Abstract

Depilation apparatus, a driving (3) and a driven roller (4) being provided with toothing (5, 6) and forming a roller pair, the rollers performing a rotary movement which is directed inwards into the apparatus interior in the region of their circumferential engagement. Of each roller pair, the driven roller (4) is toothed (5) all around but the driving roller (3) is only provided with toothing (6) over a part of the circumference, so that the rollers are in engagement with one another only during a part of a rotation of the driving roller. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to an epilation apparatus in which a driving and a driven roller are provided with teeth and form a pair of rollers, the rollers executing a rotary movement which is directed into the interior of the apparatus in the region of their circumferential engagement.

Such an epilation apparatus is disclosed in EP-PA 89201397.0 (PHO 89504). With this known apparatus there is a risk of skin being pulled between the pair of rollers, so that a skin protection must usually be used, e.g. in the form of a grid. Short hair can then no longer be gripped.

The aim of the invention is to provide a solution to these problems. According to the invention, this is achieved in an epilation apparatus of the type mentioned at the outset in that the driven roller of each pair of rollers is toothed all around, but the driving roller is toothed only over part of the circumference, so that the rollers only during part of a revolution of the driving roller are engaged with each other.

Further features of the invention have been mentioned in the subclaims.

The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawings, in which exemplary embodiments of the invention are shown.

Fig. 1 zeigt in einem Längsschnitt einen Abschnitt eines Epilationsapparates.1 shows a section of an epilation apparatus in a longitudinal section.

Fig. 2 zeigt in vergrössertem Massstab einen Schnitt gemäss der Linie II-II in Fig. 1.FIG. 2 shows, on an enlarged scale, a section along the line II-II in FIG. 1.

Figures 3 and 4 show in the representation of Fig. 2 variants of the pair of rollers.

Fig. 5 zeigt in ähnlicher Darstellungsweise wie Fig. 1 einen Epilationsapparat, wobei die getriebene Walze auf verschwenkbaren Armen gelagert ist.FIG. 5 shows an epilation apparatus in a representation similar to that of FIG. 1, the driven roller being supported on pivotable arms.

Figuren 6 und 7 zeigen Schnitte gemäss der Linie VI-VI in Fig. 5.Figures 6 and 7 show sections along the line VI-VI in Fig. 5.

In FIGS. 1 and 2, 1 denotes the housing of an epilation apparatus, which has a housing opening 2, in the area of which a driving roller 3 and a driven roller 4 are arranged. The driving roller 3 is provided with a toothing 5 only over part of the circumference, while the driven roller is toothed all around with a toothing 6. The driving roller 3 can be driven by a motor 8 via a multi-stage gear transmission 7 and the driven roller 4 becomes driven by the driving roller 3 via the toothings 5 and 6. The rollers 3 and 4 perform a rotary movement which is directed in the area 9 of their circumferential engagement into the interior of the apparatus, see arrow P. In this way, the pair of rollers 3, 4 is able to grasp and protrude hair in the area 9 to take off. The removed hair is then transported further by the rollers into the subsequent receiving space 10.

The toothing 5 of the driving roller 3 consists of only one tooth, so that the rollers 3, 4 are in engagement with one another only during part of a revolution of the driving roller 3. When the teeth 5 and 6 are disengaged, the driven roller 4 stops, e.g. by the friction in the bearings 11, 12 of the axis 13 of this roller or by contact of the roller 4 with the skin. This considerably reduces the chances of the skin getting between the rollers 3, 4 and being injured.

This also lowers the energy requirement of the apparatus, which is particularly important if the apparatus is provided with a battery as a power source.

If a hair has been gripped by the teeth 5, 6, the nearby skin is also pulled somewhat in the P direction. Because the driving roller 3 has only one tooth 5, there is no risk that this skin area is gripped by a following tooth of the roller 3 and the toothing 6 of the roller 4. This also largely eliminates the risk of skin injury.

It is also possible for the driving roller 3 to have a plurality of teeth 14 (FIG. 3), which e.g. can be distributed regularly over the circumference of this roller.

The driving roller 3 can have a plurality of teeth 15 which are arranged in a group on the circumference of the roller or which in Groups are distributed over the circumference of the roller 3 (Fig. 4).

The teeth can run in a straight line or like a helix in the axial direction of the rollers 3, 4 and have an involute or other profile in cross section.

In the embodiment according to FIGS. 5-7, the driven roller 4 is mounted on pivotable arms 16. A leaf spring 17 interacts with these pivotable arms, under the action of which the driven roller 4 is pressed in the direction of the driving roller 3. In this way, a perfect circumferential interaction of the rollers 3 and 4 is achieved, whereby the hair to be removed is securely gripped by the rollers and clamped and removed between them.

If the toothings 5, 6 are disengaged, the center distance A (FIG. 6) between the rollers 3 and 4 is minimal, so that the space between the rollers in the region 9 (as indicated in FIG. 2) is minimal. The risk that the skin 18 gets between the rollers and is pinched is therefore low. A hair 19 can be gripped very close to the skin, so that short hair can also be pulled out.

In this embodiment, the center distance increases when the toothings 5 and 6 are in engagement with one another.

If the hair 19 gets between the rollers 3 and 4 (FIG. 7), then the center distance widens to B, as a result of which an increased clamping force is exerted on the hair.
