Definitions

  • the invention relates to an identification card according to the preamble of claim 1 and a method for producing such an identification card.
  • Identity cards of the type in question here are, for example, check cards, credit cards, membership cards and the like, the card structure generally conforming to ISO standard 7813 (DIN 9781).
  • Identity cards of this type are designed, for example, as multilayer plastic cards.
  • There is general information on the front of the card such as: B. the name of a credit institution and user-related information such as B. the printed name of the user, his account number, the card number and the like.
  • the signature of the user is available on a specially provided signature field. When the card is handed over, the user is usually asked to put his signature in the signature field provided.
  • the identification cards are produced and designed in a way that is intended to preclude imitation of a card and / or fraudulent manipulation of the card.
  • One of the security measures is the card structure itself.
  • a multi-layer card structure made of plastic in which the data inside the layers of the layers welded to one another using heat and pressure prevents direct access to the data and thus their falsification.
  • security print image usually a guilloche print, but possibly also a logo, a microprint of sequences of letters and numbers and the like.
  • security print images serve to prevent both total counterfeiting - that is, complete replicas - and falsification.
  • the signature of the rightful owner on the card is a frequent object of such illegal manipulation.
  • H. Manipulations to exclude these signatures must, in particular, be provided with special security features in the signature field in order to prevent someone from removing the signature of the legitimate ID card user and replacing it with his own signature.
  • the signature field on the one hand has to hold the ink permanently, on the other hand it has to be designed so that e.g. B. erasing or other attempts to erase a testable, preferably noticeable change in the signature field.
  • DE-PS 27 56 692 describes an identification card onto which a signature strip made of paper or plastic with steel gravure printing is laminated onto the card body. Since the signature strip is difficult to imitate due to the special and complicated gravure printing, the risk that the correct strip will be replaced by a counterfeit strip is relatively low.
  • DE-OS 16 46 225 shows an identification card with a glued-on signature strip, which is equipped with a security pattern that, when trying to remove old signature, is destroyed and a warning (void) is exposed. Basically, you could replace the destroyed signature strip with a replica.
  • DE-PS 34 22 908 describes an identification card in which a hologram additionally provided in the signature field is intended to secure the signature strip applied to the card body by means of hot stamping technology against counterfeiting.
  • the production of such cards using the hot stamping technique is complex and the hologram can be replaced in a deceptively similar manner by a corresponding metallic reflecting image (impression falsification).
  • FR-A-2 449 930 describes an identification card with a separately laminated signature strip which is secured by a security print image which is not only on the signature field but also on the card body.
  • GB-OS 2,040,807 an identification card is described in which a microcapsule layer located inside the card body by applying pressure from the outside, for. B. is discolored with a hard pen and in this way the signature can be subsequently introduced into the inside of the card. Through constant use of this Card and the inevitable mechanical stress are destroyed more and more microcapsules, so that the card shows an undesirable color formation.
  • US Pat. No. 2,545,804 describes an identification card with a paper insert and plastic coating on both sides, the one plastic layer having a window through which the vacant position of the paper insert can be labeled.
  • no precautions have been taken to secure the signature against counterfeiting.
  • DE-PS 29 33 436 shows an identification card in which not only the user-related information (card number, account number and the like), but also the signature is applied electrophotographically to a security paper insert, which is then laminated on both sides with plastic films.
  • DE-PS 29 07 004 describes an identification card in which all user-related information, including the signature, is burned through a transparent cover film into the paper inlay.
  • the object of the invention is to provide an identification card that is easy to produce, on the signature field of which the signature can be written after the card has been completed and can be written in a subsequently changeable, in particular exchangeable form.
  • a method for producing such an identity card is to be specified.
  • the security print image already present on the card body for security purposes extends beyond the signature field applied, for example, using screen printing technology.
  • the predetermined pattern of the security print image is continuous at the boundary between the signature field and the surroundings of the signature field. A detachment of the material of the signature field and a replacement of the detached field by another field is practically not possible, since the security print image - if it should be imitable at all - can certainly not be continuously adapted to the print image in the area surrounding the signature field.
  • the color matching of the security print image to the signature field and surroundings also does not allow forgery.
  • the signature field which so far had a distinct visual appearance, can be effortlessly incorporated into the overall appearance of the card in the ID card according to the invention.
  • the production of the signature field can be included well in the manufacturing process of the card body.
  • Both the security print image and the signature field can e.g. B. can be produced by screen printing.
  • a transparent protective layer is applied to the security print image, the protective layer leaving a window through which the signature can subsequently be applied to the signature field.
  • the security print image is aperiodic from card to card.
  • security print images e.g. B. guilloche prints, periodic patterns and the invention is such. B. then the card length is not an integer multiple of the pattern periodicity.
  • the signature field is first applied, and only then is the security print image applied, in such a way that the print image at least partially overlaps the signature field.
  • the special advantages of the method show up when the signature field z. B. is produced in screen printing and then the security printing is continuously applied from the environment present as a plastic surface over the signature field. Both process steps are conventional printing processes that can be carried out with relatively little effort.
  • intermediate lamination can be carried out between the screen printing and the security printing process. This intermediate lamination smoothes the surface of the card body provided with the signature field, so that the security print image can be applied to a homogeneous, flush surface.
  • a transparent cover film is preferably provided, the area of the signature field being left out.
  • a cover film which at least has a thickness of about 80 microns, a much thinner lacquer layer made of synthetic resin, eg. B. 2-component resin, UV-curable resin or the like, again with the signature field recessed.
  • a layer of paint has about same height as the screen printing of the signature field (about 10 ⁇ m).
  • a signature field 2 is provided approximately in the middle of a card body 1 designed here as a fully plastic card.
  • the signature field is, for example, a printing layer applied in screen printing using impact-resistant printing inks, that is to say a layer which, for. B. permanent ink or other inks used in common writing instruments. Other printing methods for the application of layered materials with the property of subsequent writing are z. B. the gravure process or pad printing.
  • the layer forming the signature field can also be transferred to the card surface using the transfer method, in particular according to the known hot stamping method.
  • a security print image 3 designed as a guilloche print, which is only indicated symbolically in FIG.
  • the card body is formed from a thick plastic layer, to which the signature field 2 is applied in a suitable printing process.
  • the top of the card can be laminated to smooth the surface.
  • the security print image 3 is applied.
  • a transparent plastic film 4 is applied as a transparent, smooth cover. A window 5 is punched out in this cover film 4, so that the signature field 2 remains free for the subsequent writing of the signature of the card user.
  • the size of the window 5 can be freely selected within its limits. As indicated in FIG. 1 by the dashed boundary line 6, the plastic window can overlap the signature field 2 somewhat. However, a small circumferential gap between the pressure surface and the plastic cover can also be provided, as indicated in FIG. 2. After the cover film 4 has been applied, the card can be laminated again in order to smooth the surface. Foil which is as thin as possible should be chosen as the cover foil 4 so that the signature field is not covered by the cover foil material which softens in the process. Film thicknesses of approx. 80 ⁇ m thickness meet this requirement.
  • a synthetic resin lacquer layer can be provided.
  • the security print image 3 is indicated by a dash-dotted line, the paint consisting of transparent synthetic resin is shown by a dashed line.
  • the lacquer layer 7 consists, for example, of UV-curable resin.
  • the card body 1 'of the identification card according to Fig. 3 comprises two plastic layers. Since the lacquer layer 7 is approximately as thick as the thickness of the signature field 2 (10 ⁇ m), a practically seamless, smooth card surface is obtained, the smoothness of which can even be improved by a final laminating step.
