Definitions
- the invention is based on an extendable information device, in particular an antenna device, for a submarine, consisting of a hollow extension mast, a piston-cylinder device arranged in the mast and at least one information unit which is rigidly attached to a piston of the device and retracted and extended using this piston.
- Known devices of this type consist of a long mast, a piston-cylinder device provided in the mast as a lifting device for the actual antenna and a rod antenna which is attached to the lifting device and can be extended and retracted from the mast by means of the latter.
- the mast itself is equipped with its own cylinder drive for stroke adjustment.
- the piston-cylinder device mentioned serves as a second extension stage for the antenna and consists of a piston-cylinder unit with a small stroke adjustment.
- the mast In its non-operating position, the mast extends within the submarine tower and extends considerably far into the interior of the boat, so that the spatial area of the so-called operations center is considerably restricted. Furthermore, the height of the submarine tower has become smaller for a variety of reasons, so that the mast height has also been reduced accordingly. This has consequently also reduced the stroke dimension for the piston-cylinder device within the mast and the antenna located therein, with the result that the antenna itself is too short or, in the extended state, has a radiating length which is too short by one to perform adequately.
- EP-A-45701 describes a sight tube device for submarines which is used both as an observation tube and as an attack tube.
- This sight tube device is designed to be telescopically extendable in a conventional manner and is provided with an extension cylinder provided at the bottom.
- this extension cylinder also extends in the case of this known construction inside the submarine and thus represents a considerable restriction in the freedom of movement for the boat crew in the operations center because of its considerable space requirement.
- the object of the invention is to provide an extendable, in particular serving as an antenna device of the type mentioned, which is designed so that it is suitable for use in low submarine towers, the area of the operation centers inside the boat or not slightly spatially impaired and enables a relatively larger stroke adjustment of the information unit than before.
- the piston-cylinder device is designed at least as a twin device such that the inner cylinder, which is open at the top and bottom and whose piston carries in particular an antenna rod , on the top of the piston of the outer cylinder is rigidly fixed, that further a flexible inner retractor is attached at one end to the piston of the inner cylinder and at the other end within the upper end of the outer cylinder and that on the piston of the outer cylinder a freely rotatable deflection wheel for the retractor is provided.
- This solution creates a simply constructed, extendable device, preferably serving as an antenna, which is excellently suitable for low submarine towers and does not protrude, or protrudes only minimally, into the spatial area of the operations center in the interior of the submarine and projects completely when retracted located within the submarine tower.
- Another particular advantage is that in the extended state of the antenna device compared to known antenna devices, the same or substantially the same radiating length of the antenna is given, although the antenna rod itself is shorter for design reasons. This is due to the relatively larger stroke adjustment of the antenna rod and the fact that a section of the piston-cylinder device arranged in the interior of the mast itself acts as an antenna in the extended state, that is to say in the operating position. There is thus the same or essentially the same antenna power, although the overall height of the antenna device is significantly reduced in the retracted state.
- the inner cylinder is of relatively small diameter and has the electrical properties of an antenna rod.
- the submarine is only partially shown and schematically numbered 1. It is provided with a relatively low tower 2 of known construction, in which, among other things, an antenna device, generally designated 3, is arranged.
- the antenna device 3 can be extended in height in several stages in order to bring the antenna rod into the operating position, as can best be seen from FIG. 1.
- the device 3 comprises, as the first extension stage, a so-called hollow mast 4, which is actuated by means of a drive cylinder 5 provided in or essentially in the tower 2 with a piston rod 6 which can be extended and retracted. With its lower end 5a, the cylinder 5 protrudes somewhat into the hull 1 and there has the supply connections 7 and 8 for the supply and actuation of the cylinder 5.
- a telescopic piston-cylinder device 9 is provided in the mast 4, which consists of a first or outer cylinder 10 and a second or inner cylinder 11 open at the top, the second cylinder on the top of the piston 12 first cylinder is rigidly attached.
- the first Cylinder 10 extends over the entire height of the mast 4, so that a maximum lifting height for the second cylinder 11 can be used.
- the two cylinders 10 and 11 are supplied with pressurized fluid via a train (13, 14) known per se from pressurized fluid lines which are led into the interior of the submarine.
- the second cylinder 11 has a piston 15, which on its upper side with an antenna rod 16 and on its underside with a flexible retractable member 17, e.g. a rope or chain is provided, which passes through the cylinder 11 ( Figure 3) and on the other hand is attached to the upper inside of the first cylinder 10.
- the deflection wheel 18 is located in a recess 19 of the piston 12 in order to be able to use the maximum stroke for this piston and thus also for the second cylinder 11.
- the second or inner cylinder 11 is relatively small in diameter and is otherwise designed so that it has electrical properties of the antenna rod.
- the cylinder 11 itself acts as an antenna or has antenna properties, so that the antenna rod 16 results in a total radiating antenna length, which results from the length of the antenna rod 16 and from the length of the extended section of the inner cylinder 11.
- the cylinder 11 is electrically conductive, and the piston 15 of this cylinder carrying the antenna rod 16 is designed such that the rod 16 with the cylinder 11 is in electrical contact.
- an insulator ring part 20 is mounted, which is designed in conventional technology to transmit electrical signals between the cylinder 11 and the corresponding electrical lines (not shown) to be able to transmit, the latter being led to the operations center of the submarine.
- the second or inner cylinder 11, like the first or outer cylinder 10, is pressurized with a pressurized fluid. This takes place on the one hand via line 13 and on the other hand via line 14, so that both pistons 12 and 15 are acted upon from below with pressurized fluid, especially since the second cylinder 11 is open at the bottom and in the illustrated case via the recess 19 with the top of the Piston 12 communicates.
- the pressure ratios in the pressure fluid used are coordinated with one another in such a way that an upward movement of the two pistons 12, 15 is ensured.
- the pressure fluid for the second cylinder 11 is heavier than sea water, so that the low leakage losses due to lubrication, which escape between the piston 15 and the cylinder 11, sink downward in the sea water and are therefore not locatable.
- the cylinder 5 is first acted upon via the connection 8, so that the mast 4 extends together with the device 9 representing a twin device in the case shown. Even during this extension process, the cylinders 10 and 11 of the device 9 are pressurized with fluid so that the antenna rod 16 itself extends by moving both pistons 12 and 15 upwards.
- the flexible member 17 running over the deflection wheel 19 prevents the piston 15 with the antenna rod 16 from emerging from the top of the cylinder 11.
- the fully extended position of the antenna device is shown in Figure 1.
- the fully retracted position of the antenna device is shown in FIG. 2.
- the retraction of the twin device 9 is achieved in that the cylinder 10 is depressurized below its piston 12, while above the piston there is sufficient fluid pressure, which in connection with the piston differential surface on the top side of the piston 12 , which is larger than the effective area of the upper piston 15, generates a force which moves the piston 12 downward and pulls the piston 15 down by means of the retracting member 17.
- the mast 4 with the retracted device 9 is then retracted with the aid of the cylinder 5 by the cylinder 5 being acted upon via the connection 7.
- the device 9 shown represents a preferred embodiment for a submarine antenna device which overall has a small overall height, but nevertheless represents an antenna with a large radiating length, with more free space being obtained in the operations center of the submarine.
- twin device 9 it is also possible to proceed in such a way that more than two extension stages are provided. It is thus possible to provide a further cylinder with a telescopic construction and operating mode in the cylinder 11, ie in the manner as described above in connection with the cylinders 10 and 11.
- the piston 15 of the cylinder 11 can thus be designed in the same way as the piston 12 of the cylinder 10, accordingly contains a deflection wheel corresponding to the deflection wheel 19 for a further flexible inner retraction member corresponding to the link 17 which has another piston.
- the further flexible member which on the other hand engages the upper end of the cylinder 11, is fastened on the underside of the further piston, which can carry the antenna 16 on the upper side, for example.
- the further cylinder then moves up and down in the same way and with the same means as the cylinder 11.
- the further cylinder can in turn be provided with a cylinder with the same described means of movement, and right away. In this way, the antenna rod can be extended further, thereby providing an even greater radiating length for the overall antenna.
- the rod 16 is an elongated preferably rigid support, including (upport E lectromagnetic S M easures) comprises a tube part at the upper end of a radar device, ESM facilities or other information devices are mounted in combination may be present together individually or. These devices are supplied with electrical energy using technology known per se, without the function of the piston-cylinder device 9 being endangered or impaired.
- the cylinder drive 5, 6 which actuates the mast 4 is omitted and instead the outer cylinder 10 is fixed rigidly on the one hand at its lower end to the submarine body 1, approximately as it is the cylinder 5 according to FIG. 1, that is to say slightly penetrating the body 1, and on the other hand the mast 4 is rigidly connected to the upper end of the inner cylinder 11. In this way, the mast 4 is extended together with the cylinder 11, while the outer cylinder 10 remains stationary. A train for the pressure fluid outputs 13, 14 is then also omitted.

Description
The invention is based on an extendable information device, in particular an antenna device, for a submarine, consisting of a hollow extension mast, a piston-cylinder device arranged in the mast and at least one information unit which is rigidly attached to a piston of the device and retracted and extended using this piston.
Known devices of this type consist of a long mast, a piston-cylinder device provided in the mast as a lifting device for the actual antenna and a rod antenna which is attached to the lifting device and can be extended and retracted from the mast by means of the latter. The mast itself is equipped with its own cylinder drive for stroke adjustment. The piston-cylinder device mentioned serves as a second extension stage for the antenna and consists of a piston-cylinder unit with a small stroke adjustment.
In its non-operating position, the mast extends within the submarine tower and extends considerably far into the interior of the boat, so that the spatial area of the so-called operations center is considerably restricted.
This sight tube device is designed to be telescopically extendable in a conventional manner and is provided with an extension cylinder provided at the bottom. However, this extension cylinder also extends in the case of this known construction inside the submarine and thus represents a considerable restriction in the freedom of movement for the boat crew in the operations center because of its considerable space requirement.
The object of the invention is to provide an extendable, in particular serving as an antenna device of the type mentioned, which is designed so that it is suitable for use in low submarine towers, the area of the operation centers inside the boat or not slightly spatially impaired and enables a relatively larger stroke adjustment of the information unit than before.
The solution to this problem is based on the introductory information device and is further characterized in that the piston-cylinder device is designed at least as a twin device such that the inner cylinder, which is open at the top and bottom and whose piston carries in particular an antenna rod , on the top of the piston of the outer cylinder is rigidly fixed, that further a flexible inner retractor is attached at one end to the piston of the inner cylinder and at the other end within the upper end of the outer cylinder and that on the piston of the outer cylinder a freely rotatable deflection wheel for the retractor is provided.
This solution creates a simply constructed, extendable device, preferably serving as an antenna, which is excellently suitable for low submarine towers and does not protrude, or protrudes only minimally, into the spatial area of the operations center in the interior of the submarine and projects completely when retracted located within the submarine tower. Another particular advantage is that in the extended state of the antenna device compared to known antenna devices, the same or substantially the same radiating length of the antenna is given, although the antenna rod itself is shorter for design reasons.
According to an expedient embodiment of the invention, the inner cylinder is of relatively small diameter and has the electrical properties of an antenna rod.

- the embodiment in partial and vertical section on a larger scale.
In Figures 1 and 2, the submarine is only partially shown and schematically numbered 1. It is provided with a relatively
The
Furthermore, a telescopic piston-
The
The second or
The second or
The pressure fluid for the
To extend the
The fully retracted position of the antenna device is shown in FIG. 2. The retraction of the
The
In a further development of the
Furthermore, it is also possible that other information transmitters or functional devices can be used instead of the
There may be applications in which, for example, considerable space must be available for other devices in the
