Claims (9)

  1. Coupling device for electrically interconnecting two cables (5, 6), each cable being constituted by a metal core surrounded by an insulating covering (4), the cables being interconnected without it being necessary to strip them, the device comprising two pairs (1, 2) of jaws each being fitted with sharp members (3) disposed facing one another in two coupled systems each of which is associated with a respective one of the cables, with at least one of the sharp members in one of the systems being made of metal and being electrically connected to at least one of the sharp members, likewise made of metal, of the other system, with the sharp members in each of the systems being capable of penetrating the insulation (4) of the corresponding cable when the jaws between which the cable has been inserted are caused to move towards each other by clamping means (11, 12) designed so as to allow the clamping of said pairs independently of each other, with the mutual displacement stroke of the jaws in each pair being rectilinear and defined by guide means for providing guidance in translation, thereby making electrical contact with the cable core, characterized by the fact that the sharp members of each of the two pairs of jaws are made in the form of flat teeth (3) each occupying a plane that extends transversely relative to the axial direction of the cables (5, 6) to be interconnected, and preferably perpendicularly to said direction, the teeth being combined in pairs, with the teeth in each pair having cutting edges that face each other obliquely relative to the direction in which the jaws clamp on the cable, with the teeth being disposed symmetrically on either side of the midplane of the cable parallel to said direction.
  2. Device according to claim 1, characterized by the fact that each pair (1, 2) of jaws comprises a jaw (1f, 2f) which is fixed relative to said guide means and a moving jaw (1m, 2m) displaceable therealong.
  3. Device according to claim 2, characterized by the fact that each pair of jaws is provided with snap-fastening means (14, 15, 16) for releaseably holding the moving jaw (1m, 2m) of the pair in an unclamped position.
  4. Device according to claim 2 or 3, characterized by the fact that the two fixed jaws (1f, 2f) are fixed together and disposed back to back, with the two moving jaws (1m, 2m) being disposed on opposite sides of the two assembled-together fixed jaws.
  5. Device according to any one of claims 1 to 4, characterized by the fact that the clamping means comprise two independent screws (11, 12) each being associated with a respective one of the pairs of jaws and each passing through one of the jaws of its pair and screwing into the other jaw of the pair.
  6. Device according to claims 3 and 4, characterized by the fact that the clamping means comprise a screw (21) common to both pairs (1, 2) of jaws, which screw passes through the moving jaw (1m) of one of the pairs, and through both of the fixed jaws (1f, 2f), and screws into the other moving jaw (2m).
  7. Device according to claim 6, characterized by that fact that the snap-fastening means of one of the pairs of jaws is designed to release in response to the clamping force applied by said screw (21) less easily than the snap-fastening means of the other pair of jaws.
  8. Device according to claim 7, characterized by the fact that the snap-fastening means which releases less easily is designed to be capable of holding the corresponding moving jaw in two adjacent unclamped positions.
  9. Device according to any one of claims 2 to 8, characterized by the fact that at least one of the sharp members (3) in each of the fixed jaws (1f, 2f) is made of metal and said sharp members are electrically interconnected.
