Description

The invention relates to a locator for a crimping device. A crimping device is a handheld device or a stationary device for pressing electrical connection elements such as cable lugs and the like. Like. For the purpose of their attachment to stripped ends of electrical conductors.

A crimping device has two jaw carriers that can be moved towards and from each other, in each of which a working jaw is arranged, which has one or more punching elements, each of which forms a cooperating pair with the opposing punching element in the other jaw when pressing an inserted connecting element.

A locator is understood to be an additional arrangement provided on the crimping device, which has the purpose of ensuring the correct position of the connection element in the stamping element pair. A known locator arrangement, which enables two different positions to be set, is e.g. in applicant's EP-B-125 708. The present invention relates specifically to a locator intended for small crimp contacts (including connector tabs and socket parts). Under "small crimp contact" a connection element is e.g. understood in the usual order of magnitude in the low-voltage and / or telecommunications area.

The object of the invention is to provide a locator of simple construction (for a single layer) in which the connection element in question is both stable and - with regard to the generally small dimensions - is held extremely precisely in the desired pressing position. This object is achieved by means of a locator which has the features stated in the characterizing part of the attached patent claim 1, advantageous further developments being set out in the subclaims.

  • Fig. 4 ein Detail in grösserem Mass-stab darstellt,
The invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawings, which relate to an exemplary embodiment
  • 1 shows a perspective view of a locator according to the invention arranged on a crimping tool in the rest position,
  • 2 and 3 show the same locator in two first working phases,
  • 4 shows a detail on a larger scale,
  • 5 shows the same locator in a final third working phase, and
  • 6 and 7 illustrate a second and a third embodiment of a locator according to the invention.

Jeweils zwei gegenüberliegende Stanzelemente wie 21A/22A etc. bilden ein zusammenarbeitendes Paar, in dem ein Anschlusselement 30 an das abisolierte Ende 31A eines elektrischen Leiters 31 (Fig. 3) durch Verpressen mechanisch angeschlossen werden soll.1, crimping pliers 10 (not shown in more detail) have two jaw carriers 11, 12 which are fork-shaped and each carry a jaw 21, 22 (two-part in the example shown) between their two legs. Each of the jaws 21, 22 has three stamping elements 21A, 21B, 21C and 22A, 22B, 22C in a manner known per se. Two opposing punching elements such as 21A / 22A etc. form a cooperating pair in which a connection element 30 is to be mechanically connected to the stripped end 31A of an electrical conductor 31 (FIG. 3) by pressing.

The connection element 30 consists of a fastening part 30A which, in a manner known per se, for mechanical connection to an electrical conductor 31 - i.e. for pressing with this conductor - and a contact part 30B (hollow in the example shown) for establishing an electrical connection with another contact. The direction in which the electrical conductor 31 can be inserted into the connection element 30 (arrow P3 in FIGS. 2 and 3) is referred to in the present description and in the attached patent claims as the “axial direction”.

On one flank of the lower jaw support 12 in the drawing, a locator 40 according to the invention is arranged such that it can be moved in a straight line in the direction of the arrows P1 (FIG. 1) or P1 '(FIG. 3) in the direction of the jaw support 12 and vice versa. The locator 40 has for each punching element pair such as 21A / 22A a grip element which extends in the direction of this pair and which is designed to hold the relevant connection element 30. In the example shown, the grip elements are designed like fingers 41A, 41B, 41C, the cross section of which (see FIG. 4) corresponds to that of the cavity in the contact part 30A of the connecting element 30, or at least does not exceed or exceed this cross section.

The fingers 41A-C are carried by a plate 41 or are made as part of this plate. The plate 41 is in turn supported by a block 42 in which two through openings are provided, by means of which it is slidably mounted on two guide rods 13 (FIG. 2) anchored in the jaw support 12. It is obvious that the two guide rods 13 can also be replaced by a single guide rod with e.g. rectangular cross section can be replaced.

The plate 41 and the block 42 thus form a support member for the handle elements which can be moved in a straight line in the axial direction of the connection elements. The guide rods 13 are provided at their free ends with end stops 13A (FIG. 2), from which a disengaged starting position of the block 42, and thus of the entire locator 40, is determined.

On the rear (ie, more distant from the free end 12A of the jaw carrier 12) side of the block 42 there is an inclined guideway or ramp 42C which rises towards the jaw carrier 12, and on the crimping pliers 10 - preferably on the pin (not shown) which the connects two jaw carriers 11, 12 to one another, or on an extension 15 of this pin - a lever member 14 is pivotally arranged.

The lever member 14 has a lever part 14A and an engagement pin 14B which bears against the guideway 42C. A spring, not shown, can continuously force the lever member 14 into the pivot position in which the engagement pin 14B (which preferably carries a rotatable sleeve 14B ') is pressed onto the guide track 42C.

On at least one of the guide rods 13, a compression spring 13B is mounted, which permanently shows the block 42 in FIG. 1 disengaged rest position forces. Here, the grip elements 41A-C are only so long that they end in this rest position of the locator 40 in front of the area of the jaws 21, 22 and the jaw supports 11, 12.

The operation of the arrangement is as follows according to FIGS. 2 to 5. In the open position of the jaw carriers 11, 12 and the jaws 21, 22 shown in FIG. 1, the lever part 14A of the lever member 14 is actuated in the direction of the arrow P2, as a result of which, as a result of the interaction of the engagement pin 14B with the guideway 42C, the block 42 into the drawn in ready position shown in Fig. 2 is brought in maximum approximation to the jaw carrier 12.

In this standby position, the grip elements 41A-C are located in the space between the open jaws 11, 12, so that they are easily accessible from the opposite side of the device from where the locator 40 is located. A connecting element 30 is fed to that grip element 41C, which belongs to the selected punch element pair 21C / 22C (threaded onto the finger 41C in the example shown), in order to be held by the grip element. Then the lever part 14A is released and the spring 13B returns the block 42 to the starting position (FIG. 3).

In contrast to the situation according to FIG. 1, however, there is now a connection element 30 in the exact position with respect to the punching element 22C in the jaw carrier 12 to which the locator 40 is connected, in which it is when the two jaws 21, 22 are closed Punching element to be attacked or acted upon. The contact part is located in this position, hereinafter referred to as the "desired position" 30A completely outside, and the fastening part 30 completely within the effective range of the punching element pair 21C / 22C and the connecting element 30 is also exactly centered according to FIG. 4 with respect to the punching element 22C (common plane of symmetry E).

In terms of height, the grip elements, in this example the fingers 41A-C, are arranged opposite the punching elements 22A-C in question such that there is an air gap L between the former and the latter, which is insignificantly larger than the material thickness M of the connecting element 30. 2 so that the connecting element 30 can be easily threaded in the situation according to FIG. 2 and is not stripped when the locator is returned to the starting position.

Danach wird das Backenpaar 21, 22 geöffnet und der Leiter 31 zusammen mit dem Anschlusselement 30 aus der Zange 10 und dem Locator 40 entfernt, wodurch eine Situation gemäss Fig. 1 wiederhergestellt wird.3, the conductor 31 is inserted with its stripped end 31A in the direction of arrow P3 into the fastening part 30B, after which the crimping tool is actuated in a normal manner, so that it is operated in accordance with FIG 5, the fastening part 30B is pressed in a manner known per se. The pair of jaws 21, 22 is then opened and the conductor 31 together with the connecting element 30 are removed from the pliers 10 and the locator 40, as a result of which a situation according to FIG. 1 is restored.

Übersichtlichkeits halber sind die Platten 411, 411 abgebrochen dargestellt, so dass die Vertiefungen in der "C-Position" sichtbar sind.6 and 7, two embodiments 40 'and 40˝ of the inventive locator for connection elements 30', 30˝ are shown, the contact parts 30B 'and 30˝ are not hollow, so that they can not hold fingers such as 41A etc. . The handle elements are therefore designed like openings 41A ', 41B' and 41A˝, 41B˝, in which the contact parts 30 ', 30B˝ - preferably resilient - can be received. Instead of the plate 41, the block 42 carries two thicker plates 410, 411 and 410 ', 411' in each of which one of the opening in question appropriate deepening is incorporated. For the sake of clarity, the plates 411, 411 are shown broken off, so that the depressions are visible in the "C position".

Gleich der Platte 41 in Fig. 1-5 bilden die Plattenpaare 410, 411 und 410′, 411′ in den Fig. 6 und 7 ein Plattenorgan.Like the plate 41 in Fig. 1-5, the plate pairs 410, 411 and 410 ', 411' in Figs. 6 and 7 form a plate member.

Federn 411A, 411B, 411C vorgesehen. The contact parts 30B˝ (fig. 7) are themselves provided with resilient elements so that they do not have to be provided in the openings 41A˝ etc. This is not the case dei the contact parts 30B '(Fig. 6), and therefore springs 411A, 411B, 411C are provided in the openings 41A', etc.

The plates 410, 411 and 410 ', 411' are fastened to the block 42 by means of screws 43 and can preferably be exchangeable by having the same outer dimensions.

It is obvious that other embodiments than the example shown are also possible within the scope of the invention. For example, the support member of the handle elements and / or its drive can be designed differently. The plate 41 can, for example, be bent downwards at right angles, the guide rods 13 can pass through sleeves welded on following openings in the bent part, and the drive can take place by means of an eccentric comb or the like.
