Definitions
- the present invention is based on a pressure wave machine with a cell wheel having a longitudinal axis, which is mounted in a housing by means of a bearing, and whose one end face with a hot gas guide housing via a first radially oriented sealing gap and the other end face with a gas guide housing via a second radially oriented one Sealing gap interacts.
- a pressure wave machine is known from the patent specification CH 378 595, which has radially extending sealing gaps both between a hot gas guide housing and a cellular wheel and between a gas guide housing and the cellular wheel.
- These sealing gaps must be dimensioned so large that the cellular wheel that expands when heated, or its end faces, does not touch the hot gas or gas guide housing even after the highest operating temperature has been reached.
- these sealing gaps are initially comparatively wide, so that a working medium such as compressed hot gas or compressed air escapes through this column, which results in an undesirable reduction in output at the start of the startup phase. Only when warm when the sealing gaps have shrunk, working medium escapes in an unavoidable and therefore reasonable framework.
- the invention seeks to remedy this.
- the invention as characterized in the claims, solves the problem of creating a pressure wave machine, the performance of which is the same during a cold start as after reaching the operating temperature.
- sealing gaps between the cellular wheel and adjacent housings are designed such that they remain constant or approximately constant over a wide temperature range, regardless of temperature fluctuations.
- the efficiency of the pressure wave machine increases because the leakage losses from these sealing gaps during the start-up phase are significantly smaller than with conventional pressure wave machines.
- FIG. 1 shows a schematic diagram of a pressure wave machine 1 in half section.
- a cellular wheel 2 is arranged to be rotatable about a longitudinal axis 3.
- the cellular wheel 2 has end faces 4, 5 which run radially to the longitudinal axis 3.
- the hot gas guide housing 6 and the gas guide housing 8 are shown rotated relative to one another in order to improve the clarity of FIG. 1, they have both channels 10, 11 for guiding gases flowing through the pressure wave machine 1.
- the cellular wheel 2 shown has a flood of cells 12, but multiple-flow designs are also possible, and it also has a hub 13 on the inside. Space is provided in the hub 13 for a bearing, not shown, which is rigidly connected to the hub 13 on the one hand and is supported on the gas guide housing 8 on the other hand. The bearing is designed so that bearing play in the axial direction is avoided.
- the cellular wheel 2 is turned towards the outside shielded by a casing, not shown, which also mechanically connects the hot gas guide housing 6 to the gas guide housing 8.
- the sealing gap 9 has a first and a second gap extension 20, 21, which are inclined against the longitudinal axis 3, in the direction of the interior of the cellular wheel 1.
- the gap extension 20 is delimited by two flanks 22, 23.
- the flank 22 is formed by the machined surface of a thickening provided on the outside on the rotating cell wheel 2.
- This flank 22 is to be regarded as an annular segment of the lateral surface of a first cone.
- the continuation of this first cone up to its tip lying on the longitudinal axis 3 at a point 24 is indicated by a dashed line 25.
- the flank 23 is the inner end of a rotationally symmetrical flange 26 connected to the gas guide housing 8.
- the flank 23 is to be regarded as an annular segment of the lateral surface of a second cone.
- the continuation of this second cone up to its tip, which is also at point 24, is indicated by a dashed line 27.
- the gap extension 21 is delimited by two flanks 28, 29, the flank 28 being part of the surface of the cellular wheel 2 and the flank 29 being incorporated in the gas guide housing 8 in a rotationally symmetrical manner. These two flanks 28, 29 are each to be regarded as an annular segment of the lateral surface of a cone.
- the cone associated with the flank 28 is indicated by a dashed line 30 which leads to its tip, which is also located at point 24.
- the cone to be assigned to the flank 29 is indicated by a dashed line 31 which leads to its apex, which also lies at point 24.
- the sealing gap 7 on the left side of the pressure wave machine also has gap extensions which are constructed in accordance with the gap extensions 20, 21.
- the end of the outer gap extension in the radial direction is formed by a flange 32 which is similar to the flange 26 and which is connected to the hot gas guide housing 6.
- the sealing gaps 7 and 9 and their extensions are not drawn to scale here, so as to increase the clarity of the drawing. For the same reason, visible edges are not drawn.
- the pressure wave machine 1 is shown here in a symmetrical design with the point 24 in the center of the cellular wheel 2.
- the hub 13 should be displaced in the axial direction to the left or right.
- the point 24 on the longitudinal axis 3 must also shift.
- the point 24 is always arranged so that it lies in the center of the bearing of the cellular wheel 2.
- a sealing gap which is designed differently from the right side for operational reasons is provided on the left side of the cellular wheel 2.
- a scraper ring 33 is inserted into the hot gas guide housing 6 here.
- the scraper ring 33 prevents the end face 4 of the cellular wheel 2 from coming into direct contact with the hot gas guide housing 6 if the cellular wheel 2 would expand so far that the sealing gap 7 would be bridged.
- the sliding ring 33 extending over the entire circumference, it is also possible to provide individual sliding bodies which are distributed uniformly over the circumference. These sliding bodies or the sliding ring 33 can be made from a metal alloy, from a graphite-containing one Material or composed of ceramic, in particular zirconium oxide.
- this pressure wave machine 1 will be briefly explained with reference to FIG. 1, the actual charging of gases no longer having to be described with the aid of pressure wave processes taking place in the cells 12 of the cellular wheel 2.
- Pressure is relieved by means of radially aligned sealing gaps. When the pressure wave machine is cold, these sealing gaps are comparatively large; as the pressure wave machine heats up, they shrink until they reach an optimal size after the operating temperature has been reached.
- the actual sealing function is no longer performed only by the radially running sealing gaps 7, 9, but the gap extensions 20, 21 represent the actual sealing points.
- the cellular wheel 2 expands when heated and, to put it more simply, in the direction of rays that originate from the central point 24, which is to be regarded as a fixed point.
- the dashed lines 25 and 30 indicate such rays in the plane of the drawing, the extension of these rays are the flanks 22 and 28, which are thus shifted in the direction of the associated dashed lines 25, 30.
- the area surrounding the cellular wheel 2 also heats up, so that the gas guide housing 8 also expands together with the flange 26.
- the flank 23 incorporated into the flange 26 and that into the gas guide housing 8 incorporated flank 29 also expand in the direction of the dashed lines 23 and 31 arranged in each case.
- This expansion behavior can be set by a choice of the material for the gas guide housing 8, the flange 26, the jacket housing and the hot gas guide housing 6 together with the flange 32, which is matched to the material of the cellular wheel 2 or its expansion coefficient.
- the distance between the flanks 22, 23 of the gap extension 20 and that between the flanks 28, 29 of the gap extension 21 therefore remains constant regardless of the temperature. These distances can therefore be selected to be comparatively small, since there is no risk of grazing, as a result of which good tightness and thus uniform performance of the pressure wave machine 1 is achieved over the entire temperature range up to the operating temperature.
- the transition between the radially oriented sealing gaps and the gap extensions, which is formed as a kink additionally improves the tightness, since compressed gas can only flow out poorly through this labyrinth-like kink.
- the thickness of the radially aligned sealing gaps 7, 9 is of secondary importance in this design of the pressure wave machine 1, so that comparatively high manufacturing tolerances are possible here, which makes manufacturing cheaper.
- the scraper rings 33 prevent any streaking of the cellular wheel 2 on the hot gas guide housing 6 or on the gas guide housing 8 from causing damage.
- the slip rings 33 can be installed on both sides of the cellular wheel 2. They are made of a material that is resistant to abrasion.

Description
The present invention is based on a pressure wave machine with a cell wheel having a longitudinal axis, which is mounted in a housing by means of a bearing, and whose one end face with a hot gas guide housing via a first radially oriented sealing gap and the other end face with a gas guide housing via a second radially oriented one Sealing gap interacts.
A pressure wave machine is known from the patent specification CH 378 595, which has radially extending sealing gaps both between a hot gas guide housing and a cellular wheel and between a gas guide housing and the cellular wheel. These sealing gaps must be dimensioned so large that the cellular wheel that expands when heated, or its end faces, does not touch the hot gas or gas guide housing even after the highest operating temperature has been reached. In the cold state, i.e. when the pressure wave machine is started up, these sealing gaps are initially comparatively wide, so that a working medium such as compressed hot gas or compressed air escapes through this column, which results in an undesirable reduction in output at the start of the startup phase. Only when warm when the sealing gaps have shrunk, working medium escapes in an unavoidable and therefore reasonable framework.
Hier will die Erfindung Abhilfe schaffen. The invention seeks to remedy this. The invention, as characterized in the claims, solves the problem of creating a pressure wave machine, the performance of which is the same during a cold start as after reaching the operating temperature.
The advantages achieved by the invention are essentially to be seen in the fact that sealing gaps between the cellular wheel and adjacent housings are designed such that they remain constant or approximately constant over a wide temperature range, regardless of temperature fluctuations. The efficiency of the pressure wave machine increases because the leakage losses from these sealing gaps during the start-up phase are significantly smaller than with conventional pressure wave machines.
The further developments of the invention are the subject of the dependent claims.
The invention, its further development and the advantages which can be achieved therewith are explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing, which only represents one possible embodiment.

The
The
The
Entsprechende Vorkehrung gegen Berührungen können auch im Dichtungsspalt 9 getroffen werden.2 shows a partial section through a pressure wave machine. A
The mode of operation of this
The
The distance between the
The scraper rings 33 prevent any streaking of the
