Description

The invention relates to a heat exchanger, in particular an oil cooler, with a disc package made up of stacked disc bodies which are connected to one another with flow openings and a housing including this with a plastic jacket, the disc package and housing being flowed through by one of the media subjected to the heat exchange.

A heat exchanger of this type is known (EP 0 124 217 A1). In this known type of construction, the pane bodies are first tightly soldered to the two panes, which will later become the base and the cover, and then the plastic jacket is inserted from the cover side over the still upstanding edge of the cover with the interposition of a seal into a base edge, and then the raised edge of the lid is also folded over with a seal around the other face of the jacket. This type of manufacture and assembly of the plastic housing ring on the pre-soldered base body is complex.

The invention is based on the object, one To design heat exchangers of the type mentioned at the outset so that the folding of the cover and base around the plastic jacket and the relatively complicated placement of the plastic jacket on the disk pack can be dispensed with. To solve this problem, it is provided in a heat exchanger of the type mentioned that the bottom and the cover of the housing are also made of plastic, each with a fitted seal for sealing against the disk pack and are welded to the end faces of the jacket, each seal a stop edge on the bottom and on the lid is assigned, which rests on the respective contact surface of the bill packet after the welding, and the seal between the disk packet and base or disk packet and lid is pretensioned.

With this configuration, only the disk package needs to be soldered, which is then adequately sealed by welding the cover and the base to the jacket with respect to the cover and base and thus also with respect to the second heat exchange medium. From DE 32 47 502 Al it is known in principle to weld a plastic tube sheet of a heat exchanger to a plastic water tank. However, fitting a seal between parts of the plastic bodies to be welded to one another does not matter. In contrast, however, the invention proposes a simple design of a disk package to be securely sealed with respect to a housing, in which this sealing has hitherto been carried out exclusively by soldering.

Advantageous developments of the invention result from the subclaims. It is particularly advantageous if the base and the casing form a one-piece, pot-like housing, onto which only the plastic cover then has to be welded. It is also advantageous if the seal is fitted in a recess in the bottom of the housing and in the cover, the stop edge (Claim 4) can surround this recess. It is entirely possible to apply the sealing material in strip form directly to areas of the recess in such a way that the desired sealing effect is achieved when the cover is welded to the housing.

However, it is particularly advantageous if the seal is applied as a strip of sealing material on a thin carrier material, the contour of which is adapted to the recess. In this case, it is sufficient to insert the gasket, in which the gasket material can advantageously be applied as a closed ring strip on both sides of a carrier foil serving as carrier material, into the recess surrounded by the stop edge, insert the disc package and the also put on a cover with the sealing material provided with a carrier film and press it against the housing during the welding process until the stop edges rest on each other. The sealing material can be sprayed in a simple manner (claim 7) onto the carrier film in strips, and these sealing strips can advantageously (mirror 8) be applied mirror-symmetrically to a plane running through the center of the carrier film and parallel to its surfaces provided with the sealing material. This way, since the carrier film only needs to be very thin, an easy-to-use elastic seal is created, which can be inserted and fitted exactly into the recesses provided for this purpose, so that assembly is very simple.

The dimensions of the stop edge (claim 9) and the recess on the one hand and the dimensions of the carrier film and the applied sealing strips on the other hand can advantageously be coordinated with one another in such a way that the sealing material is compressed to approximately 60% of its initial thickness after the cover and housing have been welded together and so on under the desired one and sufficient preload. The cover and base can be expediently connected to the casing or the cover to the housing by ultrasonic welding, the zones to be welded being joined together by softening and the axial force applied during this welding process being limited by the abutting abutment edges. The preload that is then achieved is sufficient on the one hand to achieve a secure seal against the second heat exchange medium. On the other hand, however, it is not too high to bring with it the risk of the sealing material becoming fatigued prematurely. It has proven expedient to use silicone as the sealing material, which can be sprayed onto the carrier film in a simple manner (claim 11).

Die Fig. 3 zeigt, daß auf der Innenseite des Bodens (6) zwei nach innen abragende Zapfen (10 und 11) vorgesehen sind, die dazu dienen, das später in das Gehäuse (1) eingesetzte Scheibenpaket gemäß den Fig. 5 und 6 in seiner Lage innerhalb des Gehäuses auszurichten.1 to 3, a pot-shaped housing (1) is shown, which has two connecting pieces (2 and 3) projecting outwards from a flattened housing side (1a) for the inlet and outlet of a heat exchange medium, here a coolant is. The housing (1) is made of plastic and is provided with a bottom (6) which is provided with a plurality of reinforcing ribs (4 and 5) and which has a central opening (7). The housing (1), which, with the exception of the flattened wall (1a) and its lateral transitions, has an essentially circular pot shape, has on its free edge (8) that the bottom (6) opposite, a thinner, from the face of the edge (8) outwardly protruding bead (8a), which, as will be explained later, is used for welding with a plastic cover. Otherwise, a groove (9) for receiving a seal is provided on the bottom (6) of the housing and on the outside thereof between two circumferential concentric reinforcing ribs (4), which is used to seal against a connection part, for example the motor, whose oil is cooled shall be. Fig. 3 shows that on the inside of the bottom (6) two inwardly projecting pins (10 and 11) are provided, which are used to later in the housing (1) inserted disc package according to FIGS. 5 and 6 in align its location within the housing.

However, as Fig. 4 also shows, on the inside of the bottom (6) a recess (14) surrounded by a stop edge (12) with a flatter edge (13) is provided, which serves to form a flat seal (29), such as it is shown and explained in Figs. 11 and 12 to suitably accommodate.

Abflußkanälen für das zweite Wärmetauschmedium, im vorliegenden Fall für Öl, herzustellen.5 and 6 show - according to FIG. 7 - the disk package (15) to be inserted into the housing (1), which, in a known manner, consists of a plurality of hollow disk bodies (16) which are stacked and soldered to one another. A pipe socket (17) extends through the center of all the disc bodies and protrudes from the disc package (15) at the top and bottom. These protruding nozzle parts of the tube (17) are used when installing the disc package (15) in the opening (7) of the housing (1) or in an opening (23) of a cover, which is also based on FIGS. 8, 9 and 10 is explained. All disk bodies (16) have on the sides diametrically opposite the tube (17) two kidney-shaped elongated holes (18) which serve on the one hand to connect the interiors of all the disk bodies (16) with one another and on the other hand also the connection to not shown Inflow channels or outflow channels for the to produce a second heat exchange medium, in the present case for oil.

Fig. 7 shows that the pins (10 and 11), when the pipe socket (17) protrudes into the opening (7) of the housing (1), in turn protrude into one of the two kidney-shaped openings (18) and so , since they rest at the ends of the elongated hole (18), ensure that the disc package (15) is secured in the housing (1) in an exact position. Through this alignment, the elongated hole (18) on the right in FIG. 6 is congruent with an also kidney-shaped elongated hole opening (19) in the bottom (6) of the housing (1), so that through this opening (19) e.g. the inflow of the oil to be cooled into the disk pack (15) can be effected. The oil can in turn on the other side of the disk pack (15) through the opening (28) opposite the pipe socket (17) diametrically opposite the opening (19) in a cover (21) and through a filter (not shown) back into the pipe (17) and flow back to the engine from there. This return of the oil is not the subject of the present invention.

The lid (21) is also made of plastic, and expediently from the same plastic as the housing (1). On its outer edge, the cover has a circumferential groove (22) into which the edge (8 and 8a) of the housing (1) is inserted and, for example, with the cover (21). can be connected by ultrasonic welding. The lid (21), as can be seen in FIG. 10, also has radially and concentrically extending reinforcing ribs on its outside, which give the lid the necessary stability. It is provided with an opening (23) in its center, the diameter of which corresponds to the diameter of the opening (7) and is adapted to the diameter of the tube (17).

On the inside is also the cover (21) with a circumferential Provide stop edge (24) which, as with the bottom (6) of the housing (1), surrounds a recess (25) with a flatter edge (26) framing it. This recess (25) has a shape which is symmetrical with respect to a central longitudinal plane (27) (FIG. 10) and which can be approximately referred to as the shape of an eight with a central bulged part. A kidney-shaped elongated hole (28) is arranged in one half of this recess (25), the shape of which corresponds to the elongated holes (18) of the disk package (15) and, as already indicated, serves to prevent the outflow of the through the disk body ( 16) of the disk pack (15) of flowing oil into a deflection or filter space, from where it can then be routed back through the pipe (17) of the disk pack (15) back to the starting point, usually to the engine. With the exception of the position of the elongated holes (28) and (19), the recesses (13, 14) in the base (6) and the recesses (26, 25) in the cover (21) correspond.

In order to seal the disk pack (15) in the area of the elongated holes (18) to the assigned inlet openings (19) in the housing (1) or to the outlet opening (28) in the cover (21), this is shown in FIG. 11 and 12 shown seal (29) is provided, which consists of a thin carrier film (30) made of metal or of a sufficiently rigid plastic, onto which strips (31) encircling on both sides are sprayed from a sealing material, for example from silicone. In the exemplary embodiment, as can be seen in particular in FIG. 11, the sealing strip has a contour of a central ring which surrounds a circular opening (32) in the carrier film (30) and is supplemented on both sides by ear-shaped projections which have kidney-shaped openings (33 ) surrounded in the carrier film (30), the shape of which is in turn adapted to the shape of the openings (28) in the cover or (19) in the bottom (6) of the housing (1). The carrier film can consist of an approximately 0.5 mm thick material that is mirror-symmetrical on both sides a through the center of the carrier foil (30) and parallel to its plane (30a) provided with the sealing strips (31) is provided with the sealing strips (31) in a uniform layer thickness of about 0.4 mm. As is known, silicone can be sprayed on in very precise doses, so that the seal (29) can be produced in a very simple manner using a carrier material.

For assembly, the seal (29) is then placed on the one hand in the recess (13, 14) of the housing (1) and a second seal in the recess (25, 26) in the cover (21). The carrier film lies on the flatter border (13) or (26) in the bottom and in the lid and centers there, while the sealing strips (31) protruding from the carrier film are each in the deeper recess (14) of the bottom ( 6) or (25) of the cover (21). The dimensions are such that the cutout (14) is not much deeper than the peripheral edge (13) on the bottom (6) and the peripheral edge (12) only as far from the bottom (6) against the disc package (15) protrudes that it comes to rest on the disk pack when the two sealing strips (31) applied symmetrically on the carrier film (30) of FIGS. 11 and 12 are evenly compressed to about 60% of their original starting strength. This condition occurs when, according to FIG. 7, the disc package (15) with the upper bearing surface (15a) on the stop edge (12) of the bottom (6) of the housing (1) on the one hand and on the other side with the upper bearing surface (15a) interposed Stop edge (24) of the cover (21) with the contact surface (15b). In this case, the edge (8, 8a) of the housing (1) is also received in the groove (22) of the cover (21) and welded firmly to the cover by ultrasound. The entire disc oil cooler according to the embodiment of the invention is then completed.

Of course, it would also be possible to use the sealing strips (31) in the not apply the shape shown on a separate carrier film (30) and then insert it non-rotatably in the lid and bottom, but it would also be possible to directly and to the desired extent the sealing strips around the openings (7 and 23) and around the openings (19 and 28 ) to put around. Even then, if suitable dimensions were chosen, it would be possible to compress the seal formed in this way to 60% of its original thickness and to give it a prestress which is sufficient to apply the necessary sealing force but on the other hand is not too great to be too early Contribute fatigue to elasticity. In the selected embodiment and when using a seal (29), the seal can be produced in series and separately from the two plastic parts of the housing (1). It is therefore also provided with two slot openings (33) opposite the opening (32), so that it can be used both for the base (6) and for the lid (21) without having to take care that the opening is inserted in the seal is also assigned to the opening in the bottom or in the lid.
