Abstract

The sewing machine is provided with stitch-forming and material transport means, as well as with a microprocessor which is connected to a write/read memory for time-storage of the basic patterns which can be modified by the control programmes, with a keyboard for selecting a basic pattern and for the entry of corrections to pre-set parameters of the basic pattern and with a display unit for showing the characteristic values of a basic pattern or of its parameters. In order to be able to select in a simple and trouble-free manner the pre-determined basic patterns, the display unit (56) has a unique point-matrix display, the display field of which can be switched by the microprocessor, depending on the values entered via the keyboard (58), either fully or in partial fields to different display forms (56a to 56c). The keys (58a) of the keyboard (58) are provided with symbols (0...9). The display forms of the display unit (58) portray patterns of designations to which various symbols are attributed (0...9). The symbols indicated in the display forms (0...9) at least partly match the symbols (0...9) of the keys (58a) of the keyboard (58). The microprocessor (42) activates those keys (58a) whose symbol (0...9) matches the symbols (0...9) in the display form of the display unit (56), for selection of the relevant basic pattern or for operating the appropriate control means (12, 31) for the stitch position and/or the advance.

Description

The invention relates to a sewing machine according to the preamble of claim 1.

In a known sewing machine of this type (DE-PS 32 35 121), a large number of different preprogrammed sewing patterns can be produced. These sewing patterns are selected from a table in which the sewing patterns are shown together with an associated code number, the latter being entered via a keyboard to select the pattern. This already requires a greater effort to find the sewing pattern. In order to create the different sewing parameters of the selected sewing pattern, the sewing parameter values must then be entered via further keys assigned to the individual parameter displays. This is very confusing for the operator and usually requires a repeated look at the instructions for the sewing machine.

A sewing machine corresponding to the preamble of claim 1 has become known from US-A-4 860 678. The display unit of this sewing machine also shows an extremely large number of display forms from which the operator can make a selection with the aid of a cursor-controlled cursor. The simultaneous offer of such a large number of options confuses the operator and therefore makes it difficult to operate the sewing machine.

Each executable letter is assigned its own key on a keypad, this key having a sewing pattern symbol corresponding to the associated letter. Such an arrangement may Although suitable for the selection of patterns which should represent letters, for the selection of individual sewing patterns or groups of similarly designed sewing patterns and their setting parameters, this embodiment would result in an unclear operating effort.

To overcome these disadvantages, the invention has for its object to provide a selection and display device for the pattern selection of an electronic sewing machine, with which both the pattern selection and the parameter setting of the selected sewing pattern can be carried out successively in a problem-free manner.

With the solution according to the invention according to the characterizing part of claim 1, an operation-technically simple pattern selection and display device results, which despite the substantially enlarged sewing pattern and the parameter display is compact.

A gearwheel 14 is fastened on the shaft 13, which meshes with a gearwheel 15 which is fastened on a shaft 16 mounted parallel to the shaft 13. On this a lifting eccentric 17 is screwed, which carries a cam 18. On the shaft 16, an eccentric 19 is also attached, which is encompassed by an eccentric rod 20, on which two links 22 and 23 are articulated by means of a bolt 21. The Handlebar 22 is rotatably connected via a bolt 24 to an angle lever 25 which is rotatably mounted on an axle 26 fastened in the housing of the sewing machine and is connected via an arm 27 of the angle lever 25 and a rod 28 to a crank 29 which is on the shaft 30 of a second stepping motor 31 which is arranged in the housing of the machine and which controls the feed of the sewing machine.

The link 23 is articulated to an arm 33 of a rocker arm 34 supported on the shaft 13 by a bolt 32. A second upwardly projecting arm 35 of the rocker arm 34 has at its end a guide slot 36 in which a pin 37 is guided. This is attached to a support arm 38, which is slidably mounted on a horizontal axis 39 fastened in the housing of the sewing machine parallel to the feed direction. At its free end, the support arm 38 carries a fabric slide 40, which is provided for the transport of sewing material, which is sewn by the needle 4 in cooperation with a gripper, not shown. The support arm 38 is supported on the cams 18 of the lifting eccentric 17 via a web 41 directed downwards.

The construction of the two stepper motors 12 and 31 are identical in their basic control. A stitch position control unit 46 is connected to the central processor 42 via lines 45 and is connected to the stepping motor 12 via lines 47. The central processor 42 is connected to a feed control unit 49 via lines 48 and this is connected to the stepping motor 31 via lines 50.

A fixed memory (ROM) 52 is connected to the central processor 42 via lines 51, a working memory (RAM) 54 is connected via lines 53 and a display unit 56 is connected via lines 55. In addition, a keyboard 58 is connected to the central processor 42 via lines 57. The keyboard 58 is attached to the front 59 of the housing (FIG. 1) of the sewing machine and has keys 58a, the top of which is identified by a symbol (0 ... 9). The keyboard 58 also has two separate keys 58b, the top of which is identified by a special symbol (+, -).

The display unit 56 consists of an LCD display module on which various display forms 56a, 56b, 56c (FIGS. 1, 4 to 6) can be displayed, in which both graphic characters and characters can be contained. It is arranged inside a cover 60 which is pivotally attached to the housing of the sewing machine.

A plurality of basic sewing patterns are stored in binary form in the permanent memory 52. The individual basic pattern can consist of an arbitrarily long sequence of individual stitches, but also of only a single or very few individual stitches. At the beginning of each saved sewing pattern there is a pattern number and several specific data values for this sewing pattern, such as. B. standard width, standard stitch length, standard sample length, Max. Length etc. saved. Then follow the stitch position and feed coordinates specified for the production of the sewing pattern.

The selection of the sewing pattern and the setting of the stitch width, stitch position and stitch length is carried out via the keys 58a of the keyboard 58. The display unit 56 is controlled by the microprocessor 42 so that the operator uses the display in the display unit 56 to the desired Sewing pattern and the selection of the necessary or desired sewing parameters of the selected sewing pattern is introduced. When one of the buttons 58a or 59a is pressed, the microprocessor 42 simultaneously controls the corresponding switchover of the display unit 56 to a different display form 56a and the function assigned to the pressed button 58a to influence a control process, which involves selecting a basic pattern or adjusting one Control means for the stitch position or the feed can exist.

The ROM 52 contains various tables in which the display type of various menus that can be displayed in the display unit 56, the adjustment ranges of the sewing parameters (width, stitch or pattern length), and the display type of the patterns are stored in the display unit 56. When a basic pattern is selected or sewing parameters are set, the microprocessor 42 controls the start address of the table belonging to the pattern, takes this from the corresponding display data and displays it in the corresponding display form 56a, 56b, 56c in the display unit 56.

Immediately after the selection process of a basic pattern by means of a key 58a, the basic data corresponding to the selected sewing pattern for the production of the sewing pattern are adopted by the microprocessor 42 from the permanent memory 52 into the working memory 54. The basic data of the sewing pattern in successive memory cells are stored (Fig. 6). The first memory cell 71 then contains the pattern number MR, in the next memory cell 72 the standard width NB assigned to the sewing pattern, in the memory cell 73 the standard feed NV assigned to the sewing pattern, in the memory cell 74 the standard pattern length NL assigned to the sewing pattern, in the memory cell 75 the current width AB, the current feed AV in the memory cell 76 and the current pattern length AL in the memory cell 77. When the basic data are transferred from the permanent memory 52 to the main memory 54, the standard values transferred to the memory cells 72, 73 and 74 are also stored in the corresponding memory cells 75, 76 and 77. The contents of the memory cells 75, 76 and 77 are retrieved via the lines 53 by the central processor 42, converted and then converted in a manner dependent on the sewing pattern into a display code which is displayed in the display unit 56. They can be changed by pressing the buttons 79a. The changed value then also appears in the display unit 56. At the same time, the changed value is also stored in a correspondingly coded manner by the central processor 42 in the memory cells 75, 76 and 77.

During the sewing process, the successive standard coordinate values for the needle position NNK and the feed NVK assigned to the sewing pattern in the fixed memory 52 are controlled by the pulse generator 44, read by the central processor 42 from the fixed memory 52 and transferred to the memory cells 91 and 92 of the working memory 54 . From the respective standard coordinate value, the standard value and the current value, the microcomputer calculates the new coordinate value that is actually to be carried out and stores it by the microprocessor 42 into the corresponding memory cell 91 or 92. It then calculates NNK or NVK from the cells from the coordinate value ANK or AVK of the previous stitch stored in the memory cells 93 and 94 and from the coordinate value of the new stitch 91 and 92 the number of steps to be carried out and the direction of rotation of the corresponding stepping motor 12 or 31 and controls the stepping motor 12 via the stitch position control unit 46 or the stepping motor 31 via the feed control unit 49.

The stepper motor 12 pivots the guide arm 5 into the new stitch position for the needle via the crank 10 and the handlebar 9. The stepper motor 31 adjusts the rod 28 and the angle lever 25, the bolt 24 via the crank 29 so that its longitudinal axis is no longer aligned with the longitudinal axis of the bolt 32. Thus, the swinging lever 34 is given a swinging movement around the shaft 13 during the rotation of the eccentric 19, which is transmitted via the arm 35 around the support arm 38 as a sliding movement to the fabric pusher 40 transporting the material. This receives its usual lifting movement via the cams 18 of the lifting eccentric 17 which cooperate with the web 41 of the support arm 38.

When the sewing machine is switched on, the control of the microprocessor 42 displays a main menu on the display unit 56, as shown in FIG. 1.

Dies entspricht der Betätigung der Taste 58a mit dem Symbol "1".The microprocessor 42 controls the buttons 58a with the symbols 1 to 6, while the other buttons 58a are locked. The microprocessor 42 switches on a simple straight stitch seam with a stitch length of 2.5 mm. This corresponds to the actuation of the button 58a with the symbol "1".

If the starter of the sewing machine is now actuated without the operator pressing a button 58a, the straight stitch described is carried out by the sewing machine.

The operator will normally select a basic pattern by operating one of the buttons 58a prior to starting the machine. This happens first from the in the Display unit 56 displayed main menu (Fig. 1) - the display form 56a - out. The most important basic pattern groups are indicated in this by designation. In addition to the designations, a symbol (1 ... 6) is shown, each of which corresponds to a symbol (1 ... 6) on each of the keys 58a. If further basic pattern groups are to be displayed, the display unit 56 can be switched over to these other basic pattern groups by pressing the key 58a with the symbol “6”.

When one of the activated buttons 58a is actuated, the microprocessor 42 switches the display unit 56 to a different display form with special selection criteria for the selection just made. For example, if the button 58a with the symbol "2" is pressed, the microprocessor 42 switches the display unit 56, which now displays the zigzag menu shown in FIG. 4 - display form 56b. Various executable zigzag patterns are shown in the display form 56b, one of which can be selected in each case by pressing the key 58a, the symbol of which corresponds to the symbol of the corresponding pattern.

For example, if the button with the symbol "3" is pressed, the display unit 56 shows the display form 56c shown in FIG. 5, the sewing pattern being shown on the left in an enlarged view. In addition, the key numbers that can be selected and their parameter meaning (width, length, etc.) are specified.

In addition to the designation "width" and the designation "length", a scale 65, 66 is shown in each case, which shows the possible overstitch width or the possible stitch length in an enlarged form. A crossbar 67 appears below the scale 65, the length of which is the currently set stitch width and the position below the scale 65 is the currently set Stitch position of the overstitch within the executable stitch field. A pointer 68 appears below the scale 66, the position of which indicates the currently set stitch length. The corresponding parameter values of the length and the position of the crossbar 67 or the position of the pointer 68 are taken from a parameter table in the ROM 52 assigned to the respective pattern. When switching to the parameter display, as is shown, for example, in FIG. 5, the microprocessor 42 controls the standard width, standard position and standard length corresponding to the pattern. In the parameter table, the possible changes in width or length are stored step by step, so that when one of the buttons 58a is pressed, the microprocessor 42 reads out the next or the previous parameter value and displays it in a corresponding manner in the display unit 56.

For example, the crossbar 67 in FIG. 5 shows a set stitch width of 3 mm in the central position M of the stitch field. By pressing the button 58b with the symbol "+" or "-" the length of the bar and thus the stitch width can now be increased or decreased.

To change the stitch position, the button 58a with the symbol "2" is pressed, whereupon the number 2 is shown inversely and the number "1" is displayed normally. When pressing the button 58b with the symbol "+" or "-" the position of the set stitch width can now be shifted within the intended stitch field. B. to the right, as shown in FIG. 6.

Er zeigt dann den Wert der vom Mikroprozessor 42 neu eingestellten Stichlänge an.The setting of the stitch length is triggered by pressing the button 58a with the symbol "3", which is then shown in reverse colors. When the button 58b is pressed with the symbol "+" or "-", the pointer 68 becomes below the scale 66 to the right or left postponed. It then shows the value of the stitch length newly set by the microprocessor 42.

The respectively set values are shown inversely and can be changed with the key 58b which bears the symbol "+" or "-". For this purpose, the corresponding parameter 1 ... 3 assigned to button 58a must be pressed beforehand, as a result of which the corresponding number 1 ... 3 is also shown inversely in the display unit 56. In this way, the operator, starting from the main menu, as shown in FIG. 1 in the display form 56a of the display unit 56, successively, for example, via the display of the display form 56b in FIG. 4, to set the desired sewing pattern and to set it Parameters (display form 56c in FIG. 5) without having to select this sewing pattern and its parameters from a table and then having to enter a code number corresponding to this pattern or the corresponding parameter values on different keyboards assigned to the individual parameters.
