Description

The invention relates to a plier can opener according to the preamble of claim 1.

In the known embodiment of this type according to the German patents 28 02 172 and 28 43 442 there are the disadvantages that a collar must be pressed out of the feed arm by the mounting of the plastic bearing bush. This necessitates a special, high-quality steel quality for manufacture, which can be deep-drawn. However, there is always a risk that the edge of the collar will tear and form sharp-edged tips. Furthermore, it has been shown that the attachment of the handles loosen during use. In addition, these handles no longer correspond to today's aesthetic sensations.

The invention is therefore based on the object to avoid a pliers can opener of the generic type, in which the handles are designed with a good fit, in which a secure storage of the twist grip is guaranteed in the feed arm and in which no high demands are placed on avoiding the deficiencies mentioned the steel quality of the metal levers.

This object is achieved with the characterizing features of claim 1. The use of two-part handle shells with molded bearing bush, which in turn is held by the second handle shell, ensures an extremely stable mounting of the rotary handle.

There is a lot of free space for the design, but the grips are held securely on the metal levers.

Further refinements of the invention can be found in the subclaims. The selected locking of the two handle scales ensures a very precise, secure fit on the metal levers. A loosening or even an axial slipping is reliably prevented by the hooked, spring-shaped hooks. The attachment of the eyelets at the end of the handle scales also allows easy storage on a hook and they are now used as spacers for the two handles. Due to the overlapping design of the eyelets, the handles are securely held together when they are hung up and protect the heel of the hand from being pinched when the pliers can opener is actuated.

An embodiment of the invention is explained below with reference to the drawings.

The pliers can opener on which the exemplary embodiment is based consists of two metal levers 11 and 12 which are connected to one another by a concealed articulated bolt 13. The upper section of the one lever 11 is designed as a feed arm 14 and carries a feed wheel 15 with teeth. A gear wheel 17 is arranged above the feed wheel 15, which can be moved by a turning handle 16. The twist grip 16 sits on a threaded bolt 20 which is guided in a bearing bush 21 and receives both the gear 17 and the feed wheel 15 in a rotationally fixed manner. The twist grip 16 is made of plastic and is firmly connected to the threaded bolt 20.

The second lever 12 is designed as a cutting arm 31 at its upper end. A rivet bolt 33 is seated on a pyramid-shaped bearing 32 which is pushed out obliquely from the cutting arm 31 and which, with the interposition of a disk 34, rotatably receives a gear wheel 35 and a cutting wheel 36.

The two gears 17 and 35 are in engagement with one another, so that the rotary movement generated by an operator with the help of the rotary handle 16 is transmitted to the cutting wheel 36. The lower ends 37 and 38 of the levers 11 and 12 are angled outwards and equipped with handles 39 and 40.

The handle 39 consists of an upper handle 18 and a lower handle 19. The handle 40 also consists of an upper and lower handle, which are somewhat shorter and only extend to the beginning of the cutting arm 31.

The upper handle shell continues in a disc shape up to the hinge pin 13 of the feed arm 14 and has a stop plate 24 formed thereon. The bearing bush 21 is integrally formed on the inside. The stop plate 24 and the bearing bush 21 are thus made in one piece with the upper handle 18 via a base plate 23.

The upper grip 18 is locked with the lower grip 19 without the inclusion of the metal lever 11. The lower grip shell is provided with a cover plate 26 analogous to the base plate 23. This cover plate 26 has an opening 27 into which the bearing bush 21 engages. The bearing bush 21 has two flattened portions 29 in its rear region 28, which correspond to cross-sectional constrictions 30 of the opening 27. Parallel to the cross-sectional constrictions 30 are two slots 41 which form two snap webs 42.

Furthermore, the lower handle shell is provided with bushes 43 which penetrate the metal lever 11 in bores and are pressed into the pins 44 fastened to the upper handle shell 18. In the present exemplary embodiment, the pins 44 are designed as hollow pins. Furthermore, both the upper grip 18 and the lower grip 19 are provided with resilient hooks 45 which engage behind rectangular openings 46 in the metal lever 1.

The handle 40 is also constructed from an upper handle 47 and a lower handle 48 with corresponding bushes 43, pins 44 and hooks 45. The metal lever 12 also has holes for the sleeves 43 and rectangular openings 46 for the hooks.

Furthermore, an eyelet 49 is provided on the lower grip 19 at the end. This eyelet 49 is opposite a trough 50 in the upper handle 47. At the end, the lower grip 48 also has an eyelet 49, which in turn is opposite a depression 50 in the upper grip 18.
