Abstract

Prior art driers and especially intermediate driers still take some considerable time to dry the various items (7). In order to shorten drying times considerably and improve the drying process, it is proposed according to the invention to arrange the necessary lamps (F, G, H) in a drier array in a mutual grid pattern whereby, if tubular lamps (F, G, H) are used, they are preferably arranged in staggered array in two planes. The drier is particularly suitable for drying printing inks.

Description

The invention relates to a dryer, especially an intermediate dryer, especially for drying printing ink, food coloring, etc. according to the preamble of claim 1.

In many technical areas, intermediate drying of the material to be processed is necessary after each stage of the process has been carried out. This applies, for example, in the printing industry and there in particular also in the production of screen prints. Because with multi-color screen printing, after the application of a respective color printing sequence, the printing ink must first be dried before the next screen printing ink can be applied.

However, intermediate drying steps of this kind are also necessary when drying printing inks, not only in the textile sector, but also when printing on paper, foils and other media, for example even when coloring marzipan.

Devices have become known as dryers and, in particular, intermediate dryers, by means of intensive light irradiation carry out a drying process. For example, several fluorescent tubes can be arranged in parallel next to one another, so that when the intermediate drying process is carried out, the material to be dried is placed on a storage table below the tubes and then irradiated through the fluorescent tubes. After the drying process has been completed, the next processing and process step can begin.

Such an arrangement has become known, for example, from FR-A-1 072 871.

In this known prior art, a certain improvement can be achieved compared to previous solutions in that, for example, two different types of tubes are used, which are alternately arranged next to one another in parallel. The two tube types were selected so that they emitted a light spectrum with different light wavelengths, which accelerated the drying process. This can be explained by the fact that the printing inks consist of a large number of different chemical compounds, the drying speed of which is fundamentally different. By drying printing inks with only one tube or general lamp type with a certain frequency and color temperature band determined by the technical structure of the lamp tube, this means that only a certain, very narrow range of printing inks is optimal due to this defined wavelength or the wavelength range defined thereby can be dried. All inks outside this range of inks dry poorly or do not respond at all.

The previously known dryers and in particular intermediate dryers were able to do so despite improvements that have already been identified cause a certain shortening of the drying time required, but without the result could already be described as satisfactory.

It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a dryer and, in particular, an intermediate dryer with which, in a period which is still considerably shorter than that of the prior art, the drying of the dry material, which can be described as satisfactory, in particular with printing inks containing water or plastisol treated dry goods is possible.

The object is achieved according to the features specified in claim 1. Advantageous embodiments of the invention are specified in the subclaims.

The device according to the invention makes it possible for the first time to considerably shorten the total time required for the treatment, in particular the printing process, including the drying and again the intermediate drying time, even if the chemical structure of water-soluble or plastisol-containing printing inks varies greatly. As a result, the utilization of the required machine systems increases considerably.

According to the invention, this is ensured by the fact that in the dryer lamps with different light frequency band range and / or intensity are arranged in a grid pattern in such a way that there is an optimal light overlap area on the material to be dried. When arranging individual lamps in the form of a bulb, this means that the individual lamp types arranged in several rows are mounted in such a way that the individual lamps come to lie on straight lines or rows intersecting each other, particularly when using tubular lamps in such a way that they are arranged in two Levels are angled, preferably at right angles to each other. This makes drying times significantly shorter, which is quite surprising.

Especially when using three and several different lamp types and in particular fluorescent tube types, these can preferably be arranged at three angles to one another. For example, the fluorescent tubes can be offset by 90 ° to each other in such a way that, in plan view, the fluorescent tubes aligned parallel to each other in the top and bottom level are offset by half a distance from one another in order to ensure optimal illumination.

Lamps and, in particular, tubular lamps which emit wavelengths in the infrared range above 800 nm, in particular above 1.0 μm, are preferred. In principle, however, all possible incandescent, discharge and / or fluorescent lamps and various combinations, including lamps that emit in the UV range, come into consideration in order to ensure optimization.

Further advantages, details and features of the invention result below from the exemplary embodiments illustrated in more detail with reference to drawings. The following show in detail:

another embodiment.

The dryer shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 consists of a large number of lamps 1, ie tubular lamps 1 in the exemplary embodiment shown. In the exemplary embodiment shown, tubular lamps with three different tube types F, G and H are used, which emit light in different wavelength ranges and / or - emit intensities, the spectrum being optimally matched to the dry material.

In FIGS. 1 and 2, for example, lamp type H is arranged in the dryer in the lowest level at a regular distance from one another in parallel position. At a distance above this first level, a plurality of tubular lamps 1 of the further lamp type G are then arranged in a parallel position at a regular distance from one another in a second middle level.

In the third and uppermost level, the tubular lamps 1 of the third lamp type F are then again mounted in parallel position at regular intervals.

In the exemplary embodiment shown, the tubular lamps are arranged offset from one another by 90 °, so that the tubular lamps 1 of type F lying on the uppermost level are aligned parallel to the tubular lamps 1 of type H lying in the lowest level, but - As can be seen above all in Figure 1 - are offset by half the distance to each other. It can also be seen from this that at least the tubular lamps are installed in the top and bottom levels at the same distance in parallel position, but offset from one another by half the distance in plan view.

Through this arrangement, especially using a reflector 3 mounted above it, the drying material 7 that can be brought on a lower drying level 5 can be optimally dried or dried.

Depending on the material to be dried, mainly lamps with a light spectrum in the invisible infrared range with different wavelengths are used. However, combinations from the infrared to the visible wavelength range up to the ultraviolet wavelength range are also possible, in which case not only the lamp and in particular tube type, but also the number of different lamp and in particular tube types can be different.

The lamp arrangement explained avoids an otherwise inhomogeneous illumination which inevitably arises not only with different, but even with the same tubular lamps 1. Because parallel arrangement of one or different tube types only in one plane inevitably results in streaks or stains that have not yet dried on, in addition to the already dry areas of paint, depending on the intensity or the angle of exposure of the tubular lamps 1 simply because the illumination area of each tubular lamp is very different over the total length of the lamp body and, especially towards the end regions of the tubular lamps 1, already clearly decreases over the last third of the total length. It is therefore also conceivable that, with reference to the exemplary embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, for each lamp type in the region of the holding and feeding ends, at least one further tube lamp of the same type with a plane offset from it and transversely to the otherwise parallel tube lamps is arranged, preferably below the respective level of the tube lamps of the same type that are otherwise parallel to one another. This can be used to counteract the drop in intensity of the fluorescent and tube lamps in the area of their holding and feeding ends.

In the exemplary embodiment explained with reference to FIGS. 1 and 2, the distance between the individual lamp planes can be chosen quite differently. A distance from one to the other lamp level of, for example, 3 cm to 10 cm, preferably 4 to 6 cm, that is to say 5 cm, is entirely desirable and sufficient. If the lamps are too close together, the heating may become too large. If the distance is chosen too large, the distance from the upper or at least the uppermost lamp level to the material to be dried may be too great and the lighting intensity too low.

The distance to the reflector level from the uppermost lamp level can also be chosen within wide limits, for example vary from 3 cm to 20 cm. The distance from the lowest lamp level to the items to be dried is, for example, 6 cm and can generally vary from approximately 3 cm to 20 cm, preferably to 10 cm, the heating device often pointing upwards after the lamps have been switched on for the first time and the drying process started can be moved back to produce a greater distance from the items to be dried.

The disadvantage of the non-uniform drying due to the use of a lattice-shaped arrangement structure for the tubular lamps 1 basically also applies in the case of lamps in the form of a bulb. Corresponding bulb-shaped lamps 1 could then be in lines, i.e. are arranged in several parallel rows to one another, in such a way that the bulb-shaped different lamp types F, G or, for example, H come to lie in a top view on straight lines, as shown in FIG. 1 for the case of tubular lamps. In the case of individual bulb lamps, however, these can of course then be offset from one another in a common plane, so that a grid or lattice structure comparable to FIG. 1 results.

An offset arrangement is shown purely by way of example also with reference to FIG. 3 for bulb lamps, consisting of three different types, which are arranged in a rectangular grid in one plane in such a way that the three lamp types are interchanged by one place in each row.

Finally, tubular or bulb-shaped lamps can also be provided in a grid-like or grid-like arrangement comparable to FIG. 1 or 3 in one or more planes.

Finally, the various lamp types can be electrically or optimally adapted to the actual drying process mechanically controlled and / or changed, the lighting times can sometimes be extremely short to initiate the drying process.

Typ F:
Röhrentype FQS 300 (geschlossene Hallogenlampe)
Wellenlänge 1,5 µm
el. Leistung 600 W
Typ G:
Röhrentype HSS 350 ( geschlossene Hallogenlampe )
Wellenlänge 2,5 µm
el. Leistung 500 W
Typ H:
Röhrentype HHS 450 (offene Glasröhre mit Wendel)
Wellenlänge 4,5 µm
el. Leistung 350 W
Thread tubes of the following types, for example, can be used for the exemplary embodiment explained with reference to FIGS. 1 and 2:
Type F:
Tube type FQS 300 (closed halogen lamp)
Wavelength 1.5 µm
power 600 W
Type G:
Tube type HSS 350 (closed halogen lamp)
Wavelength 2.5 µm
el. power 500 W
Type H:
Tube type HHS 450 (open glass tube with spiral)
Wavelength 4.5 µm
power 350 W

The example according to the invention has been described with reference to a lamp arrangement with at least two lamp types with different wavelength spectrum and / or intensities. Sometimes, however, a lamp arrangement with only one lamp type can be sufficient.
