Abstract

The seating unit consists of a seat surface (2) and a backrest (3) which both consist of individual elements (13) which are supported by a frame. Each element (13) consists of two shells (14). In a preferred embodiment, the two shells are identical and each shell has longitudinal ribs (16) which are rounded at the top. In order to guarantee improved discharge of rainwater, the gaps (18) between the ribs are of varying depth and are provided at the lowest points with discharge openings (19, 22). The above construction allows economic manufacture and a robust construction of seating units for the open air which can additionally be used again quickly after a shower of rain. <IMAGE>

Description

The present invention relates to seating with a backrest and / or seat, primarily on benches used outdoors, i. H. in gardens or parks. In such seating furniture, which is described in DE-U-8 528 476.9 e.g. are known, a first problem is that they are robust, i. H. must be protected against increasing vandalism and, on the other hand, should be inexpensive to manufacture. Another problem with such seating furniture is that after rain showers the water often stops and it takes a while before the seating furniture can be used again. Based on this, it is the object of the present invention to provide seating furniture which, on the one hand, can be manufactured robustly and yet inexpensively and, on the other hand, in a preferred embodiment, ensures rapid reuse after rain showers or the like. These tasks are solved with the seating furniture defined in claim 1. Further embodiments of the invention are specified in subclaims 2 to 8.

In Figures 1 and 2, the tubular frame construction of a bench is shown schematically. It can be seen that the bench 1 consists of a seat 2 and a backrest 3, each of which is supported by a seat frame 4 and a backrest frame 5. Both the frame 4 and the frame 5 consist of closed tubes 6 and 7 respectively. The seat frame 4 is supported on both sides by a support bracket 8 which is anchored in the base 9. As can be seen from FIG. 2, the support bracket 8 is fastened in the base by means of screws 10. The base 9 is usually made of concrete. The seat frame 4 is connected to the support brackets 8 by means of brackets 11, while the backrest is fastened to the seat frame 4 or the tube 6 by means of holders 12.

Such a tubular frame construction enables the production of robust, yet inexpensive seat or backrest elements, which also dry quickly after heavy rain. It can be seen from FIG. 1 that the backrest or seat surface elements 13 have the same dimensions, so that here only one element is spoken of, which can be used either as a seat surface element or a backrest element. Each element 13 consists of two shells 14, the element consisting of two identical shells in the preferred exemplary embodiment. The shells do not necessarily have to be identical or identical to one another, but this lowers the manufacturing costs to a large extent, since only a single shape or pointed tool is used must be in order to manufacture all seat and backrest elements. This also makes assembly easier, since any two shells can be put together indiscriminately. If different surface shapes are envisaged for the top and bottom, or respectively the front and back, it is advantageous if at least the clamp parts 15 which grip around the tubes are of identical design. As already mentioned above, the description is limited to identical shells for the sake of clarity, but without restricting the inventive concept to them.

Each shell then has 15 ribs 16 on the clamp part, which have a rounded portion 17 at the top in order to ensure a comfortable sitting or leaning against. The ribs 16, which form the seat or backrest surface, are of approximately the same height, ie they are slightly indented towards the center and run parallel to the longitudinal tubes of the tubular frame, but are designed in such a way that the height of the space 18 is different, as can be seen particularly from FIG. 5, in which the profile of the ribs can be seen. In other words, the space 18 between the ribs has its smallest depth at the edge and deepens continuously towards the drain opening 19 in order to decrease towards the center, whereupon the depth towards the point where the fastening bore 20 with the Fastening rivet 21 is arranged, increases again to decrease towards the edge again. Two throughflow openings 22 are provided on both sides of the fastening point 20. This ensures that after a downpour, the water gets from the ribs into the drainage spaces 18 and there, through the flow openings 19 and 22, downwards or outwards, which enables the rib surfaces to dry quickly.

As can be seen from FIGS. 4 and 5, the shells 14 are dimensioned such that an intermediate space 23 is present in the assembled state, so that no tension can arise between the two shells. Conveniently, and this can be seen from Figure 6, O-rings 24 are embedded in the shells, which can be two half O-rings depending on the type of installation and intended use. On the one hand, this increases the adhesion of the shells to the tubular frame and, on the other hand, prevents the occurrence of tension.

Wood, plastic, concrete or metal can be provided as the material for the shell elements. In order to ensure good waste recycling on the one hand and great weather resistance on the other hand, pressed wood or sprayed wood mass can also be provided, which also has the advantage of being colored in the mass.

In a preferred exemplary embodiment, polymer concrete is used for the production of the shells, which has the advantage of being very tough and, on the other hand, enables inexpensive mass production. Special coloring processes and surface treatments also make it possible to achieve aesthetically advantageous and durable surfaces with this material.

In Figure 1, a four-part bench was drawn, ie a bench with four seat and backrest elements, but it goes without saying that it can also be a larger or smaller bench or a bench without a backrest. In addition, the invention is not limited to tubular frame constructions with closed tubes and the bases can of course also be designed differently than described or shown. In addition, the production of the elements from two shells is not on the ribs or their design bound. So the ribs can also run transversely instead of lengthways.
