Abstract

In a device for setting and keeping constant the temperature of the damping fluid in offset printing machines having one or more damping and printing units or inking units, the cooled damping fluid being taken from a damping fluid supply container, controlled to a desired temperature, fed via feed lines in each case to a damping unit case, taken from there by a feed damping roller and transferred by means of damping rollers, said damping unit case being connected to the damping fluid supply container via a return flow line, to achieve a high quality of control with rapid control characteristics a first partial circuit is provided which is formed from feed and return flow lines and is connected in terms of flow via a motor-controlled mixing device to a second partial circuit conducting cooled damping fluid. Provided for controlling the mixing device is a control apparatus which has a control circuit and a processor control unit which determines for each printing unit a control parameter in accordance with a program and depending on the measured temperature values of the damping fluid in the damping unit case and/or on the surface of a roller transferring the damping fluid, the desired value given and given interference vectors which may be affected. <IMAGE>
