DE-C-856 842 has also described a paper which contains a pH indicator, this indicator coloring differently when the paper is moistened with water having a certain pH.
  • the paper thus obtained has the initial coloring of the pH indicator. For example, if bromophenol blue is used as an indicator, the paper is yellow. If you humidify, a blue trace forms.
  • German patent DE-C-397 363 describes a process for manufacturing a security paper such as sulfur dyes, copper dyes which are introduced into the paper by treatment with alkaline agents. or reducing, a color which under the action of air disappears again, so that the initial dye is regenerated.
  • an authentication system which includes a security paper on which marks or traces can be produced using an authentication composition, the marks being erasable by a second composition.
  • An object of the invention is therefore to be able to carry out an authentication of a security paper, this authentication being non-destructive.
  • Another object of the invention is to be able to quickly check a security paper and without harming the initial appearance of the paper.
  • Another object of the invention is to obtain a reversibly authenticated security paper, this paper having a white color.
  • the paper comprises the ions of the transition metals and that the authentication composition comprises the complexing agent of these ions.
  • the complexing agent is the thiocyanate ion, used in the form of salts chosen in particular from its potassium or ammonium or sodium salts;
  • the transition metal ions are more preferably ions of copper or cobalt, in particular copper II or cobalt II, used in the form of salts such as copper chloride or sulfate, for example;
  • the erasing composition comprises a reducing agent such as sulfite or bisulfite ions.
  • the paper comprises a potassium thiocyanate
  • the authentication composition comprises a copper chloride
  • the erasing composition comprises sodium sulfite
  • the paper may contain copper chloride and the authentication composition may contain thiocyanate.
  • the complexing agent is the thiocyanate ion, used in the form of salts chosen in particular from its potassium or ammonium or sodium salts;
  • the ions transition metals are iron ions, in particular iron III, used in the form of its salts such as ferric chloride;
  • the erasing composition comprises fluoride ions.
  • the paper comprises a potassium thiocyanate
  • the authentication composition comprises ferric chloride at a pH less than or equal to 3
  • the erasure composition comprises sodium fluoride
  • the paper to be authenticated is based on cellulose fibers and / or synthetic fibers. It may optionally be a synthetic paper made from a plastic film, possibly loaded and / or coated.
  • the paper may contain other security elements (fluorescent fibers, planks, watermarks, chemical falsification reagents, etc.).
  • This paper can be suitable for many applications to combat counterfeiting (entrance tickets to cultural or sporting events, transport tickets, visas, labels in particular for valuables and / or protected by copyright, etc ).
  • the reagent contained in this paper can be introduced en masse or put on its surface by coating, impregnation or sizing or by printing. It can be put in the form of patterns.
  • the authenticating composition can advantageously be put in a felt-tip pen, an ink pen or an ink pad.
  • the erasing composition can be put in a pen.
  • a security paper is made on a FOUDRINIER type paper machine from an aqueous suspension of cellulose fibers and various agents commonly used in stationery.
  • An aqueous composition of potassium thiocyanate at 5% by dry weight is produced. This composition is deposited on the surface of the paper, for example in a size press.
  • An authentication composition is produced by placing an aqueous solution of 100 g / l of copper chloride.
  • An erasing composition is produced by placing an aqueous solution of 100 g / l of sodium sulfite.
  • a colored mark is formed which can range from gray-green to deep black depending on the quantities of each reagent brought into contact (for the quantities cited in the example give a deep black). This mark is removed by applying the composition of sodium sulfite contained for example in another felt pen.
  • the colored mark can be erased several days after its formation.
  • a paper is produced as in Example 1 treated on the surface with the same thiocyanate solution.
  • An authentication composition is produced by placing an aqueous solution of 16 g / l of ferric chloride at a pH less than or equal to 3.
  • An erasing composition is produced by placing 50 g / l of sodium fluoride in aqueous solution.
  • a paper is produced as in Example 1 in a neutral medium; the pH of the paper is around 7.
  • An authentication composition is produced by putting a weak base in aqueous solution, for example sodium carbonate.
  • An erasing composition is produced by placing a weak acid, for example acetic acid, in aqueous solution.
  • a weak acid for example acetic acid
