Abstract

2.1 The invention is based on the object of developing a known rod antenna, which consists of a thin rod and a tube surrounding the central region of the rod in an insulating manner, in such a manner that the antenna requires no foot which has to be connected to earth and such that it has an approximately uniform thickness over its entire length. 2.2 The solution of the object consists of a 3/2 lambda long rod (11) which consists of a dielectric material, containing a coaxial inner conductor (12) which extends over the entire length of the rod. The rod (11) is surrounded in its central lambda /2 long region by a conductive coating (13). lambda in this case means the average operating wavelength of the higher frequency range. 2.3 A preferred field of application for the rod antenna is a vehicle antenna, which is suitable for radio traffic and for broadcast reception. 3.
