Pour ce qui concerne chaque élément de profilé, les deux rainures 12 sont symétriques et comportent, chacune, une aile longitudinale 14 à profil en U et une lèvre de retenue 16 s'étendant au voisinage de l'ouverture de l'aile à profil en U et masquant en partie cette ouverture. Les éléments 11 sont assemblés (fig. 2) de façon à définir une succession de dièdres formant la palissade. Les éléments 11 sont en matière plastique semi-rigide. Une fois assemblés, ils sont emboîtés dans des socles 18. Un tel socle, représenté à la figure 3, se présente sous la forme d'un tronçon rectiligne à profil trapézoïdal, en matériau relativement dense, par exemple en caoutchouc massif ou matériau analogue. Il peut ainsi reposer sur le sol par son propre poids. Il comporte néanmoins des trous 19, à sa partie inférieure, pour une fixation plus assurée à l'aide de tirants ou tiges métalliques enfoncés dans le sol. Le socle 18 comporte une fente 20 s'étendant sur toute sa longueur et dans laquelle sont engagés des éléments de profilé assemblés. La largeur de la fente est de préférence légèrement inférieure à la distance d indiquée à la figure 2 et représentant l'épaisseur hors tout de la palissade. De cette façon, on déforme légèrement les éléments au montage, ce qui crée une contrainte élastique assurant le maintien des éléments assemblés dans le socle. On pourrait aussi envisager que certains socles soient courbes au lieu d'être rectilignes, ce qui permettrait, en les alignant judicieusement au sol avec des éléments rectilignes, de donner toute forme voulue à la palissade. A sa partie supérieure, le socle comporte au moins un trou 24 permettant d'y adapter une petite balise 25 munie de moyens réfléchissants. A la partie supérieure de la palissade, les extrémités des éléments de profilé assemblés sont coiffés par des éléments de profilé en U 28, formant main courante.
