Description

The invention relates to a golf club (putter) for punching a ball on a green with a head attached to the lower end of a shaft, the face of which runs parallel to the longitudinal axis of the shaft.

In the known and customary golf clubs (putters) for punching a ball on a green, the face of the head runs parallel to the longitudinal axis of the shaft, but the sole of the head forms an angle of 101 to 108 ° with the longitudinal axis of the shaft, as is also the case the case for the other golf clubs (wooden and iron) in one set. When the ball is driven from the tee to the green, the player moves the clubs on a space curve, the goal being to hit the ball with the face of the head when the head is in the beginning of its upward movement and the face of the head across to the game line and the sole of the head parallel to the floor. When putting a ball in, the player is always forced to use the striking technique trained for approach shots when moving the putter, i.e. to move the putter on a short space curve and not exactly on the straight put line. This always leads to failures.

The invention has for its object to provide a new type of golf club (putter) for punching a ball on a green, which due to its construction can only be moved by the player on a straight line and thus enables better aiming on the put line.

As a technical solution to this problem it is proposed that the head has an approximately triangular plan and is arranged transversely to the longitudinal axis of the shaft.

In a golf club (putter) designed according to this technical teaching, the striking surface runs parallel to the longitudinal axis of the shaft and the sole of the head forms an angle of 90 ° all round with the longitudinal axis of the shaft. A golf club (putter) with this geometry is inevitably moved by the player like a pendulum when hitting the ball, i.e. the path of movement of the head can be covered with the put line without major problems when the ball is addressed. As a result, the success rate when punching in increases by leaps and bounds. It also plays a role here that the player exchanges the racket construction customary for approach shots with another racket construction when the ball is punched.

In a preferred embodiment, the side walls of the head located behind the face can be concave in order to save weight. Several holes can be provided in the sole of the head for precise adjustment of the weight.

While the shaft is expediently made of wood or metal, the head can be made of plastic, steel or brass. A central hole in the head is used to position the shaft.

  • Fig. 1 einen Putter in Ansicht von vorn auf die Schlagfläche;
  • Fig. 2 denselben Putter um 90° gedreht in Seitenansicht;
  • Fig. 3 einen Kopf des Putters in Draufsicht;
  • Fig. 4 den Kopf des Putters in Ansicht von vorn auf seine Schlagfläche;
Further details and advantages result from the following description of the associated drawings, in which a preferred embodiment of a golf club (putter) designed according to the invention has been shown. The drawings show:
  • 1 shows a putter in front view of the face;
  • 2 shows the same putter rotated by 90 ° in a side view;
  • 3 shows a head of the putter in a top view;
  • Figure 4 shows the head of the putter in front view of its face;
  • Fig. 5 the putter head rotated 90 ° in side view.

The putter shown consists of a slightly conical shaft 1 made of wood, for example ash, or metal and a head 2, for example made of brass. In the head 2, a central bore 3 is provided for inserting the shaft 1.

The head has an approximately triangular outline, 4 concave side walls 5, 6 lying behind a flat face. The transitions between the face 4 and the two side walls 5,6 are provided with radii. On its underside, the head 2 has a flat sole 7 in which a plurality of bores 8 for adjusting the weight are arranged around the central bore 3.

The putter can be moved like a pendulum on a put line, a rear tip 9 opposite the striking surface 4 being used to sight the put line when the player looks along the vertically hanging shaft and brings the striking surface 4 to the ball 10 in the striking position.
