Definitions
- the invention relates to a stackable row chair with four legs standing on the floor, carrying a seat plate, which lie in pairs on one side on the two sides of the chair and diverge downwards at an angle.
- Stacking chairs which have lateral, in-plane pairs of legs that diverge downwards towards the front and back, are known in various embodiments. When stacking, the side pairs of legs can be pushed more or less far over the corresponding pairs of legs of the next lower chair. This leads to a relatively low stacking height even when stacking a large number of chairs.
- stackable row chairs are also known, in which the additional objective is to achieve the closest possible connection in the lateral direction or in the direction of the row to be formed, so that it is also customary here to design the side leg pairs so that the side leg pairs are adjacent to one another Chairs can be pushed together. Examples of these known solutions are in DE-AS 12 85 137 and US-PS 38 27 749.
- the legs on the two sides of the chair are at different distances from each other, so that the left pair of legs can be pushed between the right pair of legs of the adjacent chair, or vice versa. Since the distance between the side legs on one side is two leg diameters larger than on the other side, there is a clearly visible asymmetry of the chair and thus an appearance that is undesirable, at least when the chair is used as a single chair.
- the invention is therefore an object of the invention to provide a stackable row chair that allows lateral sliding of the side pairs of legs adjacent chairs without a clear asymmetry, with respect to the vertical median plane of the chair determined by the direction of the user must be accepted .
- the two legs on one side are therefore one leg further back or further forward than those of the other pair of legs, while the pairs of legs as such offer a completely identical appearance. This type of asymmetry of the chair is barely noticeable.
- the chair can also be used as a single chair or normal stacking chair.
- either the side pairs of legs are legs of a U-shaped bracket, the middle part of which runs along the side of the chair, as is the case with US Pat. No. 3,827,749, or the front and rear pairs of legs form a corresponding U -shaped bracket, the middle part of which runs in the transverse direction under the chair plate from one side to the other (DE-AS 12 85 137).
- the two brackets must be connected sufficiently stably by two connecting struts.
- These connecting struts run according to the US-PS in the transverse direction of the chair, according to DE-AS on both sides of the seat plate in the longitudinal direction.
- the use of these connecting struts not only means a higher expenditure of material and labor, but also leads to a statically relatively unfavorable, more or less punctiform connection between the brackets and the connecting struts.
- the front legs run together obliquely backwards under the seat plate until they are connected behind the seat plate to form an upstanding holder for a backrest, while the two rear pairs of legs are part of a coherent bracket which lies below the seat plate and in one Arch is arched forward and thereby crosses the two front legs running backwards. This results in a triangular bond between the two front legs converging obliquely towards the rear in the middle and the middle part of the bracket of the rear legs.
- a chair shown in FIG. 1 has a seat plate 10 and a backrest 12.
- the chair includes left front and rear legs 14, 16, which are also referred to in the present context as a pair of left legs, and right front and rear legs 18, 20 (right pair of legs).
- Fig. 2 shows a plan view of the frame of the chair without a seat plate and backrest. 3, which shows a corresponding side view, shows that the pairs of legs diverge downwards at an angle, that is to say the front legs 14, 18 are directed obliquely forward and the rear legs 16, 20 are directed obliquely backwards. 3, the rear legs form a larger angle to the vertical than the front.
- FIG. 2 illustrates the geometry of the chair.
- A denotes the longitudinal center line of the seat plate, that is, the forward-backward direction of a person sitting on the chair.
- Lines B and C which denote the two levels of the lateral pairs of legs 18, 20 and 14, 16, run parallel to line A on both sides.
- the legs of the two pairs of legs are directly in front of or behind one another, So define a vertical plane on each side of the chair.
- FIG. 2 Also shown in FIG. 2 are two lines D and E which run perpendicular to lines A, B and C and thus extend horizontally across the direction of seating.
- the lines D and E show immediately that the legs 14, 16 of the pair of legs left for the user of the chair are offset to the rear or upwards in FIG. 2 with respect to the legs 18, 20 of the right pair of legs.
- the offset a is about one leg thickness. Laterally adjacent chairs can therefore be pushed together in such a way that the adjacent pairs of legs are in one plane. In many cases this results in a close bond in the lateral direction.
- the front legs 14, 18 run below the seat plate obliquely backwards to the center or longitudinal center line A of the seat plate, and here they are connected to an upstanding bracket 22 for the backrest 12, for example welded.
- the rear legs 16, 20 are part of a coherent, overall U-shaped bracket 24, which is arched forward below the seat plate, that is, downwards in FIG. 2.
- the middle section 26 of the bracket 24 crosses the two extensions 28, 30 of the front legs 14, 18, designated 28, 30, which extend obliquely to the center under the seat plate.
- bracket 24 or its central section 26 forms a triangle with the extensions 28, 30 of the front legs 14, 18, which is structurally very stable.
- this triangular bond is much more stable than the usual, T-shaped connections between the legs and the connecting struts connecting the legs.
- the holder 22 for the backrest which starts from the rear tip of the triangle, is connected directly to the frame of the chair.
- the legs and their extensions and brackets can consist of tubular material which is pressed flat in the area below the seat plate and in particular in the area of the intersection points between the extensions 28, 30 of the front legs and the rear bracket 24, so that here relatively large at the intersection points Contact areas arise.
- armrests which can be attached to the front or rear legs if necessary, and connecting members for laterally connecting a row of chairs, since these parts can be made in the usual way.

Description
The invention relates to a stackable row chair with four legs standing on the floor, carrying a seat plate, which lie in pairs on one side on the two sides of the chair and diverge downwards at an angle.
Beispiele für diese bekannten Lösungen befinden sich in der DE-AS 12 85 137 und der US-PS 38 27 749.Stacking chairs, which have lateral, in-plane pairs of legs that diverge downwards towards the front and back, are known in various embodiments. When stacking, the side pairs of legs can be pushed more or less far over the corresponding pairs of legs of the next lower chair. This leads to a relatively low stacking height even when stacking a large number of chairs. In addition, stackable row chairs are also known, in which the additional objective is to achieve the closest possible connection in the lateral direction or in the direction of the row to be formed, so that it is also customary here to design the side leg pairs so that the side leg pairs are adjacent to one another Chairs can be pushed together. Examples of these known solutions are in DE-AS 12 85 137 and US-PS 38 27 749.
In the chair according to DE-AS 12 85 137, the legs on the two sides of the chair are at different distances from each other, so that the left pair of legs can be pushed between the right pair of legs of the adjacent chair, or vice versa. Since the distance between the side legs on one side is two leg diameters larger than on the other side, there is a clearly visible asymmetry of the chair and thus an appearance that is undesirable, at least when the chair is used as a single chair.
In the chair according to US Pat. No. 3,828,749, there is not only the difference mentioned in relation to the distance between the lateral legs, which also makes up two leg diameters here, but the two lateral pairs of legs are each part of a U-shaped side of the seat plate Bracket that is significantly higher on one side than on the other, so that the brackets can be placed one above the other when producing a row of chairs. Here there is an even more clearly visible asymmetry.
The invention is therefore an object of the invention to provide a stackable row chair that allows lateral sliding of the side pairs of legs adjacent chairs without a clear asymmetry, with respect to the vertical median plane of the chair determined by the direction of the user must be accepted .
This object is achieved in a chair of the above type in that the legs on one side of the chair are set back from the legs on the other side by one leg thickness with respect to the seat plate.
The two legs on one side are therefore one leg further back or further forward than those of the other pair of legs, while the pairs of legs as such offer a completely identical appearance. This type of asymmetry of the chair is barely noticeable. The chair can also be used as a single chair or normal stacking chair.
In conventional chairs of this type, either the side pairs of legs are legs of a U-shaped bracket, the middle part of which runs along the side of the chair, as is the case with US Pat. No. 3,827,749, or the front and rear pairs of legs form a corresponding U -shaped bracket, the middle part of which runs in the transverse direction under the chair plate from one side to the other (DE-AS 12 85 137). This means that the two brackets must be connected sufficiently stably by two connecting struts. These connecting struts run according to the US-PS in the transverse direction of the chair, according to DE-AS on both sides of the seat plate in the longitudinal direction. The use of these connecting struts not only means a higher expenditure of material and labor, but also leads to a statically relatively unfavorable, more or less punctiform connection between the brackets and the connecting struts.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the front legs run together obliquely backwards under the seat plate until they are connected behind the seat plate to form an upstanding holder for a backrest, while the two rear pairs of legs are part of a coherent bracket which lies below the seat plate and in one Arch is arched forward and thereby crosses the two front legs running backwards. This results in a triangular bond between the two front legs converging obliquely towards the rear in the middle and the middle part of the bracket of the rear legs.
Further advantageous features of the invention emerge from the subclaims.

A chair shown in FIG. 1 has a
Fig. 2 shows a plan view of the frame of the chair without a seat plate and backrest. 3, which shows a corresponding side view, shows that the pairs of legs diverge downwards at an angle, that is to say the
In addition to the frame, some auxiliary lines are shown in FIG. 2, which illustrate the geometry of the chair. First, A denotes the longitudinal center line of the seat plate, that is, the forward-backward direction of a person sitting on the chair. Lines B and C, which denote the two levels of the lateral pairs of
Also shown in FIG. 2 are two lines D and E which run perpendicular to lines A, B and C and thus extend horizontally across the direction of seating. The lines D and E show immediately that the
According to FIGS. 2 and 3, the
In this way, the
The legs and their extensions and brackets can consist of tubular material which is pressed flat in the area below the seat plate and in particular in the area of the intersection points between the
Not shown in the drawing are armrests, which can be attached to the front or rear legs if necessary, and connecting members for laterally connecting a row of chairs, since these parts can be made in the usual way.
