Description

The present invention relates to a new process for fixing bitumen-based waterproofing sheets, as well as the new waterproofing sheets used in this process.

Among the systems known to date for sealing roofs, one of the most commonly used consists in using a bituminous coating mechanically fixed on the support to be protected by means of screws or rivets regularly spaced along its covering braid.

However, such a system is not without drawbacks, the mechanical fixing of the covering giving rise to risks of perforation by the screws or the rivets used, as a result of the compaction of the support and / or of the movements of the structure of the building.

In order to remedy this drawback, it has been proposed to have fixing aids on the bitumen sheet during installation, at the locations of the screws or rivets used for fixing it, such as metal washers or plates. However, this method has the disadvantage of creating heterogeneity between the flexible bitumen sheet and the rigid fixing means, resulting in the possibility of folds forming between two consecutive fastenings, with the risk of tearing the sheet.

In addition, the use of washers or metal plates leads to the formation of local protuberances and increases the time necessary for fixing the sealing sheet to the support to be covered due to the use of a large number of independent fixing aids.

These covering sheets are therefore hooked together by interpenetrating folds of their joint edges and are fixed to the support to be covered by means of nails.

However, these metal strips and the way in which the sheets are attached to each other, create significant thicknesses at the joints.

In addition, these flat metal strips cannot match the deformations of the covering sheets to which they are attached, and do not allow the latter to be wound.

In addition, the implementation of these covering sheets, at the time of their installation, is complex and tedious, especially for sheets of large dimensions, and the production of multiple folds at the joints results in significant losses of useful surface area. coating at each sealing sheet.

Furthermore, the fastening elements used are not covered and do not benefit from any protection against external corrosive agents.

The object of the present invention is to remedy these various drawbacks of known fixing systems for sealing sheets by proposing a method for fixing a bitumen-based sealing sheet which makes it possible to avoid any risk of perforation or tearing of said sheet, while achieving a homogeneous fixing of the latter and not using no additional fixing aid.

In addition, the fixing carried out must be able to conform to the deformations of the sheet, not to create excess thicknesses and to limit as much as possible the loss of useful surface area for coating each sheet, in particular for an economy in terms of covering the adjacent sheets.

The present invention thus has for first object a method of fixing a bitumen-based waterproofing sheet, this process consisting, either during the laying of the waterproofing sheet on the support to be covered, or during the manufacturing of said sheet, to be placed on the covering strip of the sealing sheet, a short distance from its edge, a thin metal strip comprising transverse grooves and bores arranged at regular intervals over its entire length, then fixing said sealing sheet to the support to be covered by means of said metal strip by means of screws or corresponding rivets.

The use of such a metal strip makes it possible to create a homogeneity between the sealing sheet and its fixing means, the forces which usually stress the sealing coatings being transmitted by said metal strip from a fixing to the other.

The method according to the invention thus makes it possible not only to avoid the risks of perforation of the sheet in the vicinity of its mechanical fixing points, but also the risks of tearing as a result of the formation of folds between the fasteners, the strip metal ensuring a solution of continuity between the fasteners and its transverse grooves allowing it to match the deformations of the sealing sheet, whether these deformations are due to mechanical stresses or to thermal phenomena.

According to the invention, the metal strip used in the process which is the subject of it is secured to the sealing sheet by hot-stamping during its manufacture.

The subject of the invention is also a bitumen-based sealing sheet, intended to be used in particular in the aforementioned process and comprising, at its edge, a metal strip provided with holes for its fixing on the support to cover, characterized in that said thin metal strip is, on the one hand, fixed to the covering strip of said sealing sheet a short distance from its edge, so as to leave a weld strip, and comprises, on the other hand, transverse grooves arranged, as well as the holes, at regular intervals over its entire length.

The aforementioned metal strip must have sufficient mechanical strength as well as high flexural strength, which must meet the requirement of being robust in thin thickness so as to allow the winding of the sealing sheets.

For all of these reasons, it advantageously consists of a strip of stainless steel or stainless steel whose thickness is between 5/100 mm and 16/100 mm and the width between 2 and 3 cm, comprising on any its length of the transverse grooves 1 to 1.5 cm apart, the width of which is between 2 and 3 cm and the depth between 0.5 and 1 mm, and further comprising holes arranged at regular intervals, for example every 5 cms.

This metal strip is placed on the strip covering the sealing sheet, preferably about 2 cm from its edge.

The method and the sealing sheet according to the invention offer the advantage of being very easy to implement, because of the holes with which the metal strip is provided, and of being unable to give rise to errors of poses the fact that said metal strip is an integral part of the sealing sheet.

They also offer the advantage of allowing an economy of recovery compared to traditional methods, the metal fixing strip allowing the implementation of a covering strip. narrower (of the order of 6 cm), the washers or plates used in the traditional processes causing the need for a covering which overflows them enough. widely and whose width is generally of the order of 7 cm.

The process of the invention is applicable to all bitumen-based waterproofing sheets, and it is particularly suitable for monolayer coverings, because of the economy of recovery which it allows.

The present invention will be better understood on reading the description which follows, given with reference to the appended schematic drawing, which represents a non-limiting embodiment thereof.

Dans le dessin annexé :

  • - la figure 1 représente une vue en perspective du galon de recouvrement d'une feuille d'étanchéité selon l'invention ;
In the attached drawing:
  • - Figure 1 shows a perspective view of the cover strip of a sealing sheet according to the invention;
  • 2 shows a sectional view of the same sheet, along the line XX 'of Figure 1.

If we refer first to Figure 1, we see that the covering strip 1 of a sealing sheet according to the invention comprises, 2 cm from its edge, a metal strip 2 wide by 2 cm provided with grooves 3, regularly distributed over its entire length, spaced about 1.5 cm from each other, and holes 4 formed over its entire length, at regular intervals.

If we then refer to Figure 2, we see that the grooves 3 formed in the strip metal 2 penetrate into the covering strip 1, to which the metal strip 2 has been joined by hot self-welding during the manufacture of the sealing sheet.

The grooves 3 of the metal strip 2 promote its attachment to the covering strip 1 of the sealing sheet by increasing the contact surface between the two, and on the other hand, they allow the strip 2 to conform to the deformations of the sheet, thereby eliminating the risk of tearing the latter.

Thus, said grooves 3, advantageously produced in the form of local deformations of the metal strip 2, in particular in the form of V-shaped deformations, absorb the different tensions to which the metal strip 2 is subjected, both in expansion and in contraction.

The metal strip 2 can be placed on the covering strip 1 of the sealing sheet, either during the manufacture of the latter, or during its installation and fixing on the support to be covered and protected.

However, according to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the metal strip 2, provided with the grooves 3 and the holes 4, is secured by hot-stamping or self-sealing to the covering strip 1 of the sealing sheet during manufacture. of the latter.

It could, for example, be embedded in the bituminous mass of the covering strip 1, when the latter is still viscous, so that it is flush with the surface of said covering strip 1.

Thus, the metal strip 2 also makes it possible to avoid the initiation of tears along the edges of the sealing sheet, during transport, handling and installation of the latter, and can also serve as a guide for laying and fixing said sealing sheet. In addition, the grooves 3, constituting preferred folding zones, allow easy winding of said metal strip 2 together with the sealing sheet. Furthermore, due to the very small thickness of the metal strip 2 and its method of joining which integrates it into the covering strip 1, said metal strip 2 is flush with said covering strip 1 and does not give rise to any protuberance or extra thickness.

Thanks to the invention, it is therefore possible to design a method for fixing a bituminous waterproofing sheet, as well as a corresponding waterproofing sheet, making it possible to avoid any risk of perforation or tearing of said sheet, and this while achieving a homogeneous fixing of the latter and not using any additional fixing aid.
