Description

The invention relates to a fire protection glass unit with a glass pane and a metal frame with a circumferential receiving groove.

In the known fire protection glass unit from which the invention is based (DE-PS 23 28 737, DE-OS 31 40 785), the edge of the glass pane ends in the receiving groove. At least on the side facing away from the heat there is an insulating material insert between the glass pane and the flange of the receiving groove. On the side facing the heat, the insulating material insert is missing in one of the known embodiments in order to keep the temperature gradient between the main surface of the glass plate exposed to the heat and the edge of the glass plate small and to counteract disturbing thermal stresses. The known measures may satisfy if the heat takes place only for a relatively short time, but meet the requirements of long-term fire protection, which, for. B. should remain effective for 60 minutes or longer, not. It also happens that the glass pane deforms in its edge region by heating and the glass pane in some areas comes out of the receiving groove and melts away.

The invention has for its object to provide a fire protection glass unit of the basic structure described above, which is suitable for long-term fire protection and in which the glass pane remains in safe connection with the metal frame in the event of fire.

To achieve this object, the invention teaches that the edge of the glass pane ends in front of the metal frame, that a compensating adapter is connected to the edge of the glass pane, which has two metallic adapter strips glued to the edge region of the glass pane and that fits into the receiving groove with projections of the adapter strips, and that a strip-shaped non-metallic spacer is arranged between the protrusions. It goes without saying that the adhesive with which the invention is used is a sufficiently temperature-resistant adhesive, for example a cement or adhesive based on water glass or silicone. In particular in the edge area of the compensation adapter, towards the glass pane, it is advisable to arrange a silicone-based adhesive for sealing reasons. It is recommended to use the adhesive, e.g. B. by fine-particle metallic additives to set up good thermal conductivity. In particular, multi-component adhesives can be used that do not require drying.

The compensation adapter first ensures in the fire protection glass unit according to the invention that in the event of a fire, a disruptive temperature gradient does not arise between the large surface of the glass pane and the edge of the glass panes. In this respect, the compensation adapter initially functions as a temperature compensation adapter. But it also has a mechanical balancing effect and prevents mechanical stresses from different thermal expansion in the metal frame and in the glass pane from having a negative effect Act. In addition, the compensation adapter securely connects the glass pane to the metal frame because it fits into the receiving groove of the metal frame.

There are several options for further training and design of the fire protection glass unit according to the invention. A preferred embodiment of the invention is characterized in that sheet metal strips are glued to cover the adapter strips. These metal strips prevent free flames from coming into direct contact with the compensating adapter or the adhesive, but consist of a sheet which is so thin that the compensating functions of the compensating adapter described are not impaired. In order to particularly impress the mechanical compensation function, the invention recommends that a spacing area is arranged between the edge of the glass pane and the metal frame, the z. B. corresponds to half the thickness of the glass sheet. The spacer can protrude into this spacing area. To avoid disturbing tensions, it is advisable to leave a gap between the spacer and the edge of the glass pane, which, for. B. has a gap width of a few millimeters.

Since, according to the invention, the protrusions of the adapter strips or the sheet metal cover protrude from the protrusions into the receiving groove, insulation made of a suitable heat-resistant material will generally be arranged between these protrusions or the sheet metal cover and the metal frame. The adapter strips, like him, exist thinks of relatively thin sheet steel. The adapter strips can be designed as expanded metal strips but also as flat metal components which have protrusions anchoring on one side. The adapter strips can also be designed as a wire mesh. The sheet metal strips from sheet steel would regularly have a thickness that is less than 1 mm.

In the fire protection glass unit according to the invention, different glass panes can be used. An embodiment has proven itself in which the glass pane is designed as a single-pane safety glass pane. However, the glass pane can also be designed as a borosilicate or aluminosilicate glass pane. But you can also use an insulating glass unit as a glass pane. It is understood that in this case the composite material is designed to be temperature-resistant. A calcium silicate strip is particularly suitable as a spacer.

In the following, the invention will be explained in more detail with reference to a drawing showing only one embodiment. They show a schematic representation
  • Fig. 1 shows a section through a fire protection glass unit according to the invention, in sections and
  • Fig. 2 is a plan view of a corner of such a fire protection glass unit.

Der Metallrahmen 2 besitzt eine umlaufende Aufnahmenut 3.The basic structure of the fire protection glass unit shown in the figures consists of a glass pane 1 and a metal frame 2. In the exemplary embodiment, the glass pane 1 is a single pane safety glass pane. The metal frame 2 has a circumferential receiving groove 3.

A compensation adapter 5 is connected to the edge 4 of the glass pane 1. The compensating adapter 5 has two metallic adapter strips, glued to the edge region of the glass pane 1, in the exemplary embodiment in the form of an expanded metal strip 6, and includes protrusions 7 of these expanded metal strips 6 in the receiving groove 3. A strip-shaped, non-metallic spacer 8 is located between the projections 7. In the exemplary embodiment, sheet metal strips 9 covering the expanded metal strips 6 are glued on. Between the edge 4 of the glass pane 1 and the metal frame 2, a spacing area 10 can be seen, which corresponds to approximately half the thickness of the glass panes 1. The spacer 8 protrudes into this spacing area 10, but there is a gap 11 of a few millimeters between the spacer 8 and the edge 4 of the glass pane 1.

Insulation 12, which consists of a suitable temperature-resistant material, is arranged between the protrusions 7 or the covering metal strips 9 on the protrusions 7 and the metal frame 2. The Expanded mesh strips 6 may consist of sheet steel. The metal frame 2 is also generally a steel frame. The metal strips 9 are preferably also steel strips, their thickness should be less than 1 mm. The spacer 8 is, for. B. a calcium silicate strip. The expanded metal strips 6 allow the adhesive to be dried easily and quickly before the metal strips 9 are applied. At the same time, however, the bonding with the sheet metal strips 9 is also improved. In addition, the expanded metal strips 6 hold the softened or melted glass very securely in the event of a fire. As already mentioned, the adhesives 13 are sufficiently heat-resistant. If a silicone adhesive is used in the edge area of the compensation adapter 5, this provides a secure seal against moisture and thus also weather protection. - The adhesives 13 are conventional fire protection adhesives, for example based on water glass or also based on silicone.
