Abstract

The quantity of fabric conditioner provided for treating the laundry is administered to the rinsing water in small portions consisting, for example, of seven individual doses. This ensures that the fabric conditioner is distributed more effectively in the rinsing water. Local accumulations of high concentrations of portions of fabric conditioner on the laundry batches can thus be prevented.

Description

The invention is based on a method for rinsing detergent residues from a laundry item by means of water in a washing machine, in which the rinsing process contains a section for treating the laundry with a fabric softener and in which the amount of fabric softener provided for the treatment of the laundry is at least above the Duration of a first part of the treatment section is added to the rinse water.

Derartige Verfahren sind bekannt (z.B. FR-A-24 02 026). Such methods are known (for example FR-A-24 02 026). The quantity of fabric softener intended for the treatment process is regularly added to the rinse water in a coherent dose. This is done either in a way that a metered single dose of fabric softener is supplied to the incoming rinse water and this single dose is transferred together with the rinse water into the tub. In another known device (DE-A-31 49 851) such a measured amount of Fabric softener is conveyed from one storage container into the laundry treatment room in one go without the involvement of the rinse water.

Since the fabric softener has a very high viscosity, it cannot distribute itself evenly enough in the rinse water, so that local increases in the concentration of fabric softener occur. This applies equally to the addition without rinse water and the even addition to the incoming rinse water, because the fabric softener - even in the laminar flow of the incoming rinse water - cannot dissolve. If such clouds of highly concentrated fabric softener hit laundry items, the total amount of fabric softener in this cloud is absorbed onto the fibers of the laundry items and is therefore lost to the treatment of other fibers from laundry items. As a result, these are undersupplied with fabric softener. A uniform softener treatment of the laundry items is therefore not possible with devices of the prior art.

The invention has for its object to avoid the disadvantages described above in a method of the type mentioned and to ensure that laundry items treated with fabric softener are evenly acted upon by the fabric softener.

According to the invention, this object is achieved in that the amount of fabric softener intended for treating the laundry is added to the rinse water in small portions of several individual doses. If facilities are conceivable for this, it would be of great benefit to use the amount of fabric softener provided for the treatment of the laundry over a longer period of the treatment section (not only during the water inlet) continuously to the rinse water. But even the addition of several, for example seven, smaller portions according to the invention gives the fabric softener on the way to the laundry to a greater extent than with a short-term, continuous supply of the total amount, to be distributed in the incoming rinse water and to be distributed accordingly on the laundry . Smaller portions can dissolve faster in the rinse water than a coherent larger dose. All subsequently added single doses therefore have the chance to dissolve before they come across parts of the laundry item other than their previous dose. However, the individual portions can also be placed directly in the washing tub of a washing machine, the drum of which immediately rotates the fabric softener into the washing water.

In a particularly advantageous manner, these portions are already added to the incoming rinse water. The incoming water is very turbulent and only reaches the laundry over a long distance, so that some of the smaller portions of the fabric softener have the opportunity to be evenly distributed in the wash water before being drawn onto the laundry.

The method according to the invention is advantageously used in a device for carrying out the method with a program-controlled device for metering additions from a fabric softener supply and a control device which excites the device for dispensing the amount of fabric softener provided for the treatment of the laundry, the control device the quantity reported to her is broken down into a number of smaller portions and the device for the temporally distributed delivery of the portions is activated.

The method according to the invention is advantageously used in a device for carrying out the process by a program-controlled device for dosing additions from a fabric softener supply and by a control device which breaks down the amount of fabric softener reported to it into a number of small portions and the device during Treatment section stimulates the temporally distributed delivery of the portions.

An advantageous development of the device according to the invention is characterized in that the device is a peristaltic pump, the suction side of which is connected by means of a pipeline to a storage container and the pressure side of which is connected to a rinsing water supply channel. These devices enable the method according to the invention to be carried out in a simple and inexpensive manner and can be controlled by a control device using known electrical or electronic circuit technology.

The portionwise addition of the required amount of fabric softener still has a significant advantage over the continuous addition of the total amount: The undesirable peculiarity of the fabric softener to affinity immediately and irreversibly in the amount present on the fabric parts just present had led to an adjustment of the dosage amount which would be too large if it were evenly distributed on the laundry. In this way, the chance was improved that, despite the concentrated loading of individual fabric parts, other fabric parts could still absorb sufficient amounts of fabric softener. Since the addition of the fabric softener distributed according to the invention no longer requires such large amounts as previously, an amount of approximately 20% of the amount of fabric softener previously required can be saved. The more economical use of fabric softener also reduces the risk of skin irritation caused by this. In addition, wastewater pollution is reduced to a minimum.
