Description

The invention relates to a protective switch device, for a circuit subject to short-circuit currents, in which the natural development of the arc appearing at the opening of a pair of contacts placed in a chamber and occurring moving along a deflecting conductor is assisted and accelerated by a magnetic induction developed by at least one loop conducting these currents which is placed outside the chamber in a plane substantially parallel to that which passes through this deflector and through these contacts.

- une première portion d'extrémité propre à être électriquement reliée au contact fixe ;
It relates more particularly to a protective switch device, of a type similar to that described in patent EP-231,600, in which the conductive loop has:
- A first end portion adapted to be electrically connected to the fixed contact;
- a tongue extending the first portion to constitute the deflector conductor; and
- A second end portion which is placed in alignment with the tongue and which is intended to join directly or indirectly a connection terminal of the device receiving the device.

These devices, which are mainly intended to equip overcurrent protection devices, use the device of an assistance in blowing the arc thanks to an induction which is established on its path in order to accelerate its swelling and to hasten its destabilization. Thanks to this device, we can build limiting devices of reduced size which the need is felt for both industrial and domestic installations where the technical cost becomes one of the main criteria of choice.

The construction of current loops is a relatively expensive operation insofar as it requires either the assembly of several elements, or the cutting and bending of cut conductive parts, the development of which in the plane of the metal foil they are drawn badly uses the available surface; this cutting technique is however interesting because of the simplification it brings to the assembly of devices manufactured in very large quantities, by exempting the manufacturer from subsequent welding and / or assembly operations.

The invention therefore proposes to provide a switch device as defined above, in which the shape of the current loop can meet the following requirements: simplicity, ease of assembly, reduced overall dimensions and reduced cost Manufacturing.

- la boucle est formée par pliage d'une portion longitudinale d'une unique ébauche plate découpée dans un feuillard ;
According to the invention, the aim is achieved thanks to the fact that:
- The loop is formed by folding a longitudinal portion of a single flat blank cut from a strip;
- the longitudinal portion is stretched and arched in its own plane.

Other measures, which take into account, on the one hand, the efficiency of a loop whose covered area and, consequently, the length, must meet certain criteria and, on the other hand, the need to not not communicate excessive strain constraints to the material used, can lead to defining interesting proportions.

Finally, specific provisions which aim to obtain interesting limiting characteristics by increasing the efficiency of the loop, will also be specified below.

A switch device 1 in which the invention can be advantageously implemented, can be incorporated, see FIG. 1, into an insulating prismatic box 2 inside which there is one (or two) breaking chambers such as 3; we can, for example, imagine a device more complete by establishing symmetry with respect to the axis of movement XX ′ of a movable contact bridge 4.

This contact bridge then carries pads 5, 6 cooperating with fixed contact pads 7, 8 and is here subjected to the action of a contact pressure spring 9 which can be compressed or released by the movement of an external pusher 10 acting on a lateral guiding and holding means 11 of the contact bridge.

The fixed contact 8 is soldered to an end portion 12 of a conductive copper part 13 having a folded portion 14, an ascending branch 15a, 15, a descending branch 16 and a second end portion 17 which is offset and folded down to receive a connection terminal 18; an extension 19 of the portion 12 constituting a deflector extends in the chamber in the direction of the terminal and joins a region 20 opposite the contacts in which there may be means liable to destabilize an electric arc, such as a narrow slot, fractionation fins, etc.

A second conductive deflection piece 22 which would also extend in a symmetrical chamber not shown, allows the current of an arc such as 23 to flow between the terminal 18 and an opposite symmetrical terminal 24 by supplying a second arc 25 symmetrical to the first , the circuit of which passes through a symmetrical deflector 19 ′.

When a current J flows from terminal 18 to terminal 24 passing through the conductors 17, 16, 15, 14, 12, 19, the arc 23, the second deflector 22 and the corresponding symmetrical elements, the different segments 14, 15, 16, 17 constitute a conductive loop 30 capable of creating, in the area crossed by the arc between the fixed contact and the region 20, an induction direction perpendicular to the figure.

The interaction of this induction and the current J passing in the arc 23 communicates to it Laplace forces causing a displacement to the right of the figure faster than would be the natural swelling, as well as an elongation of its column attributable to the divergent paths of the deflectors; the arc 23 is on its side moved to the right.

These deformations and movements of the arc develop in it a high voltage which is necessary for obtaining a rapid decrease in short-circuit currents such as J.

As seen in Figure 3, we can connect between the terminal and the first deflector two loops 30 a , 30 b parallel to the median plane PP ′ of the switch device passing through the axis XX ′, the pad 5 and the terminal 18.

As seen in Figure 4, the development in a plane of a conductive member 30 is cut and bent with only one current loop such as 30, would lead to a very poor use of a band of metal. A similar situation would naturally arise if such a part had two current loops 30 c , 30 b , see FIG. 5, the development of which, in the plane of a metal strip, could only be achieved by making a separation - S - T - for example at the level of half-portions 17 a , 17 b .

A rough metal blank blank 26 having a longitudinal portion 28, 28 a , 28 b , such as that visible in FIG. 6, can advantageously be used to produce a conductive part having a single loop such as that illustrated in FIG. 4, when subjected to deformations in its plane which are intended to reveal the various elements 19, 12, 14, 17; 15, 15 a , 16, 16 a in the appropriate places.

These deformations include camber and / or local elongations of the metal in the plane, as well as bends which must appear in the corners, as appears in the hatched areas, respectively dotted in FIG. 6. It can be seen on examination Figures 4 and 6 the material saving thus achieved.

A blank 27 of the part, visible in FIG. 7, will be used when the latter must include two loops 30 c , 30 b , such as those visible in FIG. 3, where it can be seen that one can dispense with 'operate the separations - S - and T, which are themselves necessary when using a blank conforming to that of Figure 5. In this case, in a similar manner to the previous, the loops 30 are formed by drawdown, for example at right angles to a plane parallel to the plane PP ′ of the margins (not projecting) of the blank, then drawing / bending of these margins in the drawdown plane.

The conductive part which has been illustrated shows, see FIG. 1, the fact that the rising branch or branches 15 a are connected to the portion 12 by a portion 14 being placed at a level lower than that of the plane SS ′ where is located fixed the fixed contact pad 8. This branch 15 is, moreover, placed in such a way that the pair of contacts 5, 8 is located between the branches 15 a and 16. These measures, which locally improve the distribution of the induction in order to promote the initial displacement of the arc, are particularly easy to implement in the context of a loop formed by the previous operations.

On constate que, contrairement au mode de réalisation précédent, les racines des branches montantes 38c, 38d prennent naissance dans le plan Q contenant la pastille de contact 34.One could however apply the invention for example to a part 33 with two loops 38 a , 38 b illustrated in FIG. 8 where neither the front folded portion 14 nor the front portion 17 appear and where two cross members 31, 32 are respectively provided to support the fixed contact 34 and be respectively associated with the terminal 35; a corresponding blank 39 is shown in FIG. 9. It can be seen that, unlike the previous embodiment, the roots of the rising branches 38 c , 38 d originate in the plane Q containing the contact pad 34.

In the switch device which has been described, the arc moves, keeping its feet on two opposite deflectors 19, 19 ′ which can be put in place on either side of a contact bridge 4 with double break.

If it is proposed to associate with a single-break switch device 40 placed between two terminals 44, 45, one or more current loops in accordance with the invention, see FIG. 10, we will have to provide on the end of a movable contact lever 41 a horn such as 42, so that one of the two arc feet can hang on a conductive surface distinct from that of the movable pad 43, a conductive braid 48 serving to close the circuit.

Given the curvilinear path that this horn then follows, it is essential to give the current loop (s) 46, 47 a suitable shape, which makes it possible to carry out mechanical deformation operations such as those mentioned above.

For single and double cut-off switchgear intended for devices with nominal ratings from 16 A to 63 A, it is possible to define a ratio K of approximately 1.5 to 4 between the developed length - B - of the loop (by example, portions 15 a , 15 and 16 a , 16 of FIG. 3 and the distance - D - measuring the length of the deflector 19).

These values, which are advantageous for providing the loops with a good efficiency in assisting the development of the arc, without exposing the metal such as copper to exaggerated stresses, are naturally not limiting, taking into account the particular applications which could be envisaged and the thickness that the strip from which the blanks could be drawn could have.

It is, moreover, clear that the portions 17, respectively 32 which have hitherto been directly associated with terminals 18, respectively 35, could be indirectly connected with the aid of extension conductors if the terminals were further apart in a particular device.

In view of the fact that the conductive part, with its loop (s) and its contact and terminal regions, represents an inseparable whole, it is not possible to incorporate it directly into a casing of any shape since a part will be inside and another part outside of it.

In the context of the invention which relates to a switching device, see FIGS. 11 to 13, it is therefore necessarily necessary to define a housing 50 capable of allowing the implementation of this conductive assistance part, in particular when the latter has two loops. This, which is shown in Figures 11, 12, 13 to which reference will be made, in order to illustrate a housing with two symmetrical breaking chambers, uses two insulating shells 52, 53 substantially symmetrical with respect to a joint plane median WW ′ where, after mounting, the median plane PP ′ of the conductive part will be located and to a base 54 intended mainly to locally seal the cavity which is between the two shells in order to constitute the two symmetrical breaking chambers of a switch having a contact bridge.

This base mainly comprises an axial guide channel 55 intended to receive a mobile contact bridge support such as that designated at 10 in FIG. 1 and a certain number of clearances 56, 57 and 58, 59 which are intended to receive the portions end such as 14 and 17 in order to immobilize them.

This first installation of the conductive part can here be done by exploiting if necessary the elasticity of the latter parallel to the plane PP ′. The clearances such as 58, 59 which are made in a central rib 60 of the base having a width less than that of the external face 61, extend to this face while leaving on either side of the median plane two parallel arms 62, 63 contributing to the maintenance of a terminal such as 18.

The shells 52, 53 each have on an internal wall of the chamber such as 64, on the one hand, clearances or grooves 65, 66 and 67 for securing the opposite edges of the individual deflectors such as 19 and respectively those of the common deflector such that 22 and, on the other hand, a boss such as 68 serving to receive the end of the return spring of the contact bridge such as 9.

On an external wall 69 opposite to the wall 64 of a shell there are open corridors or footprints of shallow depth such as 71, 72 which are shaped to receive the external parts of the loops such as 30 c , 30 b and which circulate by following between a region 73 adjacent to the portion 14, and a region 74 adjacent to the portion 17 of the conductive part. Lateral clearances such as 75 and 76, which are located opposite clearances such as 56, 57, allow passage of the ends of the external ascending branches of the loops, up to the internal volume of the cavity present between the shells.

The shells of the set-up is done in direction F simultaneously discarding the loops 30a, 30b of the conductive member and thereafter folding them in the corridors 71, 72; the latter, which do not have a depth much greater than the thickness of the current loops, can simultaneously maintain the various elements constituting the housing or contribute to it.
