Erreicht wird dieser Arbeitsschritt gemäß Fig. 6 insbesondere auch durch die Lage der beiden Umlenkrollen 13 und 14 zu beiden Seiten des Schneidkopfes 16 bzw. der Mittelebene 2a, in der ferner das Trennmesser 15, der Schnittspalt 25 des jeweils wirksamen Halte- und Andruckkopfes 5 bzw. 6 und der Umfang der in Ablaufrichtung der Materialbahn 2 nächsten Umlenkrolle 9' liegen. Die drei Umlenkrollen 9', 13 und 14 bilden dabei in Laufrichtung der Materialbahnen 2 und 4 ein spitzwinkliges Dreieck, das von der Mittelebene 2a halbiert wird. Zur Freigabe der angeklebten Materialbahn wird dann nur sehr wenig Zeit benötigt, es steht andererseits aber ausreichend Zeit zur Verfügung, um das Trennmesser 15 wieder aus dem Schnittspalt 25 herauszuziehen und den zugehörigen Halte- und Andruckkopf in seine Ausgangslage zurückzubewegen.   1. Apparatus for joining a web of material (2) near its end to the beginning of a second web of material (4), in particular by glueing and/or by means of an adhesive strip (23), wherein deflection rollers (13, 14) for the webs of material (2, 4) are arranged at a spacing from two holding and pressing heads (5, 6 and 105, 106 respectively) which are movable towards each other and which are respectively provided for engaging, holding and pressing on the respective beginning of each web of material (2, 4) and which can also each be acted upon with suction air and which are pivotable for fixing a new web beginning and for applying adhesive or an adhesive strip (23) and which can be pressed against the respective other holding and pressing head (5, 6 and 105, 106 respectively) for joining the web beginning to the other web of material (2, 4), and wherein finally there is also provided a severing blade (15) operative in a plane between the deflection rollers (13, 14) and the holding and pressing heads (5, 6 and 105, 106 respectively), characterised in that

  2. Apparatus according to claim 1 characterised in that each piston-cylinder device (10) includes two separately operative cylinders (10', 10'') and piston rods (10a, 10b).
  3. Apparatus according to one or more of the preceding claims characterised in that the separately operative cylinders (10', 10'') are connected together and that the piston rod (10a) of the one cylinder (10') is connected to the holding and pressing head (5, 6) and that the piston rod (10b) of the other cylinder (10'') is connected to the carrier (11).
  4. Apparatus according to one or more of the preceding claims characterised in that actuation of the respective piston-cylinder device (10) is such that retraction of the holding and pressing heads (5, 6) after the operation of glueing on the respective new web of material (2 or 4) occurs abruptly over only a few millimetres.
  5. Apparatus according to one or more of the preceding claims characterised in that the pressing head (5, 6) is guided in a parallel guide which is rigidly connected to the carrier (11).
  6. Apparatus according to one or more of the preceding claims characterised in that there are provided braking devices (19) which are directly associated with the webs of material (2, 4).
  7. Apparatus according to one or more of the preceding claims characterised in that a respective quick-motion stroke cylinder (18) is provided as the drive for each braking device (19) associated with the webs of material (2, 4).
  8. Apparatus according to one or more of the preceding claims characterised in that the deflection rollers (13, 14) are arranged on both sides of a central plane (2a), that in addition a deflection roller (9') which is further in the transport direction is arranged with its periphery tangential to the central plane (2a) and that the directions of the webs of material from the deflection roller (13) to the deflection roller (9') and from the deflection roller (14) to the deflection roller (9') include an acute angle, wherein moreover the central plane (2a) bisects that acute angle.
  9. Apparatus according to one or more of the preceding claims characterised in that the severing blade (15) is arranged directly between the two deflection rollers (13, 14) and that the holding and pressing heads (5, 6), in the inwardly pivoted position, are near the deflection rollers (13, 14).
