Definitions
- the invention relates to a hooking device for a clothing article, towel or the like, of the type supporting the article in that a portion of the same is wedged in the device.
- the devices according to the Swedish and French patent specifications comprise a number of conically shaped, downwardly tapering hollows, each disclosing a downwardly tapering slit, through which a corner of a towel or the like is to be passed in the direction of the narrowest part of the slit for wedging the corner of the article.
- the device according to the US patent specification discloses two horizontal, flat projections each having a number of wedge-shaped slits.
- the said device is intended for the suspension of stockings in that parts of the stockings are clamped in slits located opposite each other in the two projections.
- the problem to be solved by the invention is to eliminate, at least in part, the disadvantages of known devices of the type initially described and to create a hooking device which makes possible the suspension of an article in that a corner of the same is wedged in the device and in that the article is held by a hanger disposed on the same, these two functions being achieved by means of one and the same element of the device, the device being at the same time of simple construction and easy to manufacture. Further, this element is designed in such a way as not to cause any wear or damage neitner to the suspended article nor to its hanger when the object is hung up or removed by means of the hanger.
- the hooking device as shown in the figures is made in one piece, preferably of rigid plastic.
- the device comprises a plate 1 intended to be secured to a wall using securing means (not shown) like glue or screws. Further, it comprises a column 2 protruding from the bottom part of the plate 1 via an intermediary portion 3.
- the column 2 forms an acute angle with the plate 1 but can be made parallel to this, the intermediary portion then being made correspondingly longer. Alternatively, the intermediary portion may be left out so that the column will join the plate immediately.
- the column 2 is hollow (at 5) with arbitrary inner and outer cross sections, and the outer surface should be smooth with no sharp edges.
- a wedge-shaped slit 4 is provided in the side wall of the column 2, which side wall is turned away from the plate 1. If required, the slit may be disposed somewhere else on the column, however, it is to extend in the longitudinal direction of the column, must be easily accessible and must not cause any damage to articles nung up by means of a hanger.
- An article provided with a hanger is hung up using the device according to the invention in the same way as in the case of an ordinary wall hook, i.e. the hanger is passed over the column 2 until it bears against the intermediary portion 3.
- An article the hanger of which is unusable or which lacks a hanger is suspended by introducing a corner of the article or 6 remaining part of the hanger into the slit from above downwardly until the corner or part is clamped.

Abstract
Description
- The invention relates to a hooking device for a clothing article, towel or the like, of the type supporting the article in that a portion of the same is wedged in the device.
- Devices of the above-mentioned type are known from, for example, Swedish patent application, publ. No. 394 370, French patent specification 1 290 318, and US
patent specification 2 541 349.
The said device is intended for the suspension of stockings in that parts of the stockings are clamped in slits located opposite each other in the two projections.
- The above described, known devices functions satisfactorily as regards wedging thin articles like towels and stockings, but are not suitable to hold thick clothing articles like jackets and coats, since at least the upper parts of these articles do not have any corners which could be introduced into the slits and also since corners, if any, are too thick. Further, repeated introduction and removal of an article into and out of the slit will result in wear which can cause the article to tear.
- This problem is solved in that the device according to the invention is provided with the features stated in the characterizing portions of the claims.
-
- Fig. 1 is a side view of a hooking device according to the invention,
- Fig. 2 is a front view of the device according to fig. 1, and
- Fig. 3 is a top view of the device according to the invention as shown in figs. 1 and 2.
- The hooking device as shown in the figures is made in one piece, preferably of rigid plastic. The device comprises a plate 1 intended to be secured to a wall using securing means (not shown) like glue or screws. Further, it comprises a
column 2 protruding from the bottom part of the plate 1 via an intermediary portion 3. Thecolumn 2 forms an acute angle with the plate 1 but can be made parallel to this, the intermediary portion then being made correspondingly longer. Alternatively, the intermediary portion may be left out so that the column will join the plate immediately. Thecolumn 2 is hollow (at 5) with arbitrary inner and outer cross sections, and the outer surface should be smooth with no sharp edges. In the side wall of thecolumn 2, which side wall is turned away from the plate 1, a wedge-shaped slit 4 is provided. If required, the slit may be disposed somewhere else on the column, however, it is to extend in the longitudinal direction of the column, must be easily accessible and must not cause any damage to articles nung up by means of a hanger. - An article provided with a hanger is hung up using the device according to the invention in the same way as in the case of an ordinary wall hook, i.e. the hanger is passed over the
column 2 until it bears against the intermediary portion 3. An article the hanger of which is unusable or which lacks a hanger is suspended by introducing a corner of the article or 6 remaining part of the hanger into the slit from above downwardly until the corner or part is clamped. - Although only one embodiment is described above and shown in the drawings, it is to be understood that the invention is not restricted to the said embodiment but only by the statements of the claims.
