Abstract

The drawing sheets printed out by a plotter on a paper strip are combined in a group which extends across the width of the paper strip. Thereafter, the sheets (32) are mechanically cut to the correct format by means of longitudinal and transverse cuts (7, 8). The separated sheets are then rendered single by means of longitudinal and transverse transport members (6, 14). A control device influenced by light barriers (10, 11, 12) causes, in each case, only that sheet (32) which is lying against a sheet stop (25) to be supplied to a folding device. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a method for creating, cutting and folding drawing sheets, wherein different sheet formats are printed out on a web by a plotter, then sheets are cut to shape by machine longitudinal and cross-sections, and then the cut sheets are fed one by one to a folding device. Such a method is known from EP-A-236 275.

The drawings printed out by a plotter on a web usually have to be cut individually and can then be folded by hand or by machine.

The object of the invention is to solve the problem of cutting out the drawings of different sizes, which are continuously printed on a band-shaped web, from a plotter in accordance with the format, and then to fold them by machine, avoiding manual labor.

The method according to the invention, with which this object is achieved, is characterized in that the plotter is programmed in such a way that sheet formats of the same size are aligned in the same direction and combined into a group that makes the best possible use of the web width, and that the separate sheets are conveyed to a separating surface , these sheets are then separated by longitudinal and transverse movements and are fed one after the other from a predetermined, identical starting position to the folding device.

The device according to the invention for carrying out the method is characterized in that longitudinal transport members and transverse transport members for cut sheets are present on a separating table are, several light barriers distributed across the width of the separating table are assigned to the sheets to be separated, a control device cooperates with the light barriers and transport elements are available, each of which feeds one sheet after the other from a predetermined identical position to a folding device.

This makes it possible to use a plotter or the like. Cut out upcoming drawing sheets of different formats without manual work in successive work steps and then fold them while avoiding manual work.

By a plotter 1 or a similar device for writing or image generation 2 drawings or the like on a paper web drawn off a roll. printed out electrostatically. These drawings can have predetermined different formats, for example the standard sizes A0 - A4 or special sizes A31, A32. The paper web 2 has a width B which corresponds to the width of the largest format to be produced, for example in accordance with a format A0. The usually used for Drawing formats used are smaller, however. The software of the plotter 1 is programmed in such a way that formats of the same size are combined into a group or a block and are aligned with one another in such a way that the title block 16 is located at the bottom right. The number of formats combined in such a block, which are labeled F1, F2, F3 in FIG. 2, depends on the format size, utilizing the web width B as far as possible, as can be seen from FIG. 1. Unprinted blank strips 4, which produce waste, can be present between the groups or blocks.

The like from the plotter 1. The coherent web 2 that is output reaches a cutting machine 3, in which longitudinal and cross-sections 7, 8 are carried out, so that rectangular formats of a predeterminable size are produced. Such a cutting machine 3 goes, for example, from the european Patent Application No. 0 236 275. By means of edge markings made by the plotter 1 on the sheet in bar or bar coding, the knives for the cross sections 7 are initially controlled and afterwards the knives are optionally used for executing the longitudinal cuts 8.

The thus on predetermined formats, e.g. F1, F2, F3 cut sheets then arrive at a separating table 4, from which they are fed individually to a folding device 5 of known construction.

Bei andern Formaten erfolgt der Transport der formatgerecht geschnittenen Blätter sinngemäss gleich.2, the individual sheets 32 separated from the cutting machine 3 are transported in the direction of arrow E by a plurality of horizontal conveyor belts 6. On the singling table 4 there are three photocells 10, 11, 12 in a straight line transverse to the longitudinal direction of the web. As soon as these photocells 10-12 are covered by the sheets 32 transported in the direction of the arrow E, this causes the longitudinal transport is interrupted by the photocell 10 stopping the drive of the longitudinal conveyor belts 6 via control elements. The sheet 32 resting against the stop 25 is then conveyed in the direction of arrow E against a folding device 5 by at least one transport member, preferably in the form of an electromagnetically actuated ball transport member 15. As soon as the light barrier 10 assigned to this sheet is free, the two subsequent sheets F2 and F3 are transported by transverse transport members 14 in the direction of arrow C until the light barrier 10 is covered again and the sheet bears against the stop 25. Then this sheet F2 is fed in the direction of arrow E of the folding device 5. The same process is repeated in an analogous manner with the third sheet F3. As soon as all three light barriers 10, 11, 12 are uncovered, the cutting machine 3 is put into operation again and cuts the next formats. In the case of special formats which are relatively long, for example A31 and A32 (FIG. 1), a fourth light barrier 13 is provided which is at a distance from the light barrier 10 in order to prevent the end of such relatively long sheets from remaining in the cutting machine 3 when the light barrier 10 is covered. In the case of other formats, the sheets that have been cut to size are transported in the same way.

According to FIG. 3, the ball transport members 15 intended for the transport of the sheets resting against the stop 25 each contain a ball 17 which interacts with the sheet 32 resting on the stop 25. Below the ball 17 there is a driven roller 26 which penetrates a slot in the floor panel 19. The ball 17 is held rotatably in a stationary cage 22. A magnetic coil 18 is fastened to a cover plate 28 by a central core 21. The part of the core 21 located above the ball 17 contains a spherical segment-shaped recess 20, a gap being formed between this and the ball 17 resting on the sheet. By switching on of the current through the control device, the coil 18 acting as an electromagnet attracts the steel ball 17, so that it is lifted off the sheet and thereby interrupts its transport. During the movement of the sheet with the ball 17 lowered, the sheet edge 23 abuts against the stop 25, so that the sheet 32 is conveyed along this stop 25 in the direction of arrow E to the folding device 5.
