Abstract

Automatic coupling for coupling the lances used in steelmaking to a coupling head of a lance-holder, the requisite substances and liquid coolants being supplied to the lance through the coupling head. Coupling is effected by means of coupling hooks (4) provided on the coupling head (6), which are mounted on eccentrics (12) and move vertically when the eccentrics (12) are actuated.

Claims (3)

  1. Automatic lance changing apparatus, in particular for lances for steel production by a top blowing process, to be coupled and fastened to a lance carrier slide which can travel vertically, the materials required for refining, and also if necessary a cooling fluid, being fed to a coupling head on the lance carrier slide and transferred at the coupling point between the coupling head and the upper part of the lance into the latter, characterized by coupling hooks (4) provided on each side on the coupling head (6) and cooperating with coupling pins (10) on the upper part of the lance (8), an eccentric body (12) which is rotatably mounted on a respective supporting bolt (16) mounted on the coupling head (6), a respective pivot arm (24) on each of the two eccentric bodies (12) such that the hooks (4) are rotatably mounted externally on a respective one of the two eccentric bodies (12), and in that, on actuation of the pivot arms (24), the hooks (4) execute a substantially vertical motion, so that the lance (8) can either be pressed against the coupling head (6) or else released from it.
  2. Automatic lance changing apparatus according to Claim 1, characterized in that the actuation of the pivot arms is effected by respective pneumatic cylinders.
  3. Automatic lance changing apparatus according to Claim 2, characterized in that the pneumatic cylinder, by being supplied with compressed air, holds the pivot arms (24) likewise in their operating position for operation of the lance (8).
