Description

The invention relates to a method for grinding the base surfaces of ceramic articles and the like with a round, rectangular or oval shape. Such a method, as described in the preamble of claim 1, is known from DE-A-36 36 606.

The method according to the invention is intended for processing, in particular for grinding large ceramic articles such as plates, bowls and the like, which, because of their size, are provided with a counter foot or web which is formed in addition to their normal foot. This counter foot must be attached with the appropriate article size, otherwise the central area will sag downwards in the event of fire. After the fire, the articles had previously been passed by hand over a demolition table, where both the foot and the counter foot were ground flat on a flat surface that was covered with an abrasive. This created sharp-edged surfaces that always caused scratch marks when using the articles on tables and on the tops of the articles when stacking.

From DE-AS 11 03 801 a machine and a corresponding method are known in which the feet of the plates or similar round objects can be rounded off with corresponding grinding jaws, studded with diamond or corundum strips. For this purpose, numerous centering and holding devices are arranged on a turntable plate around a turntable hollow shaft. In this holding device, which are controlled by rollers and a crank piece, plates are inserted with their feet pointing upwards. The grinding motor hangs on a bracket above the plate shown. A grinding tool consisting of three angle levers with the grinding jaws mentioned is attached to its shaft via a sleeve. By lowering the boom and with the drive running, the spread grinding jaws lie on the outside of the base of the plate. The further the boom descends, the more the grinding jaws tilt, causing the foot to be ground from the outside inwards. These three illustrated grinding jaws can be used to grind circular plate feet, but counter feet or webs and the feet of non-circular ceramic articles cannot be ground with them.

Zur Erhöhung der Schleifleistung vibriert das Schleifband, dessen Antrieb hierzu über ein Schneckengetriebe mit einem exzentrischen Rad in Verbindung steht.US-A-49 39 870 shows a grinding machine and a method for grinding in a vertical and horizontal position. For this purpose, a grinding wheel head can be adjusted from the vertical position into the horizontal position, whereby it can be the drive for a grinding belt in both positions. To increase the grinding performance, the grinding belt vibrates, the drive of which is connected to an eccentric wheel via a worm gear.

Ein gesondertes Bearbeiten eines Konterfußes ist mit dieser Vorrichtung nicht möglich.DE-A-36 36 602 also shows a device and a method for grinding the feet of ceramic products. On a conveyor, the plates, plates, bowls and terrines arrive at a four-part turnstile provided with suction cups. This turnstile is clocked at 90 °, the suction devices picking up a product, transporting it to a first belt grinding station and, after a further clock cycle, to a second belt grinding station. In both belt sanding stations, a plane-parallel sanding is carried out with sanding belts of different sizes. A separate processing of a counter foot is not possible with this device.

The mode of operation of a circulation table for processing metal parts is also known from the prior art. For this purpose, WO-A-89/03 279 shows a circulation table which converts a rotary movement into a flatter circular movement without rotation. These circulation tables with planetary orbit are used for machining round holes or recesses in metallic workpieces, where rotating grinding and polishing wheels have to follow a certain surface course.

The invention is therefore based on the object to provide a method for grinding ceramic articles with which all special foot shapes can be ground.

The object is achieved in that both the foot and the counter foot or web are ground in at least two consecutive separate stations, the counter foot always being ground in the first station and the workpiece and / or the grinding tool being at least during the grinding of the counter foot rotates eccentrically.

Fig. 2
Fig. 3
Fig. 4

The invention is explained in more detail below on the basis of exemplary embodiments with reference to drawings:
Fig. 1
shows a plan view of the grinding device in the form of a rotary table design
Fig. 2
shows a partial view through the grinding station for the counter foot
Fig. 3
shows a partial view of the grinding station for the counter foot 180 ° offset to FIG. 2nd
Fig. 4
shows a partial view of the grinding station for the article foot
The example shown in Fig. 1 relates to a wet grinding machine with a rotary table design. The number of individual stations that a grinding machine has depends on the requirements. In the example shown, six stations I, II, III, IV, V, VI are provided. At station I , the articles shown here as plates 12 are placed on the tool holder 14 either by hand or automatically by a gripper or suction device (not shown). Station II is equipped with a grinding tool for the counter foot 16 . The counter foot 16 can be seen in all representations in the form of a web which extends on the respective longitudinal axis on the underside within the base of the plate. Other counterfoot shapes are known. In stations III, IV, V the foot 17 is ground. The abrasives used in stations III, IV, V mostly have different grain sizes, the finest grain size being used in station V. The last station VI on the turntable 18 is the acceptance station. As with station I , the plates 12 can be removed from grippers (not shown) and optionally fed to further devices.

The turntable 18 , the number of stations of which can be increased for any polishing or cleaning operations, also has a trough in which the water used for grinding and the grinding residues carried therein are collected. The arrangement of the grinding device for the counter foot 16 in front of all other grinding stations has the purpose that the grinding residues occurring here in the center are conveyed to the outside by the rotation of the articles and the centrifugal force thus occurring during the subsequent operations. Carriers 20 are provided in all grinding stations, to which the grinding tools are fastened by means of screw connections.

Der Werkstückhalter 14 ist hier beispielsweise gegenüber der Achse A der Welle 24 exzentrisch angeordnet.2 and 3 represent the station II , in which a grinding device for the counter foot 16 is provided. The plates rest on workpiece holders 14 , which can be formed from metal or plastic. Either vacuum, which is generated via the line 22 of the shaft 24 in the space 26 , or via, for example, a possibly elastic edge 28 which holds the plates, ensures that the plates 12 are firmly seated on the workpiece holders 14 . The workpiece holder 14 is arranged here, for example, eccentrically with respect to the axis A of the shaft 24 .

During grinding, the grinding belt 30 rests on the counter foot 16 . After each sanding operation, the sanding belt 30 advances by a length which is dependent on the length of the counter foot. For this purpose, grinding belt 30 is unwound from one spool 32 and wound onto the spool 34 which interacts with it, both of which are fastened to the carrier 20 . Also on the carrier 20 is the piston-cylinder unit 36 , with which the height for the grinding block 38 can be roughly adjusted. The height and contact pressure fine adjustment for the grinding block 38 is based on the tension spring 40 , which sits at the end of the rod 42 , at the other end of which a vibrator 44 is located as an intermediate member to the grinding block. The pneumatic one Vibrator 44 generated vibrations increase the grinding effect of the grinding belt, the contact pressure can also be varied from the adjusting screw. The elastic pad 46 includes the counter foot edges during grinding, whereby the grinding belt 30 creates round transitions.

Fig. 3 shows the grinding station II shown in Fig. 2 with the plate 12 rotated by 180 °, so that the counter foot 16 is shown in cross section. To prevent the sanding belt 30 from leaving a point on the counter foot 16 which is almost unprocessed and would result from insufficient relative movement between the counter foot and the sanding belt, the workpiece holder 14 is attached to the axis A on the shaft 24 . The same effect would result in an eccentric position of the plate on the workpiece holder 14 . Guide rollers 48 are shown on the left and right of the vibrator 44 .

The station III shown in Fig. 4 is almost identical to the stations IV and V. This station (s) is / are set up for sanding the foot 17 , for which a sanding belt 30 transported in cycles is also used.

On the basis of the oval surface to be ground, an elastic roller 50 is provided for this purpose, which presses the grinding belt 30 against the foot 17 and thus simultaneously processes the standing surface and the edges. The length of the roller 50 is based on the difference in diameter of the foot 17 , which can be considerable in the case of oval and almost rectangular plates 12 . To compensate for differences in height between individual plates 12 is the Entire grinding station with a spring, not shown, able to adapt to the changed height level. To avoid grinding marks on the article floor inside the foot, roll 50 is inclined. This is done by adjusting the screw 52 . The roller 50 is shown inclined to the left here. Likewise, however, the roller can also be inclined to the right if this becomes necessary by changing the direction of rotation of the workpiece holder 14 or by processing other articles with special foot shapes.
